“Hello!” Norah's voice echoed. She couldn’t see anything; it was dark all around with no source of light, but Norah did not panic. She carefully walked around, extending her hands forward to see if there was anything in front of her. It felt like she was trapped in nothingness.
“Hello, is anybody there?” Her voice echoed again. She sighed and continued walking through the darkness until she finally saw a dull red light. Happy to see it, she focused on it as it grew brighter and came toward her at full speed. Norah's eyes widened as she stared at the red ball of fire rushing toward her. She began to run, crying for help just as the fire was about to hit her.
She woke up with a loud gasp. “You are finally awake,” someone said. Norah ignored them and scanned the room, but there was no sign of Jordan. Disappointment washed over her.
“He truly doesn’t care about me.”
The King and Queen were overjoyed to see their youngest daughter behaving like a normal child instead of a feral beast. The entire family was filled with joy.
“Do you know who I am?” the Queen asked.
“You are my Mummy.” Tears flowed down the Queen's cheeks. “What about me?” the King eagerly asked.
“You are my Daddy.” The King smiled, his eyes filled with tears. Her other sisters also began to ask if she knew who they were, but all Jordan could think about was Norah. He could feel how disappointed she was.
“Jordan! Jordan!!” the King’s voice brought him back to reality.
“What?” he asked with a stoic expression.
“How is she back to normal?” the King inquired.
“I don’t know. Also, you shouldn't get your hopes up. It may only be temporary.”
This made their hearts ache. “Please find whoever made her normal. We would pay any amount they asked for.” The Queen held Jordan’s hand as she sobbed. “Brother Jordan, you should ask Norah; she was the only one with her sister when it happened.”
“Oh my God! I wonder if she has woken up. Brother Jordan, I will go with you.” Jordan nodded while Amy followed behind. He strode with his long, slender legs covered in milk-white pants and an egg-yolk-coloured knitted sweater.
Both he and Amy were blocked by Chris.
“What’s the problem, Chris?” Jordan asked lazily.
“Norah’s guardian and his family are here.” Jordan sighed and turned to look at Amy.
“Check on Norah. If she looks strong enough, bring her to the flower parlour in the east wing.” Amy nodded and made her way to Norah.
“Let’s go and meet them,” Jordan said, with Chris following behind him.
Once Amy arrived, she saw Norah drinking soup while looking pale. Amy quickly went over and sat on the bed with a smile on her face.
“How are you feeling?” Amy asked, feeling a little guilty for not being by her side.
“Like someone almost drained all my blood,” Norah replied, taking another sip of soup.
“What do you mean?” Amy asked.
“I got lost in an unfamiliar part of the palace. I saw a girl in a cage helping her, and I almost got drained by her.”
Amy looked confused. She remembered when Jordan came to tell them about Marina. When asked if it was just Norah there, he claimed that Norah had fainted from shock. “So you were the only person with the little girl?” Amy asked.
“Hmm,” Norah replied shortly.
Jordan walked into the parlour filled with colourful flowers of different species. He approached the family, who were looking all agitated.
“Good morning,” Jordan greeted with a smile.
“We are here to take back my niece,” one of them said.
The smile remained on Jordan's face as he sat on a soft couch facing them. “Unfortunately, I cannot let that happen.”
