Chapter 47: The Battle Continues

Chapter 47: The Battle Continues

Kuma recalled Empoleon, sighing.

"That was a mistake. Alright, your turn—Magnezone!"

A UFO-shaped Magnezone floated onto the battlefield, its metallic body gleaming under the lights.

"Lock-On!" Kuma commanded.

Ron's expression darkened.

"Greninja, Protect!"

"Supersonic!" Kuma ordered.

Greninja quickly activated a protective barrier, blocking the Supersonic attack.

Ron clenched his fists.

"Where the hell is your Zap Cannon?!"

Kuma's grin widened mischievously.

At that moment, Ron's mental image of Kuma as an honest, straightforward guy completely shattered.

"This guy's got tricks up his sleeve."

Now that Magnezone's final move was revealed, Ron had no choice but to push forward.

"Greninja, Power-Up Punch!"

With no other viable attacks, Ron had no choice.

Grass Knot wouldn't work against Magnezone since it could float.

"Lock-On, then Zap Cannon!" Kuma shouted.

Ron's eyes narrowed—

"Finally!"

If he didn't force Zap Cannon out now, Greninja might actually lose.

As Magnezone locked onto Greninja, Ron clasped his hands together.

Greninja followed suit—

His body was engulfed in water.

The water burst away, revealing Ron-Greninja!

---

The crowd erupted.

"Ohhh!! We're not seeing things, are we?! Greninja has evolved again!! Is this Ron's trump card?! This Greninja looks completely different, and—huh?! It has a gigantic Water Shuriken on its back!!"

The announcer's voice boomed throughout the stadium.

---

"This brat... How much more is he hiding?" Professor Oak muttered, scratching his head.

"Lillie, you've been traveling with him the longest. Have you seen this before?"

"Yes," Lillie replied. "According to Ron, he has a special ability called the Bond Phenomenon. It allows certain Pokémon to transform into a stronger form. He calls it Bond Evolution. But it's not permanent—it only lasts during battle. He also says that, even without his special power, if a trainer forms a strong enough bond with their Pokémon, they too can achieve Bond Evolution. Just like how Sylveon evolves—through deep bonds with its trainer."

"I see... This warrants serious research." Professor Oak muttered. "Once the battle ends, I'm forcing Ron to let me study his Greninja!"

Everyone listened attentively, fascinated by the new discovery.

---

Ron swung his arm forward, and Ron-Greninja followed his movement exactly.

Greninja drew his massive Water Shuriken, then slashed through Magnezone, sending it flying.

The attack interrupted Magnezone's Lock-On!

"Since Greninja's shuriken is part of its body, using it as a weapon isn't against the rules. It's just like how Marowak wields a bone club or how Farfetch'd fights with a leek."

Kuma frowned.

"Magnezone, Magnet Bomb!"

Magnezone sparked with electricity, releasing glowing blue spheres at Greninja.

Ron grinned.

"Block them!"

Greninja whirled his shuriken, deflecting every Magnet Bomb.

"Lock-On, Zap Cannon!" Kuma ordered.

Taking advantage of Greninja's focus on defense, Magnezone successfully locked onto its target.

Then—Zap Cannon fired.

Direct hit!

---

Even though Greninja wasn't Water-type anymore, Zap Cannon still dealt heavy damage.

Greninja collapsed onto one knee—he was at half HP.

"One more hit and he's done for..." Ron muttered.

But he wasn't giving up.

He punched forward.

Greninja immediately dashed forward, slamming Magnezone with a boosted Power-Up Punch.

Kuma's face darkened.

"Ignore it—use another Zap Cannon!"

Magnezone floated higher, avoiding Greninja's attacks.

It locked on again, preparing Zap Cannon.

Ron gritted his teeth, then snapped his wrist forward.

Greninja hurled his giant Water Shuriken straight at Magnezone!

The shuriken struck Magnezone midair, cutting through its armor—

Magnezone let out a metallic screech and crashed to the ground.

But—Zap Cannon was already fired.

It struck Greninja head-on.

The arena fell silent.

Both Pokémon lay on the ground, motionless.

Then—they both fainted.

---

Double KO!

Kuma recalled Magnezone.

Ron recalled Ron-Greninja.

For the first time, Ron had lost a Pokémon in the League Tournament.

The crowd exploded in cheers, acknowledging Kuma's strength.

The announcers praised both trainers.

Ron met Kuma's gaze.

They both nodded, acknowledging the other's skill.

---

For their next Pokémon—

Ron chose Charizard.

Kuma chose Excadrill.

"Sandstorm!" Kuma immediately commanded.

"Sunny Day." Ron countered without hesitation.

The two weather effects clashed, with Sunny Day overpowering Sandstorm.

Kuma didn't bother fighting for control of the weather.

Instead—

"Swords Dance!"

"Your Excadrill is already at a disadvantage. This round is already lost for you." Ron smirked.

"Charizard, Heat Wave!"

Charizard unleashed a scorching heatwave, enhanced by Sunny Day.

Excadrill, despite spinning with Swords Dance, was completely engulfed in flames.

The burn damage kicked in.

Excadrill staggered.

"Return, Excadrill!" Kuma quickly withdrew his Pokémon before it collapsed.

"Too late." Ron grinned.

"Charizard, Dragon Claw!"

Charizard raced forward, slashing Excadrill mid-air before it could be recalled.

A brutal combo attack—

Heat Wave → Burn Damage → Dragon Claw.

Excadrill smashed into the ground, unconscious.

---

"Ohhh!! That was incredible!! Once again, Ron's Charizard demonstrates its terrifying power!! Kuma is down to his final Pokémon!"

Kuma sighed, then smiled.

"Alright. No more holding back. Go, Aerodactyl!"

The fossilized king of the skies took flight, screeching as it soared above the battlefield.

Ron narrowed his eyes.

"He finally brought it out."

He recalled Charizard.

"Go, Aerodactyl!"

A mirror match!

The crowd went wild.

Two Aerodactyl. One battle. Who would come out on top?
