Prelude to magic riot part 5

Just as I was trying to process everything, I heard a voice.

"Well, let me explain."

I turned to see Martha entering the room, followed by every member of my family.

"Last night, a massive fire erupted near the Unicorn Tribe. On top of that, we lost contact with four of our forest elf patrol groups. The Ranger Commander took matters into his own hands and, along with a small troop, left for the scene of the fire. Upon reaching there, he found the entire unicorn herd on high alert, surrounding both Fleur and you. They did not relax even when they saw the elves, who are responsible for their safety. Surprisingly, the commander reported that the fire did not spread; it did not even harm the grass. It only killed the poachers and burned the alchemy chains used to trap unicorns.

Right at that moment, a few house elves appeared, making the situation even more tense. Fortunately, Fleur shouted and explained everything—how both of you had escaped to meet the unicorns, then faced the threat of poachers, and how a fire emerged from within you, saving everyone.", Martha explained, then she continued to speak,

"Aimè, I have to believe that you are either extremely lucky or, rather, that you have sheer dumb luck on your side."

Grandma Amelia then scolded,

"You have no idea how terrified we were when the house elves started shouting in panic. After we found both of you missing, our hearts nearly stopped. Thankfully, Beannie appeared in front of us and assured us that you were safe in the forest. When we arrived, we saw Fleur sitting quietly, keeping you close, while the entire unicorn herd surrounded you both... It took us a whole hour to convince them that we were your family before they finally allowed us to approach you. Golden-black flames kept flickering all over your body. Your mother almost fainted at the sight, but when she realized it wasn't harming you, she felt relieved. Still, she was on the verge of losing her mind seeing you in that state. Both of you truly crossed the line this time."

Hearing this, I felt too guilty to even look at my mother. Overwhelmed with emotions, I cried. Perhaps my human body couldn't help but feel deep remorse. I cried my heart out.

Seeing me like this, my mother pulled me into a hug. The warmth of her embrace comforted me, and though I eventually stopped crying, I continued to sniffle, refusing to let go. My mother gently caressed my small back, soothing me.

Martha, watching the scene, finally spoke again.

"Well, since you are safe and your family is here, I'll take my leave. I cannot stay away from the temple for long. Moreover, I need to get to the bottom of this incident. It's still unclear how such a large group of poachers managed to infiltrate our territory without alerting anyone. But before I go, Aimè, congratulations on your first magic riot. However, here's a warning from your lovely godmother—do not display those flames in front of anyone. Your charm can still be attributed to your Veela bloodline, and your ability to communicate with animals can be explained as a rare talent. But these flames—there is nothing to which they can be attributed. Humans cannot wield elemental powers. You, on the other hand, are carrying blessings and, on top of that, an elemental flame. If this knowledge reaches mankind, they will wage war to get hold of you or worst harm you."

She let her words settle before adding, "Moreover, I must remind everyone—by the decree of the God of the Sun, I am required to take Aimè to our lands to train him in Elven Archery. I had planned to wait a few more years, but since he has already undergone a magical riot before even reaching the age of five, the time has come."

At this, my father, who had been silent until now, finally spoke.

"But what exactly are those flames? Fleur only described that they emerged from Aimè, consuming the entire area, burning every binding, poacher, weapon, and the whole camp. And yet, they healed the unicorns. I've never heard of a flame that can both destroy and heal."

Martha opened her mouth to respond but then hesitated. Instead, she remained silent.

Aunt Apolline, concerned by her reluctance, called out to her.

"Martha?"

Martha looked at me for a moment before shaking her head.

"I need to consult the ancient texts. I have never heard of a Golden-Black Flame before. I promise to share whatever I find, but only after three weeks. After that, you must come to our lands."

Grandma Delle, my other grandmother, frowned.

"But why after three weeks? Is something significant going to happen?"

Martha answered calmly.

"My dear godson must stay in the Elven lands for now. He has already undergone his magical riot, and it is best to train him in Elven Archery at this stage. This will help him control his flames and perhaps allow us to understand them better."

With that, she bid everyone farewell and left.

The room fell into silence. Though my parents had initially planned to end our journey with a visit to the Elven lands, none of us had expected that I would have to stay there.

For a while, my family continued discussing the matter before finally leaving the room to allow me some rest. Even my pets tried to come see me, but my parents pulled them away.

Lying there, I knew that it would be difficult for everyone to understand what those flames were. But not for me.

"System, show me my property panel."

....

A lot had changed since I became a wizard. My system panel had new talents, traits, and—wait! My pets could be hatched!

"System, how do I hatch my pets, and why will it take only ten minutes?"

[Ding! The host just needs to drop a single drop of blood on each egg. Since they were gifted by Goddess Nyx, they will hatch in just ten minutes.]

"But System, the word 'mutated' appears alongside their names. Will it be safe to hatch them?"

[Ding! They are mutated due to the host's magical riot. To understand their mutations better, please review the newly acquired talents and traits.]

"Well, alright then. Bring them out. While they are hatching, I can go through my new talents."

Two eggs appeared beside me. One was reddish with shades of purple and black, while the other displayed various shades of green. They were both significantly larger than me. Thankfully, only a drop of my blood was needed to hatch them. I placed a drop of blood on each and then turned my attention to my newly acquired talents.

First, Guardian Druid, a blessing granted to me by Goddess Demeter.

Next, High Priest of Goddess Amaterasu, which appeared yesterday when I prayed to the gods for aid. Her blessing enhances all my fire-related magic and allows me to generate flames on my own. Additionally, it grants me a passive healing ability, meaning I can heal even without calling upon Rosalind. I never imagined I could receive blessings from gods of different pantheons.

Then my gaze fell upon my first two traits, Loved by All and Mortal Born to be a Priest. Seeing these, I realized how I had caught the attention of Goddess Amaterasu. I silently thanked her for her blessing before moving on.

(Meanwhile, in a certain divine realm, two goddesses were busy exchanging photographs of a particular child. Both of them sneezed.)

The Blessing of the Unicorn allows me to summon a phantom unicorn to fight. However, since it has mutated, my unicorn will have flames covering its body. Wait a minute...

"System, is my flaming unicorn essentially a Rapidash?"

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for guessing correctly. But don't worry, only you can summon this Pokémon—I mean, phantom.]

I silently thanked the Unicorn leader for contributing to my ever-growing Pokémon collection.

Moving on to my traits, Spirit Contract appeared when I contracted Rosalind, the Fairy Queen. As my magic reserves grow, I can use this trait to contract other fairies, faeries, or even spirits.

Lastly, Elemental Flame. This would finally help me understand the golden-black flames that occasionally manifested on my body. Clicking on the trait, I read its description, and upon understanding it, I helplessly looked up at the ceiling.

Now I understood why Martha had asked me to hide my flame powers and why she desperately wanted to me bring to their Elven lands.

Elemental Flame was originally supposed to grant me Goddess Amaterasu's golden flame, a fire imbued with purification and healing properties. It could cleanse any blood curse, negative energy, disease, and even impure thoughts. However, because I already wielded the power of darkness, the two merged, mutating into a golden-black flame. Now, in addition to purification and healing, my flames had destructive capabilities.

Never before in history had a single being wielded flames with such opposing natures. No wonder Martha was so worried and eager to take me to their temple for guidance from their god and goddess.

"System, can I use Sunshine Points to increase my skills like Charms or Potions?"

[Ding! Only Talents or Traits can enhance skills. Sunshine Points can only be used for summoning in the presence of a Moonstone or for purchases in the Market.]

I sighed and continued staring at the ceiling, deep in thought. However, the sound of cracking interrupted my daze.

Closing my system panel, I turned my gaze to the two eggs. I didn't want to miss their birth.
