What do you mean you can't let that happen?” Uncle Ben asked.

“You, Norah, saw something you shouldn’t have seen. For her safety, it’s better if she stays here—until everything is resolved,” Jordan said lazily as he made himself comfortable on a white sofa.

“What do you mean Norah saw something she shouldn't have?” her aunt asked, panic evident in her voice.

Sasha, on the other hand, was trembling with fear. She wished they could take Norah and run far away from the Crown Prince.

“I can't disclose that. And since Norah is a witness and part of the investigation, she should stay here.”

At that moment, a maid entered, pushing a trolley. She professionally served the guests tea.

Once the tea was handed to the lawyer, he gulped it down quickly, paying no mind to how hot it was.

He was only there because he owed Ben. But thanks to the fear of the Crown Prince, he couldn't utter a word.

He looked up to see Ben urging him to say something. But when he met Jordan’s gaze, he felt like his breath had been stolen.

“Don’t you have anything to say as their lawyer? I’m sure you’re not here just to drink tea,” Jordan said calmly, twirling his finger along the rim of the beautiful china cup.

The lawyer quickly sat up and cleared his throat.

“Your Highness, Uncle Ben is Norah’s legal guardian. He should have been informed personally about this arrangement to avoid any misunderstandings.”

He was surprised he managed to speak without stammering.

But he shut up instantly when Jordan’s eyes landed on him again.

“So you expect me to drop everything and inform him personally about his niece’s involvement in the case I'm investigating? I already told his daughter to inform him.”

The lawyer gulped and wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, even though the room was air-conditioned.

Even the aunt suddenly felt sorry for him.

“That’s not what I meant—”

“You could’ve had one of your guards do it,” Uncle Ben interrupted.

Jordan scoffed.

“Looks like I’ve been too kind to you.”

His voice dropped into a menacing tone.

Sasha heard it—but before she could react, Jordan released his aura.

Everyone in the room dropped to their knees.

“I should arrest your daughter and niece for trespassing. Every citizen knows that once the clock strikes seven, no one is supposed to go there. But they broke the rules...”

Everyone began to sweat bullets, their faces pressed against the soft rug, struggling to breathe.

“What are you doing?” Norah ran to her uncle.

Jordan suppressed his aura, and they collapsed to the ground, gasping.

“Uncle, Aunt, Sasha—are you okay?” she asked, helping her uncle sit up.

The lawyer sulked, wishing he had just stayed in his office.

Amy was shocked that Norah was unaffected by Jordan’s aura.

It made her wonder—is Norah truly human?

“Why were they bowing to you?” Norah questioned Jordan. His expression was stoic.

Sasha wanted to warn her not to provoke him, but she was too weak and too afraid to speak.

“Your uncle and his family disrespected me.”

The lawyer exhaled in relief—he hadn’t been mentioned.

He decided to keep playing dead now that he had seemingly been forgiven.

“He dared to bring a useless lawyer to sue me?” Jordan added.

The lawyer held his breath.

He hadn’t been forgotten after all.

“I apologise for their disrespect, but they only acted that way because they’re worried about me.”

Jordan felt a spark in his chest.

He didn’t like hearing Norah apologise—she had done nothing wrong.

He felt the urge to hug her, to tell her she wasn’t to blame.

Damn mate bond, he hissed silently before turning to leave the room.

“You have thirty minutes to speak with them. After that, they are to leave.”

Jordan walked out of the room.

He needed to break the mate bond—and fast.
