A sudden flash of light made me shut my eyes instinctively. When I opened them again, I saw two small creatures floating in front of me. Their bodies were curled up, their eyes closed, as if they were in deep slumber.
Then, I felt it. Three distinct heartbeats resonating within me.
The first was my own, pounding with excitement.
The second was slow yet full of vitality, filling my body with an unfamiliar but invigorating energy.
The third was warm, radiating a sense of pure joy that made my chest feel lighter.
I closed my eyes again, letting the rhythm of our synchronized heartbeats wash over me. It was as if they were complementing each other, merging into a perfect harmony.
[ Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully hatching a Mutated Phoenix and Celebi! ]
My eyes snapped open at the system notification. The moment I laid eyes on the scene before me, I froze. I wasn't sure whether to feel amazed or completely helpless.
The so-called "Mutated Phoenix" had taken the form of a Pokèmon called Hisuian Braviary, but its appearance had changed significantly. Instead of its usual white and black feathers with purple flames adorning its face, it now had a maroon-red and dark black feathered body. Its tail was no longer feathery but shaped like a jet, sleek and sharp.
The wings had transformed as well, resembling reddish hands with black feathers hidden beneath. The feathered crest atop its head had reshaped into something akin to a crown, adding a mysterious aura to its presence. But the most striking change was its plume, which had taken on the form of golden-black flames, accentuated by white markings that resembled piercing eyes.
It was different—no, mutated—because of my affinity with Golden-Black Flames. It had evolved beyond its original form, adapting to the unique energy that resided within me.
I exhaled slowly, gathering my thoughts before speaking.
"System, show me the panel for the Phoenix."
A glowing screen materialized before me.
[ Phoenix System Panel ]
Name: None
Age: 1 year
Talents: Immortality, Nirvana, Healing, Psychic Shockwaves, Flames of Destruction
Skills: Teleportation, Talon Strike, Flame Tornado, Psychic Burst, War Battle Cry
Remarks: A loyal and intelligent Pokémon—I mean, Phoenix—powerful since birth and mutated due to the host's affinity with Golden-Black Flames.
I blinked at the panel, momentarily stunned. This is insane.
The sheer brilliance of its abilities left me speechless.
Talents:
Immortality and Nirvana—these were exclusive to the Phoenix race. My Braviary would never die. Even if it were to fall in battle, it would simply revive anew from its own flames.
Healing—unlike other Phoenixes that heal with their tears, my Braviary had evolved beyond that limitation. Instead, it could generate a golden flame that instantly healed wounds, similar to my own abilities.
Flames of Destruction—this was by far the most terrifying. Braviary could unleash flames imbued with pure devastation, incinerating everything in its path.
Skills:
Teleportation—instant movement, no restrictions. Braviary could appear anywhere at will.
Talon Strike—its steel-like talons could rip through enemies with ease, cutting through armor like paper.
Flame Tornado—a large-scale attack of absolute destruction. This skill summoned a massive tornado of Golden-Black flames, raining down death upon enemy forces.
However, it was the last two skills that made my heart race.
Psychic Shockwave—this ability sent powerful waves of psychic energy crashing into the enemy, sealing their magical abilities and rendering them powerless.
War Battle Cry—an ability so terrifying that even I shuddered. With a single roar, Braviary could drive opponents into madness, breaking their minds with sheer sound alone.
I exhaled deeply, my fingers tightening into fists.
"This… This isn't normal," I murmured. "These abilities—these skills—this is beyond anything a regular wizard could control. Am I really walking the path of a summoner instead?"
I couldn't deny it. My magic wasn't limited to just casting spells anymore. With a being like this at my side, I was commanding creatures of unimaginable power.
A strange excitement stirred in my chest.
I looked at my Phoenix—no, my Braviary—and it met my gaze with intelligent eyes, the golden-black flames on its body flickering with joy.
"I'll call you... Bria. How is it? Do you like your name?" I asked, looking at the Phoenix.
The moment she heard her new name, she let out an excited screech, her flames flaring with renewed vigor as if to express her joy.
I smiled before turning to Celebi, who was fluttering all over the room, her eyes filled with curiosity. She zipped from one corner to another, taking in every detail. Amused, I waved my hand to call her over. She hovered near me, her large, round eyes blinking with innocence. I couldn't resist the urge to reach out and rub adorable, cute head. But controlling my impulse, I instead asked the system to display Celebi's status panel.
A translucent screen appeared before me.
[Celebi System Panel]
Name: None
Age: 1 year
Talent: Time Travel, Telekinesis, Nature Caretaker, Soul Search
Skills: Psychic Bomb, Leaf Storm, Time Block
Remarks: A loyal and spiritual Pokémon— I mean, Partner— powerful since birth. Capable of time travel and always up for mischief.
Reading through the list of Celebi's talents and skills, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. Who wouldn't dream of time travel? But brushing that aside, I carefully examined each ability.
Talents:
Time Travel— Celebi acts as a key to travel between the past and present, using my magic reserves as fuel.
Telekinesis— A unique ability allowing Celebi to manipulate objects and defend itself.
Nature Caretaker— Grants Celebi the ability to communicate with creatures blessed by the Goddess of Nature.
Soul Search— Allows Celebi to sense and distinguish between good and evil souls.
Skills:
Psychic Bomb— An attack that disorients the opponent, making them dizzy.
Leaf Storm— Summons a powerful storm of razor-sharp leaves to inflict damage.
Time Block— A unique skill that can temporarily freeze an opponent in time while the rest of the world continues to move.
The sheer power of these time-related abilities made me pause in awe. With gratitude, I sent a silent prayer to Goddess Nyx for this gift.
Returning my attention to Celebi, I smiled and said, "Now, about your name… How about Celia?"
The cute creature chirped happily, fluttering in excitement. Bria, who had been watching, joined in, playfully flapping her wings and sharing in the joy.
I chuckled at their enthusiasm before explaining about our other family members. Since the three of us shared a blood connection, I could directly relay their images and names through our bond.
The moment I mentioned their elder siblings—Pung, Sniff, and Row—both Bria and Celia squealed with excitement. Their chirps and calls filled the room.
Just then, a familiar figure flew in through the window. It was Row. The moment she saw Bria and Celia, she froze midair, her body stiffening dramatically before she plummeted to the floor in exaggerated despair.
"Row!" I called out, startled.
Bria and Celia rushed over, surrounding her and preparing to heal whatever imaginary injury she had suffered. But before they could do anything, I stopped them with a laugh. "Alright, enough with the drama. Come here, all of you."
Row quickly snapped out of her act and flapped over to us, taking her rightful place as the eldest sibling. With a sense of authority, she began explaining things to the two newcomers, her tone serious yet affectionate.
Before long, Pung and Sniff sneaked in through the window as well. Sniff, being the responsible elder brother, immediately took charge, pulling out food from the pouch on his belly. He carefully distributed it to Bria and Celia, who chirped in delight after taking their first bite. Then came Demiguise along with the Kneazle and other creatures.
The once quiet room soon filled with happy chatter, their voices growing louder by the second.
And then—
"Who are these two? What have you done again?"
The stern voice made everyone freeze.
Slowly, I turned to see my mother standing at the doorway, her arms crossed, an exasperated sigh escaping her lips. Behind her, Fleur peeked in, her eyes lighting up in delight at the sight of the new additions.
Great. Now, how do I explain this?
This was my only thought as I braced myself for the storm ahead.
