She walked down the empty road, realising that her goal would most likely finally be fulfilled. What she had been striving for for a very long time had almost become a reality.
However, she didn't have an ounce of joy on her soul, only despondency and resignation to the inevitable. At that moment, memories of the past came into her head. Of how naive and lively she had been. The huge contrast between that young girl and her current self was visible.
In her childhood she could not be called happy, rather the opposite, but now she believes that then was her best time. For it was only then that she was truly free. She was deprived of that vile curse that she once thought was the right of the chosen few.
Gias...
There was too much of her life connected to that word. Once upon a time long ago it had brought her happiness, and with it, it had plunged her into despair, and given her a new purpose in life.
The little innocent girl just wanted to be loved. She wanted to be surrounded by care and kindness, and she was given the opportunity to build her perfect world.
However, this perfect world was only a fake that she created herself. And in the end, the world itself proved it to her. She denied her original Gias and embraced the code of immortality, and what did that lead to?
She was killed by those who were supposed to love her. After the effects of her original Gias dissipated, all those who once adored her began to hate her for everything she had forced upon them.
She was dubbed a witch and brutally murdered. At that moment, the little naive girl had to die. In her place, an immortal witch was born. Semilia Sternau died and S.S. was born.
She vowed to forget her old name and never use it again. Those times were extraordinarily vivid in her memories, even despite how long ago they were.
But what was left to her now? Nothing, just a dying world devoid of any life.
She doesn't know when or how it started. All she knows is only that the world has come to an end. She had also recently completely lost any connection to the world of Cee, and now she was just as mortal again.
The immortal witch is dying along with the world itself.
Taking one last look at the red sky, she closed her eyes and sank into the seemingly endless darkness.
*******
But she opened her eyes again in a different place. She knew for sure that she was going to die, even though she couldn't remember how. She felt as if all her memories had just jumbled together, causing her mind to become slightly disorientated.
But after a moment, she came to her senses and looked at the man standing in front of her. Something inside her was telling her who it was. Her... master? A man she could trust.
For some reason, she didn't feel like resisting these inner feelings, so she decided to accept them.
- Master? - The girl asked in a still slightly questioning tone, looking at the handsome guy in front of her. He reminded her of the great heroes. He was surrounded by a strange aura of a warrior who had been on the verge of death more than once. She had seen such people many times, but he seemed special to her.
Then things moved too fast. She met Ed, the guy. He summoned her to his strange world, and gave her back the immortality she had hated for so long. However, she didn't feel any anger towards him.
Quite the opposite, even. Her past purpose was no longer so important, for now she had a new one, she wanted to accompany Ed on the journey of his life. In fact, his gaze was very familiar to her. Once upon a time, she had been looked at with a similar gaze by those she had fallen in love with by Gias. Except there was far more sincerity in his eyes.
He was an unusual man that she liked more and more every day. Though she still had to lie to him a little the moment they met. She had told him that she remembered everything that had happened to her in the original world, but she still couldn't sort out her memories.
Future events had spiralled too quickly for her to give it much thought, though. She found herself in a war, though it didn't scare her too much. However, there was still something she dreaded. It had been a long time since she had felt this way, but the girl was afraid of losing Ed.
If something like this had happened to her in her home world, she would have long ago dismissed these feelings and started living her lonely life again. but she just couldn't do that now. She had a new purpose and she wasn't going to forget about it.
Ed had asked her to grant him the gift of Gias, and she had done so. Even though she knew the danger of it, it was his decision, and she wasn't one to go against him.
Yet somehow she knew that the true curse of Gias would not be able to touch Ed, and he knew what he was going for. His strength was beyond her comprehension, and he soon proved it again.
Ed was getting stronger in a matter of days, he was changing, getting stronger and more experienced. She knew he was doing it with his mysterious power and she trusted him.
But even still, the moment he was injured, she worried in a way she hadn't worried in a long time. At that moment, almost all of her memories had already come back to her, and she realised how much she had become like her past self, but it didn't bother her much.
Even the memories of her world being destroyed were no longer important to the girl. Her world had changed and was different now. She had new goals and new priorities.
The war had ended rather quickly for them, and they were already flying towards Ed's home country. There were many things in this world that were different from her memories, but she quickly got used to everything.
However, even flying to a safe country that was experiencing times of peace, she realised that there would be no peace for them. Just like her, Ed had his own goals in life.
He didn't want to just sit still, he wanted peace and justice for all. To eradicate crime and all the evil in the world. A rather naive goal for a normal person. However, it was a goal that didn't belong to an ordinary man.
Ed was special, and could definitely become much stronger. And with great strength, great power also comes to you, with which you can fulfil any desires.
After arriving, Ed's award ceremony took place, and after that they had a little day off.
At the hotel, she remembered her little weakness. Namely her love of pizza, still there were few joys in her life, and only this one had survived after all these years.
Ed was not at all against such a thing, and even in favour of it. They chatted as if they were old acquaintances, and had known each other for ages. She liked that, and it also made her remember the feelings she had buried inside of her long ago.
After that, they went for a walk together and to the shops. At that moment, she felt like a little girl during her first crush. Though in truth, didn't she really.
For as long as she could remember she had never had feelings like that for anyone. No, she was capable of love, but not like this. She had loved her once friends, or those she considered family. And she had also felt maternal love for some of her fosters.
But this was a very different feeling, along with it came an embarrassment that should have died long ago.
That day she remembered very strongly and brought her a lot of happiness, but she could not call it the happiest day of her life. Why not?
She just knew that she would definitely have much happier memories in the future. This was just the beginning of their new story.
However, all good things come to an end quickly. Ed had become the leader of a new squad that only consisted of the two of them for now, but she knew that wouldn't be the case for long. After all, if he could summon her, he could summon someone else.
And their first mission wasn't some triviality, but a battle with the likes of superhumans and a bunch of scumbags. As they flew to their destination, Ed had told her a lot about the freaks that could be found in this city.
But really, they were weak against his background, especially after he had become stronger again with his new powers.
But still, sometimes his actions were too childish. That's why he had to jump off the plane so suddenly, without even warning her. She had her parachute on already, but still.
Though not to say her character was better, but still....
In the city itself, they had to split up because Ed was too strong, and went on a solo freak hunt. She would only get in his way, so she went to fulfil what she herself could.
Taking a squad of policemen with her she went to quell local riots of criminals. Somehow it reminded her of the old world. Still, the essence of human nature doesn't change, no matter what world you live in.
Cruelty and selfishness are in everyone's blood. As long as there are people like Ed in the world, though, he's not so bad. That's what she likes about him.
With her new outfit and old skills, taking on common bandits wasn't a difficult problem. even if their bullets penetrated her suit, what would she be. She's an immortal witch, and she's definitely not capable of being killed by such lowlifes.
After a few successful captures of the bandits, the unrest in the city began to subside. The rats sensed the danger and began to hide in their holes.
Her work wasn't over, though. Ed contacted her and told her to help her capture a freak. He'd already dealt with him, but he needed to do something quick.
The drive through the deserted streets to the hospital was quick, but she didn't like what awaited her when she arrived.
- Ed, what are you doing again?" the girl said as she looked up at the fireball blossoming over the high-rise building.
A little below it flew on the currents of air a happy guy, in a slightly shabby state.
Couldn't he have finished our mission with less pathos?
