Second Chance part 3

It might seem confusing why I chose to remain a human with limitations instead of picking another race. After all, elves, dwarves, and Atlanteans had their own unique powers and blessings. However, the answer was simple—with the power of supreme time magic and a system to enhance my talents, was I truly inferior to any genius of the other races?

Having settled on my power and talent, I paused for a moment and asked the goddess for suggestions regarding my remaining three wishes.

She smiled and offered me several choices.

I could choose additional talents to strengthen my abilities.

I could have an in-built market system, where I could buy talents and abilities as needed.

I could acquire a bloodline system, which would allow me to gain traits from different bloodlines after coming into contact with them.

Lastly, I could have a love system, which would enhance my charm, making me irresistible to the opposite gender across all races.

Hearing these options, I was stunned.

Never in my life had I thought so hard about anything. If I had known that making wishes required this much effort, I would have never asked the goddess for suggestions in the first place.

But then, her next words made me collapse to the floor in shock.

"In your past life, you lacked talent. A talent system will provide you with the means to overcome sudden misfortunes and catastrophes.

Having a human bloodline may seem like a limitation, but while you cannot inherit racial traits from other species, you can still gain the bloodlines of fantastic beasts.

For example, Salazar Slytherin had the power of Parseltongue, allowing him to communicate with snakes. The Dumbledore family possessed the ability to call upon a Phoenix in times of need. Many other bloodlines carried special gifts.

And then... there is love.

Because of your orphanage status, disfigured face, and disabilities, you were looked down upon in your past life. Whenever you approached others with kindness, you were met with humiliation and cruelty. While a few people treated you well, those moments were rare—so rare that you cherished them as your only true happiness.

You longed to be loved, but love was never a luxury you could afford.

You don't want to be bullied, humiliated, or ignored again, do you?"

Her words shook me to my core.

Tears welled up in my eyes as memories of my past life flooded back. Every lonely night spent crying, every moment I cursed the gods for making my life a living hell, every time I faked a smile, hoping someone would see the pain beneath it.

My heart felt heavy, my fists clenched at my sides.

Taking a deep breath, I slowly lifted my gaze.

The goddess's eyes were deep black, yet they held a timeless charm and unfathomable wisdom—as if she had witnessed countless eons pass.

In that moment, I realized how small and insignificant I was in comparison.

Just when I had started to feel confident after making my first two wishes, her words brought me crashing back to reality.

I sighed heavily, accepting the truth.

Then, for the first time, I kneeled.

I lowered my head, my voice barely a whisper, yet filled with raw emotion.

"Please… help me."

It was not a demand, not a request made out of arrogance or entitlement.

It was a plea—from the depths of my heart.

At that moment, I understood what it truly meant to be a mortal.

And the goddess, looking down at me, simply smiled.

The goddess looked at me with warmth in her eyes and said, "I have brought you here to atone for the mistakes made by another god. Though it may seem like I am late, every prayer and every curse made by my believers will always reach me. I will never grant someone more than they deserve, nor will I take back something they do not. I will always care for you, my child. Even if you cannot feel my presence, know that I will always be with you."

Her words carried a deep sense of reassurance, yet also an undeniable weight of divine responsibility.

She then continued, "For your third wish, I suggest you take the Sunshine System. It will come with a beginner's package that will enhance your charm—not just with the opposite gender, but with every being that possesses intelligence and breathes. As long as they see you, they will naturally lower their guard. Unless someone has a deep desire to kill you, it will be impossible for them to hate you.

This system will also allow you to earn Sunshine Points by performing acts of kindness. The tasks don't have to be grand—you can gain points by covering a sleeping person with a blanket, helping your mother with the dishes, taking care of young beasts when their parents are away hunting, or even assisting a friend with homework. Every good deed you do will reward you with corresponding points.

Additionally, with my blessing, I can provide you with a fantastic beast of your choice upon your birth, along with the beginner's package of the Sunshine System."

I knelt there, pondering over her words. Her suggestions had truly prevented me from wasting my wishes.

Love… Yes, why wouldn't I crave love? After all, love was the one thing I had been deprived of in my past life.

Fantastic beasts… Who wouldn't want one of their own? I had always dreamed of having a pet, but my past circumstances never allowed it. I couldn't afford to set aside time or resources for a pet, so I had to abandon the idea. But now… now I had a chance to have not just a pet, but a legendary creature as my companion!

A spiritual Phoenix, a mighty Thunderbird, a pure and ethereal Unicorn, or even a ferocious Dragon… The possibilities sent shivers of excitement down my spine.

At that moment, I made my decision—I wanted the Sunshine System as my third wish.

Some might think that earning points by constantly helping others would be a burden, but wasn't this exactly what I was good at in my past life?

Before my accident, I had often taken care of younger children. I played with them, taught them, and took them on walks. When the older caretakers were exhausted, I would massage their tired legs and shoulders, bringing them comfort and a rare smile.

Now, I could do all of that and earn rewards for it. So why hesitate?

"Pikachu, I choose you!" I almost blurted out before quickly correcting myself.

"Sunshine System, I choose you!"

Thinking about having my own fantastic beast made me practically drool with excitement.

The goddess let out a soft chuckle before smacking me lightly on the head, bringing me back to reality. I grinned sheepishly.

"Boys will be boys," she muttered.

And so, my third wish was finalized.

The Sunshine System came with several benefits:

People would naturally lower their guard around me and feel comfortable in my presence.

I could easily communicate with fantastic beasts and animals that possessed a certain level of intelligence, even without knowing their language.

The beginner's package would grant me an infinite charm, making it impossible for people and creatures to hate me unless I actively provoked them.

I would receive not just one, but two personal fantastic beasts!

Originally, I was only supposed to get one beast, but since I had chosen Time as my elemental power, the goddess made an exception.

"Having a time-based beast will deepen your connection with the God of Time," she explained. "Time is a forbidden power—no mortal can wield it without consequence. A time beast will help you adapt and control it."

And so, after much deliberation, I made my choice.

For my first beast, I chose a Phoenix. Who could resist the allure of having an immortal, majestic bird as both a loyal companion and a flight assistant?

For my second beast, I chose Celebi—a Pokémon with the power of time and nature. Celebi was like me, possessing both time-based abilities and a strong connection to the natural world.

With my third wish decided, my journey was beginning to take shape.
