Rise and shine sleeping beauty. You don't wanna be late for school. Oh I forgot, you're the head prefect so it doesn't matter" Adam heard Ahmed and immediately opened his eyes.

" What time is it?" He asked.

"7:50 am" Ahmed answered.

Picking up his phone, he checked, it was just 6:50 am

" Very funny. " He told Ahmed.

" Good morning to you too, since you don forget say you suppose greet. " Ahmed said and Adam gave a puzzled look. Great way to wake up.

Freshening up and heading downstairs, he greeted everyone in the living room.

" Baba, sit and have breakfast." Mrs. Yisa said from the kitchen.

" I'll be late, mummy, I'll eat at school." He said, though he didn't like school food because it was terrible and he might not eat until he gets home.

" Yeah that disgusting food they serve at school." Ahmed said, joining them in the parlour, Adam glared at him.

" Don't worry, your brother would take you with the car. " She said stepped out of the kitchen, placing a plate of jollof rice before him. He sighed before picking up the spoon.

" Ahmed still doesn't have a driver's license, mummy " He said. It was Ahmed's turn to glare.

" You're 18 why haven't you gotten your's too." Ahmed said.

" Hush. I wasn't talking about Ahmed. Alex would drive you. Eat up now. Quick." Mrs. Yisa said, adding more cabbage to his rice.

" I'm off guys. Bye mma." Alex came out.

" Wait son, please take your little brother to school first, thank you." Mummy said.

" Kai, mma by the time I reach the terminal all the good buses must have left." Alex complained.

" It won't take long." She said, Alex hissed a little before grabbing the keys.

" Someone I carried for nine months has grown to the extent of hissing at me." She said, sarcastically.

" You know it wasn't meant at you" Alex said.

" Mmhmm." She hummed .

" Thanks mummy. Let's go." Adam said after he hugged his mother goodbye.

" Sure, kiddo." Alex who was still sulking said as they hurried out.

" Yoo! What's up bro." Olamide, Adam's closest friend and also the school's Health prefect engaged him in a bro hug as he entered the school gate.

" You're here before 7: 30, shocker." Adam smiled

" Uggh just because no be me dey open school gate no mean say I be late comer. " Olamide said as they walked to class.

(Just because I don't come super early doesn't mean I'm a late comer.)

" Haha funny. " Adam said.

" Oga drop the English abeg, you're making feel bad that I'm not as good as you. " Olamide said.

" We suppose dey lead by example na. Prefects. " Adam said before dropping his bag on his chair and walking to his duty post.

" Save me the preaching. U don pay your senior trip money? "

" Hmm guy, that senior trip ehn.. on God. " Adam answered.

" I swear. Na u and Hauwa dey gate this week abi? "

(You and Hauwa 's duty post is at the gate, right?)

" Yep. " He answered.

" Oya na. Later. " Olamide said, holding up two fingers.

" Good morning, Miss. Abdulazeez. " He greeted, Hauwa, his class mate and also the female head prefect when he reached the gate.

" Good morning Mr. Yisa. Did you sleep well. " She feigned an accent.

" Why I did, miss. Thank you. " He played along.

" Wonderful.. lovely weather today isn't it, Mr. Adam. " She said holding back her laugh.

" It sure is, miss." He replied before meeting her eyes and they both burst out laughing.

" Awfa." He said after they calmed down.

It was almost closing Time when Adam and Hauwa were called to the principal's office.

" You take the art classes end I'll take science? " Hauwa said and he nodded as he prepared to deliver the announcement class by class.

" Here goes " he said and she smiled before walking away.

" May I have your attention, guys... Hey... Guys... Please settle down..." He tried to speak. Art students were mostly wild and lousy.

" Silence!" He said hitting the table and they quieted down a bit.

" Awfa, headie... Wetin dey sup na." Some one from the back said and they was mummurs and snickers.

" An announcement. The deadline for the payment of the senior trip fee is on the 23rd of this month.." they were mummurs again, he had to raise his voice.

" And the date has been fixed.. from on the 30th of this month till the 18th of next month... All nessesary payments should be made to your class rep who would submit to the school's authority. " He said

" So The excursion na for three weeks be dat" someone asked.

( So the excursion is for three weeks?)

" Apparently, yes. " He answered.

" We fit pay the money on the 29th na " someone said.

" Haba, they gats prepare accomodation, food and everything before that day na. If you pay on 29... It's too late. " He answered.

" So we no fit pay on 29th? " Someone asked..

' deep breath.. calm down ' Adam said in his head.

" I personally think it's too late then but you fit go ask VP or principal if you like. " He told.

" Me na on 30 I go pay oo... " Someone from the back said and the whole class got roudy again as the students laughed.

(I'm paying mine on the 30th)

" That's it, guys, thanks for your time..." Adam said walking out of the noisy class.

' one down, 4 to go. ' he said to himself before heading to the next class.
