Finishing everything quickly, I immediately called out to one of the Hassans that stayed with me. The others weren't here right now, and only this one counted as my assistant.
Since I was teleporting to Metropolis anyway, I could take him with me. I didn't bother explaining everything to him, and simply said that I could teleport now. After that, all I had to do was grab him and introduce him to the place I wanted to go.
In general, my new teleportation ability would work even if I didn't know the place, but it was more convenient. However, if I get locked in an unknown place or teleported to another planet, I can safely go far away, to where the limit of my teleportation ends.
A brief moment, white light, and I'm standing in my flat.
- Ahem, Ed? - I heard a woman's voice behind me. Hassan, on the other hand, quickly walked off to the rest of his own, and I quietly turned back to Semilia.
- Yeah, I've discovered a new ability and now I can teleport," I said calmly, looking at her. She was dressed casually, in short shorts and a simple t-shirt, and was now lazily lying on the couch, playing something on her tablet.
- Wow, so now you can teleport anywhere? - she said in surprise.
- Roughly speaking, yes," I answered her, immediately moving closer and kissing her. She said, wrapping her arms around my neck, "And you're so busy, I can't breathe.
- Oh, come on, I don't have much to do. Basically, we're only on two cases right now. That murder case you put us on and the strange missing patients from Arkham Asylum. The latter I assigned to Domino, and the Hassans as support," Semilia said, pouting a little.
- Okay, okay, I was just kidding, you're a very hard worker, good for you. But... have you seen the report I sent here yet? - I asked her.
- Not yet, I don't think that one has arrived yet, otherwise Neo would have reported it to me right away? - she told me. And yes, I did in fact send it less than an hour ago. Hmm, although I probably should have sent it over the internet, but I'm not sure that's a safe method. Still, the information in my report is crucial, there's no telling.
- Oh, sorry, my bad. I sent the report only half an hour ago," I smiled awkwardly at the girl, "But I can tell you everything myself.
- Come on, I'm even curious what's wrong with the mission you've made so important," she said, looking at me curiously in the eyes.
- Then listen. As I thought, Atlantis was involved, but it was better than I thought. The culprits are terrorists who are against their king and all the inhabitants of the land in general. And I dealt with the terrorist cell that was sinking ships near San Francisco, but I was lucky enough to get in contact with Aquaman, who is in fact the king of Atlantis. And we had a deal," I said, smiling enigmatically.
- So what happened next? - She asked.
- The next thing would be in a couple of days. We talked about future relations between our countries, and also agreed to work together to destroy these terrorists," I said, watching what Semilia was playing, which was some kind of primitive three-in-a-row game. Yeah, games in this world are frustrating, but that'll change soon enough.
- It's all so much more important than what we all do. That's understandable, you're much stronger. But I'm curious about something. Since you've gained new powers, have you summoned anyone else? - The girl asked me.
- Yes, there will be two more people in our squad soon. However... they are not quite ordinary, to put it mildly," I said, not knowing how to describe these two better.
- Not quite ordinary? I wondered. Did you call for some beauties you want to drag into your harem again? - she asked me, smiling.
- Yeah, I summoned three hundred of them, and they're all super-strong," I said with a chuckle, "Okay, I actually summoned two men. One's an old paladin with a lot of experience. And the other is a psycho detective.
- Ahem, these really aren't ordinary people. I even wonder how exactly they would fit into the squad," Semilia said.
- Well, the second one won't officially be a member of the squad. His image and methods are too radical. However, he'll still help us, but he'll just be considered a kind of vigilante," I told her.
- In any case, with their help, the murderer's case should move faster. And now we're basically just looking at all of his past cases and wondering why he's even doing this," the girl told me calmly.
- Okay, enough about work. While I have a few free hours, do you want to have lunch at a restaurant? - I asked the girl.
- What kind of restaurant? I was curious," she said, hugging me.
- Italian restaurant, in Italy itself, and rumour has it that it has the best pizza in the world," I said, smiling.
- I'm already getting dressed, the girl jumped up rather quickly, running to her flat. Heh, still very much into it though. Really, I'm still not sure if the pizza at that restaurant would taste any better than Alice's.
Semilia and I spent the next few hours having quite a bit of fun. We knew Italian, and we knew it pretty well. Besides the restaurant, we visited a couple of other interesting places, though, in the same Italy. I decided that it is not worth it to visit a lot of countries at once. It's still worth saving other places for our next dates.
But all good things usually come to an end, and rather quickly. So I had to go back to the headquarters, but before I did, I had to summon Uther and Rorschach. I wondered how General Lane would react to them.
I teleported to some backwoods place not far from Metropolis. I summoned somewhere else this time, still don't know who might be watching you in this world.
Well, I'd better start with Uther. He seems more adequate to me...
A character is summoned into the world.
The character is entered into the universe.
The light blinked and in front of me was a stately and no longer young man. Bright armour, under which were hidden knobs of muscles, as well as a clear look of shining wisdom eyes created a rather pleasant impression of this man.
A rather large battle hammer, which the paladin carried with him not just for beauty, and a book in his other hand. And most likely with this book he could also easily break someone's skull.
- Commander," he said calmly, nodding to me, "I have come to this world to bring justice to minds darkened by cruelty.
- That's... majestic. Honestly, I expected you to ask questions," I answered him calmly.
- It's not necessary young man. After what has become of my world, I only wish that something like this would never happen again. That's all," he answered me calmly, with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
- So what happened? If you don't want to talk..." I said, looking at the paladin.
- Nothing. If anyone can learn a lesson from my story, it's worth telling," Uther began, "My world fell because of ignorance, vanity, and pride. That's not to say I wasn't involved. My apprentice, once beloved by the entire country, went mad and sold everything he could to the demons. Becoming undead, he madly began destroying all living things, increasing his army of the dead. And all of this led to an ending that now seems inevitable to me. Demons, with an army of the undead walked all over the world, simply destroying it. And it all ended in a real madness, which went to the survivors of humans and other races. Having made a decision to destroy the whole world, along with themselves and all the enemies, they were able to somehow cause an explosion that destroyed the world. And I was the one who watched it all the way through.
I mean, that's just the way it turned out. It's really better to learn a lesson from this story. I don't really need to learn a lesson. Still, it's a good thing I called Uther and not his apprentice.
- Thank you for telling me this, Uther. My name is Edmont Kent, and I'm the commander of the local guard, which deals only with cases involving mad magicians, demons, and other very dangerous criminals. I don't suppose you'd mind helping me out? - I asked him. In fact, before this, I hadn't even asked the others about their desire. But at that moment, I somehow realised that this man might have refused me if I had offered him something else.
- I can't turn down the opportunity to bring peace, so I'll help you, Edmont," he said calmly.
- Then I'll need to summon another man. He's a little more radical than you are. And prefers to bring justice through brutality, passing judgement on his own. But I think you'll have time to talk to each other," I said calmly, noticing the way Uther frowned after he'd told me about Rorschach's methods. I'm even sure they'll argue more than once.
System, launch Rorschach's summoning.
A summoning into the character's world is performed.
The character is entered into the universe.
A second later, a man appeared in front of me wearing a rather ordinary cloak and hat that could be seen on many Americans, but there was something distinctive about him. The mask shimmering black and white on his face looked unusual, and even a little intimidating.
- Hmm, so it's a new world. And you...? - he looked at me questioningly.
- Edmont Kent, commander of the Argent Squad, meta-human countermeasures," I said calmly, looking at him. Unlike the others, he didn't show any sign of being in a subordinate position, and he'd been aloof from the start.
- Heh, Meta-humans? Judging by the name, that's what you call those with supernatural powers, isn't it? - he asked me.
- You're right. And my squad fights against those who break the law. If they break the law, it's never a small sacrifice," I told him calmly.
- And since you have summoned me, you want to recruit me, don't you? I can agree to that, but I will not change my methods," he said.
- That's why I want to offer you something else. You will be a member of our squad, but not officially. You'll be a vigilante, but you'll work for us, and we'll provide you with all the resources. Do we have a deal? - I asked him, holding out my hand.
- Apparently you don't want to ruin your reputation. Which is to be expected from a government organisation. I'd be doing what I have to do without you. But if you'll give me resources, I'll agree," he said, but he didn't shake my hand.
Well, we can say that the recruitment was successful. Now all that's left is to get them officially organised and introduced to the others. Then it's off to Atlantis for adventure.
