James Vi Lionheart

Next morning, Damien woke up fully refreshed and in a good mood. After all, he had finally managed to sense the Essence and absorb it. It meant he could finally cultivate the Essence and grow stronger, something he desired with all his heart.

However, he was also worried since this could alert others, but there was no backing now. He could only place his hopes on his parents now, as they were powerful and influential. Best of all, they were loving parents, so they would definitely try their best to protect him.

It was a reckless but necessary move.

But he soon noticed Jasmine behaving weirdly as she was staying close to him all the time and checking him too often. He could feel the concern and worry from her gaze, making him wonder if his decision to awaken was wrong.

Damien played with his sister for hours, waiting for the time Jasmine would leave so that he could practice. But thinking about how stressed she was because of his awakening, he decided to stop his progress for some time.

As he sat on the ground while Elise played with a toy train, Damien thought, 'Status'

Damien sucked in a deep breath, trying his best not to show his surprise on his face. He was also mildly shocked at the sudden appearance of a new Acquired Skill.

'How did I get a new one?' Damien wondered, confused. The only explanation he could think of was his awakening, but it wasn't supposed to give any abilities in the first place.

'Still, Legendary Rank… what kind of bullshit is this?' Damien tried to suppress his excitement as he looked at his status.

The skill was something he really needed, and he knew how useful it could be. After all, the last thing he wanted was to let others know of his talent and his fast progress, which he would have if he followed his plans.

'Good. The first two skills are the best I could hope for,' Damien thought. 'As for stats, they didn't increase that much, but that's a given. I will need to train for that too. Good thing I have Mythical Talent so I can take them till SS.'

"Dada!"

Elise's voice pulled him out of his thoughts, as he looked at her sprawled on the ground with the toy train coming towards her mouth. He smiled and went towards her, preventing the train from entering her mouth.

While Damien was playing with Elise, in a room right beside him, Arthur and Jasmine were waiting for someone. The room was simple, with three comfortable sofas surrounding a wooden table. Above the table filled with fruits and wine, a beautiful ember chandelier hung.

"What did he say?" Jasmine asked.

Arthur smiled and answered, "He was saying he had lots of work, but when I mentioned that it's related to his grandson, he immediately agreed to come here. He should be here anytime soon."

"And why wouldn't I come for my pearls?"

Arthur and Jasmine both stood up hearing the voice, as they turned towards the door. They dropped on one knee upon seeing who it was.

In a simple white shirt, black trousers, and a gray vest, a tall, imposing middle-aged man with deep crimson red hair and a long beard with hints of gray stood there at the entrance. His voice and aura contained the regal, commanding presence he was.

James Vi Lionheart, the King of the Lionheart Kingdom.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!"

Arthur and Jasmine greeted with their heads hung low. Seeing that, James waved his hand and said, strolling inside the room, "I came here as a Grandpa, not a king, so there is no need for the formalities."

Jasmine stood up and, smiling, gave her father a tight hug and said, "I missed you, Dad."

"Aye, my little princess has really grown up, huh," James chuckled as he patted her back. "Also, you should just come to the palace whenever you want to meet me. I am not that busy to even ignore you."

"I just didn't want to disturb you," Jasmine smiled, as she pulled away from him.

James then turned towards Arthur and scoffed, "You only remember me when you're in need, huh. Brat, you didn't even report to me about the Tier 6 Rift; do you know how much trouble it caused me?"

"Come on, old man, are you still mad about that?" Arthur rolled his eyes and said. "I just wanted to see my kids; what's wrong with that?"

James clicked his tongue but dropped the topic. After all, he had done something similar when his wife gave birth to Jasmine. He could only shake his head and ask, "So, what happened? You sounded pretty serious on the call?"

"About that…" Arthur said, as he started walking towards the door. "It's better if you see for yourself. Also, there's no need to worry; they are perfectly fine."

James frowned hearing that but didn't say anything and simply followed him. Together, the three of them entered the twins' room where they usually played around.

Entering it, they chanced upon a sight that melted their hearts with sweetness. The twins were full of smiles as they ran around the train, their giggles relaxed them and made their resolve to protect them even stronger.

"Kiddo, guess who came to visit you?"

James laughed as he went down on his knees with his arms wide open. Hearing his voice, Elise stopped and turned, only to find her grandpa, whom she had become very fond of. After all, he brought her lots of toys to play with.

"Oppa!"

She happily ran towards him but stumbled midway, almost crashing on the floor, but James quickly caught her in his arms. Standing up, he spun as little Elise giggled along with him.

Seeing their play, Damien was in a dilemma. Should he also act like that? But it was too embarrassing, and he was also scared of this grandpa of his. He was a true Law Stage powerhouse, a King ruling over one of the ten domains of the World of Miracles.

He was just one stage below that of the Gods—how can he not be nervous? The only thing calming him was that he was a sweet, loving Grandpa who never acted like a King around them.

"Oppa!"

Making up his mind, he walked forward and greeted him. Soon, he felt a dangerous gaze sizing him up, as he resisted the urge to shiver. Still, he forced himself to calm down.

Meanwhile, James had his heart shaken as he looked at his grandson, his eyes filled with astonishment and shock. However, he soon calmed down and smiled, ruffling his hair, "Our boy is growing up, huh."

He put Elise down and crouched near Damien. Then he took out a pendant and put it on Damien's neck, saying, "This is a gift from Grandpa. Never take it off, understand?"

Seeing him nodding, James heaved a sigh of relief before turning towards Arthur and saying in a serious tone, "You two are here by relinquishment of your position from the Thirteen Royal Court Guards and are to shift to Mistvel by tomorrow's afternoon. The Mistvel County will be under your jurisdiction and you shall manage the Tier 6 Rift there. Is that understood?"

Understanding that he was just helping them, Arthur smiled and bowed while keeping his palm over his chest, "As Your Majesty Commands."

"Oppa! Gifts!"

"Haha! Of course, you will get one too, dear."
