Chapter 52: The Vanishing Truth

Satya's breathing was ragged, his body trembling as the last echoes of the vision faded from his mind. The weight of the revelation crushed him—Veer had not only been imprisoned but erased.

Saanvi steadied him, concern deep in her eyes. "Satya, are you okay?"

He swallowed hard and nodded, though his mind was still reeling. "I… I saw something. Veer. He was shackled here. But it wasn't just imprisonment. Someone—something—took his memories away."

Professor Raghav's brows furrowed. "That explains the missing records. His story wasn't lost to time—it was deliberately erased."

Devraj shifted uneasily. "Which means someone still doesn't want it uncovered."

A cold gust swept through the chamber, carrying whispers that seemed to curl around them like invisible fingers.

"Leave now. Before it is too late."

Saanvi shivered, but she didn't back away. Instead, she turned to the engraving, tracing the faded lines of Meera's figure. "If Veer was erased… what happened to Meera?"

Satya's jaw clenched. That was the missing piece. He had spent so long searching for Veer's fate that he had overlooked the most important question—what had become of Meera after Veer was taken?

"We need to find out," Satya said, his voice firm. "If they erased Veer's existence, they must have done something to her too."

Devraj frowned. "We're already walking on dangerous ground. Whoever covered this up didn't just want history hidden. They wanted it forgotten."

Professor Raghav exhaled sharply. "Then we need to look beyond official records. If they erased Veer from history, the only real traces left might be through people—stories passed down, rumors, whispers."

Saanvi's eyes widened. "The royal servants. The commoners who lived outside the palace. They must have known something."

Satya nodded. "We start there."

The decision was made. They would leave the chamber, but not out of fear. They had come too far to turn back now.

But as they turned to exit, the whispers returned—stronger this time.

"You cannot rewrite what is already lost."

And then—

A loud crack.

The ground trembled, and dust rained from above. The walls seemed to pulse, as if the chamber itself was alive.

Saanvi grabbed Satya's arm. "We need to go, now."

They sprinted towards the exit, the sound of shifting stone echoing behind them. The moment they crossed the threshold, the heavy stone door behind them slammed shut, sealing the chamber once more.

Silence.

The four of them stood there, breathless. Devraj ran a hand through his hair. "That was a warning."

Satya stared at the sealed entrance. "No. That was a challenge."

He turned to Saanvi, determination burning in his eyes. "Whatever they tried to erase, we will bring it back."

Saanvi met his gaze and nodded. "Together."

They had uncovered the first layer of the truth.

But the past wasn't finished with them yet.
