CHAPTER 6

CHAPTER 6~

I sobbed from day to day, wondering how my life got like this.

I really miss Louis.

I suddenly heard a knock on my door distracting me from my thoughts.

"What do you want?" I asked the person.

"You wanted us to stock up the house right? Well aren't you coming with us?" Emily asked me.

"Why should I? I wasn't the one who finished it up." I said back to her.

"Fine. Don't come with us. It's your choice." She said to me and left the door.

I thought about it for awhile and decided to join them. This is my home, I should be in charge of things.

After I quickly dressed up, I came out to join them.

"I thought you weren't coming." Nate said to me and I ignored him.

They looked at each other and exchanged a look.

We made our way out to the woods, going into the city.

I kept walking in the front, far away from them. I didn't want to hear their chatters.

I didn't know and see what happened clearly, next thing I knew, I fell.

What the hell!

I fell inside a big hole. I tried to climb out but was stuck down.

"Guys!!! Guys! Help me!" I yelled out to Nate and Emily.

They leisurely walked to stand right above me looking down at me.

"Oh look. She fell." Emily said.

"Oh baby, you should be more careful. You never know what holes has been dug around here that's waiting for unsuspecting girls to fall in." Nate said to me as he squatted down.

"Will you both just help me out and cut the bullshit?" I said to them.

Emily burst out laughing.

"You really don't get it yet, do you?" Emily asked me.

"Get what? What are you talking about?" I asked her.

"You see babe, I don't like the fact that you threatened to kick us out after everything we've been through. It didn't really sit well with me." Nate said to me.

"Why are you bringing that up now? Help me out of this place!" I said to him.

"No... Now why would we do that when we dug the hole specially just for you." Emily said and Nate chuckled.

"What?" I was thorn to believe what was happening right now.

"You are getting in the way of our happiness babe. And I can't have that." Nate said to me.

"Fine. I won't get in your way anymore. Just please, help me out of here." I pleaded with them.

"I'm sorry. I don't believe you." He said to me and smirked.

"Why are you doing this to me? I thought...I thought you loved me. I thought we were all friends. So tell me why?" I asked them both and they pouted.

"Why?, That is what we'd all like to know. Why is all these happening to us. What did we do to deserve this? I don't see anyone answering that question for us so.... There's no point in asking why anymore." Nate said to me and smiled.

Everything about his smile scared me now.

He stood up and took my bag that I left on the ground, about to leave with Emily.

"Please. Nathan. Emily. Please help me." I said one last time to them but they just turned to give me a sad look before leaving me there.

I started trembling. I was feeling everything at once, the betrayal, fear, anguish, pain and all the hurt.

Please this can't be happening.

Not to me. Not like this.

I shriveled up like a ball, lying down on the muddy hole ground, crying my eyes out.

I wish none of these things were real. I wish it was all a dream.

~~~~~
The next day I woke up, shivering from cold because I had slept out in the open without any warmth.
I heard a certain growl which I knew all too well.
Zombies.
I tried to hide myself but it was impossible given the circumstance I was in.
I heard another sound, followed by some struggles.
Then I heard their voices.
Emily and Nathan.
"Nathan?" I called out.
They moved slowly until they were in sight.
"Oh you're still here." Emily said.
"Seeing you like this is such a bother." Nathan said and looked away from me.
"Then help me out of here. Please." I pleaded again.
"I have a better idea." Emily smirked and whispered something to Nate's ear.
At first, He looked like he disapproved of what ever it was she said to him then he suddenly smirked as well.
They both moved out of my view and came back dragging the zombie with them.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked them.
"Having some fun." Emily said to me and smiled.
They both threw the wounded zombie in the hole with me.
"Shit!!! What the hell is wrong with the both of you!" I said while dodging the zombie's reaching hands.
"Giving you some company cause we'll both be on our way soon." Emily replied and folded her arms.
"Why, do you want more company? All you have to do is ask." Nathan said to me.
"Please stop this and help me out of here." I said to looking right at him.
But I didn't see any type of remorse or compassion in his eyes.
There was nothing good about him anymore. He was just as bad as the zombies even worse cause there was nothing controlling him.
Emily shot one of my guns she got from the house in mid air which made a lot of noise.
My eyes widened in shock.
"Are you both really trying to get me killed?" I asked them and Emily chuckled.
"Why don't you ask Louis. Oh wait he's dead. Totally forgot." Emily smirked at me.
Louis.
Oh my God.
What I'm thinking better not be true.
"Did you have something to do with what happened to Louis?" I asked Nathan and he pouted his lips mockingly.
He did.
"I can't believe this! He was your friend! Our friend! And you killed him?" I was furious.
"You should be less worried about him and more worried about yourself. Very soon this woods will be swarming with zombies and I'm pretty sure they won't find it difficult finding you here." Nathan said to me and smiled.
"So you want me dead too?" I asked him with tears rolling down my eyes.
"I didn't. But you gave me no choice." He said and gave me a pity look.
"I hate you!" I yelled at him.
"I hate you both. I wish I never took you both in. I wish we were never even friends!" I said angrily to them.
"Hate is a strong word baby. Anyways I hear some of the zombies coming down here so we better go and leave you at it. Just know that I loved you once before, maybe that'll give you some kind of peace." Nathan said to me and moved away from view, leaving Emily behind.
"Why?" I asked her and she shrugged.
"Come on, don't act like I'm the only one capable of betrayal. You betrayed me too before." She said to me.
"I've betrayed you Emily and we both know that." I said to her.
"Look at that, so you're going to deny it. The fact that you knew how much I liked Nathan before you, you knew I had the biggest crush on him but when he asked you out, you still said yes to him, knowing fully well how I felt about him. Now what do you call that if not betrayal. As if that wasn't enough, you flaunted your stupid relationship in my face all the time, telling me what a great guy he is as if you didn't do anything wrong. I've hated you for what you did since then and now, I'm just enjoying my revenge." Emily explained.
"You realize we were just eleven when you had something for him. I thought the crush died." I said to her.
"You only thought of what you wanted to think to make yourself feel better." She said to me.
"Please Emily. Let me out of here and we'll talk things through." I said to her and she smiled.
"No." She simply replied.
"So you would rather see me dead?" I asked her and she hesitated before answering.
"Actually, yes I would. Seeing your face only reminds me of how much I hate you." She said to me and chuckled.
The growling of the zombies became louder and closer.
"I better go. It was nice seeing you for the last time my dear friend." She said and smirked before leaving me there alone once more.
I stood there looking up in the sky, waiting for the zombies to come.
After a few minutes, the whole place was crawling with zombies.
Some of them heard the growling of the zombie in the pit here with me and started coming this way.
They fell in one after the other, trying to get to me.
I simply gave up and didn't struggle to fight as they bit into my skin.
The pain was overwhelming and excruciating but I still didn't scream out in pain.
As I felt my eyes giving up light and my heart beat stopping slowly, I thought of one last good thing. My Mom and my Sister.
I smiled as life went out of me.
The End ~
~~~~~~~

~BACK TO THE BEGINNING ~

My eyes flew open once my alarm beep went off, I turned to look at the clock and furrowed my eyebrows.

Am I dead?

I looked up at the ceiling and it seemed familiar, I slowly sat up on the bed, looking around my surroundings.

What the hell is happening?

This is my room. My old room in my Mom's house.

Is this what happens in the mind when you become a zombie?

I inspected my room and saw that it was the same as it was before the chaos started.

I checked the calendar on the wall and saw the date.

I always marked the date of a day of importance to me.

After the zombie outbreak, I had lost count of the days but always kept account of the month.

I knew it was close to winter, because of how cold it was but right now, I didn't feel cold like it's a season close to winter.

It felt warmer like summer.

I went downstairs slowly, afraid of what I might find.

Last time I was here, everywhere was filled with zombies, including my Mom and sister.

I made my way slowly to the kitchen and heard some noises coming from there.

I tiptoed to avoid making a sound and I peeped at the person in the kitchen and saw my Mom cooking breakfast.

She looked..... Well and not sick. Like a normal human being and not like a zombie.

Is this real?

How can it be?

Last time I saw her, she was a zombie and tried to attack me.

I came out of hiding to properly see her well.

"Oh Diana, you're out early." My mom said to me.

"Mom?" I called out to her still in disbelief.

"Yeah? Is everything okay honey? And Why aren't you getting dressed for school yet?" She asked me.

"Mom is it really you?" I asked her again.

"Diana what's wrong with you? Did you have a bad dream?" She asked me looking worried now.

"Yeah. Yes I did." I said and ran to hug my mom tightly.

"Whoa. Do you want to tell me about it?" She asked me and I nodded.

"Mom you're not going to believe what happened." I said to her and we both sat down in the kitchen as I told her everything that had happened.

Perhaps indeed, it was all a dream and everything that happened wasn't real.

I was glad and relieved at the same time.
