Adam glanced at his fully packed trolley and backpack trying to figure out if he forgot anything.
" My God! Must I always do everything for you?" Ahmed walked in the room and Adam gave him a confused look.
" You forgot to take the laptop." Ahmed rolled his eyes.
" Oh, that. Well the laptop belongs to both of us so I figured you might need it when I'm away." Adam explained.
" Chaii, last born, no be you dey prepare for exams? Abeg carry that tin joor." Ahmed said, sitting noisily on the bed.
(You're the one preparing for exams, come on, take it.)
" That's nice of you. Thanks." He said, putting the laptop in his backpack before smiling at Ahmed sweetly and he smiled back.
" Whatever.. I don't want to be known as the guy with the annoying little brother who failed WAEC and NECO. " Ahmed said.
' he just had to ruin the moment.' Adam thought and chuckled.
" I hear say una dey go zoo and dam and... Whatever." Ahmed said sounding disinterested.
( I heard you all were going to the zoo and dam?)
"Yep " Adam answered strapping on his backpack and holding the trolley box.
" Well try not get eaten... Or drowned." Ahmed said causing Adam to laugh out loud.
" I'm gonna miss you too big bro." He said before going outside.
" Aww, my baby... I'm going to miss you." Mrs Yisa said, hugging him tightly.
" I bought 3 litres of fuel." Aaron said coming inside after parking the car.
" Senior man, have a safe trip." Aaron hugged his brother and patted his head.
" I'll call you when I reach." Adam said.
" You better." Aaron ruffled his head playfully before going to his room.
" I thought yaya was driving me?." Adam asked when Aaron went inside.
( Yaya means older sibling)
" I'm driving you, sweetie." Mrs. Yisa said with a smile and Adam forced a smile.
" Okay, mummy."
*******★★★******
" Don't forget to take your allergy pills, and call me if you feel sick, sweetheart." Mrs. Yisa said, they had reached the car park but she wouldn't let him go.
I won't, mummy and the school nurse is always standby" Adam assured. He couldn't even remember when last he took those cause he almost never had to.
" Don't forget to say your prayers everyday, make sure to call me when you arrive and at least twice a week, or thrice.. "
" Sure mummy " he answered.
" If you run out of money you can call me or your brother Andrew or uncle Tsado and Aunty Margaret.. don't call Aunty mana you know I don't like her.. " she ranted.
" Yes, mummy... I'm running late. " He reminded her.
" I'm sorry.. it's just.. I'll miss you so much. " She said, tearing up.
" Don't cry, I'll be okay. And I'll miss you even more. " He hugged his mother.
" Okay. I'll be going now. " He said opening the door.
" Be sure not to skip any meals, baba, eat well okay, "
" I will mummy. Bye, love you. " He quickly closed the door and got his stuffs before she continued, she waved at him from the window and he waved back.
" For a minute there I thought your mystery girlfriend was the one who brought you and you were making out in the car, you know.. good bye kisses. " James, one of Adam's friend joked as they bro hugged.
" You're still on that mystery girlfriend thing ain't ya. " Adam smiled. James had always insisted that Adam had a mystery girlfriend he was dating cause there was no way someone as handsome and smart as him could be single unless he was hiding her.... Or he was gay and still in the closet.
" You're the only single senior in our whole school, Adam. " James said and Adam laughed.
" I believe you. " He said.
" You better, cause it's true. " Olamide who appeared from nowhere said. They greeted.
" Like you have one." Adam said.
" Currently no, cause I don't want to be tied down, I like my variety. But you... haven't dated since primary school." Olamide said,
" He dated in primary school?!" James asked.
Olamide laughed and answered " yeah"
" No believe wetin he tell you." Adam told James.
(Don't believe anything he tells you)
" I need you all in two straight files, boys and girls..... Bring out your tickets." The social studies teacher said and they all assembled. The teacher arranged them in the bus.
It was four hours already.
" You've been to Jos right? How many hours left?" Adam asked Olamide who sat by his left.
" Omo, with the way this driver dey go we still get like six hours oo." He said and Adam felt nauseous, He hated traveling.
( We have like six hours left.)
" Oh shut up, Ola. Haba, e no reach six hours na." Hauwa who sat by his right said to olamide.
(Come on, it's less than six hours.)
" Yeah, give or take four more hours. " James who was directly behind Olamide said.
" Na una know that one. " Olamide shrugged.
(Whatever)
" You know what four boring hours is good for... " Hauwa wriggled her eyebrows at Adam.
" I don't think it's a good idea to do that in a bus, girlie. "
James said with a wink and Olamide turned to him,
" Dude! ".
James gave a 'leave me alone' look and Adam chuckled while Hauwa rolled her eyes.
" Uploading new chapters....pleaseee.." she said to Adam.
"I'm not in the mood... besides I'll be distracted." He said.
" Oh come on... please.. okay, here." She said putting her headphones on his head.
" Music isn't gonna help" he said.
"Abeg, no be song I wan play. It'll quiet down the noise. See?" She said raising the headphones from his ear and placing it back on.
(Come on, I'm not playing music.)
" So you get sense?" Adam teased and she playfully slapped his arm,
(So you're smart?)
he laughed before taking out his phone and typing away.
