Chapter 64 The Lost Chansey

Chapter 64 The Lost Chansey

"Return, Pidgeot," Falkner said as he recalled Pidgeot. "You have my sincere respect. This Zephyr Badge is yours."

He handed the badge to Ron, who thanked him and accepted it. Cosmog suddenly jumped out from the backpack, snatched the Zephyr Badge, held it up against the sunlight, and giggled happily.

Ron helplessly retrieved the badge and said, "Little Nebby, stop being naughty."

Cosmog didn't seem to care and didn't want to return to the backpack either. Instead, it simply lay on Ron's head, curiously watching Falkner and his apprentices.

"You really are popular among Pokémon," Falkner said enviously. "This one hasn't even been captured yet, but it's traveling with you willingly."

Ron laughed awkwardly and didn't say much. After bidding farewell to Falkner, Ron checked the electronic map and prepared to head towards Azalea Gym, passing by the Charizard Valley along the way. It would be good to let his Charizard visit there.

This time, Gengar's victory was still somewhat forced. Plus, it was really careless. Without the Focus Band it held, Ron figured Gengar would have lost the first round easily. He decided to properly discipline Gengar in the future.

Focus Band: A Pokémon holding it can sometimes survive a potentially knockout attack, retaining at least 1 HP.

Without it, Gengar would have already lost due to its own recklessness. Shaking his head, Ron stopped thinking about this. Currently, what concerned him the most was Cosmog's evolution. He had given Cosmog the first-generation Exp. Share. Even without the cheat's bonus, Cosmog had gradually reached level 35. At level 43, it would evolve into Cosmoem. At that point, carrying it around would become a huge problem. Ron didn't have Ash's monstrous strength to lift a 999.9 kg Cosmoem.

Forget it. When Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem, he'd just stay in one place for a few days, wait until it evolves again, and then continue his journey, Ron thought.

While Ron was pondering these things after leaving Violet City, he wasn't paying attention and was suddenly knocked flying by a figure. Ron rubbed his aching stomach after hitting the ground. His physical fitness had reached over thirty after intense training; what could have hit him so hard?

"Chansey," came a very familiar voice. Ron looked up, and sure enough, it was a Chansey.

Chansey repeatedly nodded its head, apologizing. As for why it didn't bow? With such a plump body, could it even bend over? While apologizing, Chansey pulled out an egg from its pouch and handed it to Ron.

Ron knew about this. Chansey could lay several eggs every day, and its eggs were nutritious and extremely tasty. As a kind-hearted Pokémon, Chansey would give these eggs to injured Pokémon or people it encountered by chance.

Since Chansey had apologized sincerely, Ron didn't mind much. Plus, having a delicious and nutritious egg meant he could enjoy a good meal. And considering this Chansey was also a top-grade Pokémon, he'd forgive it this time.

...Wait?! A top-grade Pokémon?! Ron rubbed his eyes, making sure he wasn't seeing things. Since when did such top-quality Pokémon throw themselves at him on the road?

"Roar!" An angry growl came from nearby. A furious Ursaring, holding onto its lower body with an awkward posture, chased after Chansey. Seeing Chansey, its eyes turned bloodshot with hatred. Without hesitation, Ursaring fired a Hyper Beam at Chansey, with Ron also caught in the line of fire.

"What the heck! Gyarados, block it with Hyper Beam!" Ron quickly called out Gyarados, who countered with its own Hyper Beam.

Ron glanced back at Chansey and asked, "What exactly did you do to it? It's completely berserk!"

Chansey timidly made a few noises. After hearing the explanation, Ron subconsciously covered his lower body. This kind of pain was something every man would understand; no wonder this Ursaring went crazy.

"Finish it, Gyarados. Use Hydro Pump," Ron said, looking at Ursaring sympathetically. He hoped it wouldn't have lasting trauma from this. After all, if someone was about to have an intimate moment with their partner and suddenly got hit below the belt out of nowhere, anyone would go crazy and fight to the death.

Gyarados fired a Hydro Pump, knocking Ursaring away and sending it crashing through two trees before finally collapsing unconscious. Ron threw a Pokéball, capturing Ursaring successfully.

After watching the Pokéball being transported away, Ron turned back to Chansey and asked, "Can you tell me how you managed to provoke it?"

Chansey shyly explained. The more Ron listened, the more black lines appeared on his face. Finally, Ron was speechless. This Chansey was truly unique—not just in its incredible talent, but also with its ridiculous ability to get lost. Getting lost all the way from Ecruteak City to Violet City—was this Chansey secretly Roronoa Chansey?

"If you continue this way, you'll end up back in Kanto. Your sense of direction is hopeless. Why don't you travel with me? I'll take you back to Ecruteak City," Ron said.

Chansey shook its head, calling energetically. Ron, full of frustration, shouted, "You got lost 59 times and separated from your group over 200 times! How on earth have you even survived until now?"

Chansey waved its hand confidently and walked forward.

"You're going the wrong way."

Chansey turned around.

"Why are you turning for no reason?"

Chansey returned to the right path.

"Can't you just walk straight?"

Chansey changed direction again and kept walking.

"Turn left!"

Half an hour later, Chansey sat on the ground, completely devastated and pale from exhaustion.

Ron's mouth twitched continuously. In the past half-hour, he had lost count of how many times he corrected Chansey's directions. Turning around, Violet City was still close by—probably only four or five hundred meters away.

"I can't take it anymore. Let's have a battle," Ron said, nearly collapsing. "If you lose, you'll become my Pokémon. I'll just take you there directly—no more letting you walk on your own!"

With that, he sent out Pheromosa. Chansey stood up confidently, declaring itself to be strong, and charged forward with Double-Edge.

"Dodge with Quiver Dance, then Triple Kick," Ron ordered.

Pheromosa elegantly danced in mid-air, lightly avoiding Chansey's Double-Edge. Immediately afterward, it executed a Triple Kick, delivering an axe-like heel kick that slammed Chansey into the ground. Chansey got up quickly, using Soft-Boiled and Heal Pulse, instantly becoming adorable again.

"What incredible endurance. Then let's not give it any chance to breathe," Ron said. "Triple Kick again, don't stop!"

Pheromosa instantly kicked Chansey into the air again, then immediately followed up with another kick, launching it even higher. Seeing Chansey preparing another Heal Pulse, Pheromosa's eyes sharpened. With explosive speed, it appeared above Chansey, landing a High Jump Kick. Chansey crashed into the ground like a meteor, creating a huge crater.

Ron quickly covered his nose and mouth to shield himself from the dust and debris. When the dust finally settled, Chansey lay unconscious in the crater, its eyes spinning dizzily.

"Go, Great Ball!" Ron threw a Great Ball, capturing Chansey, then transferred Dragonite back to storage.

"Come out, Chansey," Ron called out Chansey and used a Full Restore, quickly reviving it to full energy and cuteness.

Ron smiled happily; if used properly, Chansey could indeed stall out entire teams of opponents by itself.
