Dante and Lux heard a mournful howl and rushed into a slight clearing. They stopped short when they saw an enormous black wolf pacing back and forth next to a bloody, mutilated figure on the ground. The wolf hunched down and flashed his teeth at them. Dante and Lux eyed him nervously. The wolf stepped toward them.
Luca shifted back and held his hands up in submission. He looked around at the carnage surrounding him. Dead wolves and humans lay everywhere. There were at least twenty, but there could have been more. There were bloody remains scattered throughout the clearing. As his eyes landed on Tatiana’s still body, he realized who it was and gasped.
“She is mine.”
Luca looked stunned but quickly looked at Nikau.
“I understand. She is your mate. We are her pack. I am a healer. I can help her, but you need to let me go to her.”
The wolf paced between them as his throat rattled with a warning growl. He looked at Dante, who shifted back as well.
