Visiting Nam's Parents
Gen and Lee arrived at Nam's house in the evening. The place was warm and welcoming, just like Gen always described.
Nam's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Park, greeted them at the door with bright smiles.
"Ah, finally, we meet the wife!" Mrs. Park said, pulling Lee into a hug before she could react.
Lee stiffened but quickly bowed. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Park."
"No need to be so formal," Mr. Park said with a chuckle. "We're like Gen's parents, so we're your parents too now."
Lee nodded. She wasn't used to this level of warmth, but she respected them because they genuinely cared for Gen.
Mrs. Park turned to Gen and smirked. "So, you finally caught yourself a wife, huh? I thought no one could handle you."
Gen grinned. "It was hard work, but I managed."
Lee shot her a glare. "She's exaggerating."
Mrs. Park laughed. "I doubt it."
They all sat down for dinner, and as they ate, Mrs. Park kept teasing Gen.
"So, Lee," she said with a playful smile. "Has Gen always been this shameless?"
Lee sighed. "Unfortunately, yes."
Gen gasped dramatically. "Excuse me? I'm a wonderful wife."
Mrs. Park chuckled. "Now you see why she's like this. She grew up with us spoiling her."
Lee suddenly understood. Gen didn't just develop her personality out of nowhere. Nam's family was just like her—teasing, affectionate, and lively.
Lee shook her head. "It makes sense now…"
Gen grinned. "See? I was raised well."
Lee rolled her eyes. "That's debatable."
The dinner went on with laughter and stories. Before they left, Mr. Park patted Lee's shoulder.
"Take care of Gen," he said. "She acts strong, but she's softer than she looks."
Lee nodded. "I know."
Gen smirked. "I heard that."
Mrs. Park waved. "Come visit again, both of you!"
Lee sighed. "I'll try."
Gen nudged her. "That means yes."
A New Home
On the way home, Gen stretched her arms and sighed. "That was fun."
Lee nodded. "Your family is… interesting."
"They're the best," Gen said. Then she turned to Lee. "By the way, we should look for a new apartment in Seoul."
Lee blinked. "Why?"
Gen shrugged. "We need a proper place to live together, right? My place is small, and yours is too serious. Let's find something new."
Lee thought about it. It made sense. "Alright. We'll check some places soon."
Gen grinned. "Look at us, planning a future together."
Lee sighed. "Don't get ahead of yourself."
As they walked, Gen glanced at Lee. "You're thinking, 'Is this really happening?'"
Lee stopped. "How did you—"
Gen smirked. "I just know."
Lee narrowed her eyes. "Sometimes, you know too much."
Gen chuckled. "Maybe I can read your mind."
Lee huffed. "Ridiculous."
Gen smirked but said nothing.
Because, in reality, she could read Lee's mind. But that was a secret she'd never tell.
