The crisp morning wind whipped against Haru's face as he emerged from the school gate. The streets were gradually awakening, bathed in the golden warmth of dawn. Turning the corner, he was greeted by a warm voice. 


"Hi, Haru, as gorgeous as ever," Tomoko called out, a sly smile playing on her lips. 


Haru let out a sigh, not even glancing at her. "Cut out your sappy lines and go to school in silence." 


Tomoko wrapped her arms around her chest dramatically. "So cold! Someday you'll break my heart." 


Haru acted like she wasn't listening to her. They walked on in tense silence, the only noises from the muffled chatter of students shifting towards them.
