Lee sat at the dining table, absently stirring her coffee. Her body felt off—like she was carrying an invisible weight. It wasn't exhaustion, but something deeper, something strange.
She sighed and took a sip, only to immediately crave something sweet. Pushing her cup aside, she grabbed a chocolate bar from the counter and unwrapped it. The moment she took a bite, she felt slightly better.
It had been like this ever since that night with Gen. She had woken up feeling drained, like she had run a marathon in her sleep. And now, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was… different.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Gen walked in, her arm still wrapped in a bandage from her failed attempt at flying.
Lee frowned. "How's your hand?"
Gen waved her good hand. "Still attached."
Lee gave her a look. "That's not funny."
Gen chuckled but sat down across from her. "I'm fine, babe. Just need to rest."
Lee narrowed her eyes. "You tried to jump off a building. That's not fine."
Gen sighed. "I just wanted to prove something to you."
Lee looked at her carefully. "That you have powers?"
Gen nodded slowly. "Yeah… but after that night, things have been off. I don't know why, but I feel weaker. I can't fly, I don't see things clearly, and sometimes I can't even hear thoughts properly."
Lee put her chocolate down. Her own symptoms. The tiredness. The cravings. The way her body felt different.
Could it be connected?
She stared at Gen. "You think… this started after we—"
Gen smirked. "Had an amazing night together?"
Lee rolled her eyes. "Gen, I'm serious."
Gen's smirk faded. "Yeah. I've never felt like this before. I don't know if it's because of you, but something changed."
Lee looked away, biting her lip.
If Gen was right, then what did this mean? Had she taken something from Gen? Or had Gen given something to her?
She clenched her fists. "We need to figure this out."
Gen reached across the table and held her hand. "We will. Together."
Lee met her gaze. "Yeah… together."
But in her heart, she knew this was only the beginning.
Adding Suspense and a New Character
Scene Addition: Later that day, as Gen rested in her room, her phone buzzed.
An unknown number.
She frowned and picked up. "Hello?"
Silence.
Then a low, familiar voice spoke. "G… what's happening to you?"
Gen's blood ran cold.
She knew that voice.
Someone from her past—someone who knew about her powers.
And they had been watching her.
