Vivienne's voice, filled with anger, rang out above my head,
"Apologize to Brent! Otherwise, the wedding tomorrow is canceled!"
She knew how desperately I wanted this wedding. For years, my greatest wish was to put on a suit and marry her.
Just as she expected, I lowered my head like someone who had done something wrong, the liquid remaining in my eyes stinging painfully.
My voice trembled slightly from the pain,
"I'm sorry, Brent."
The woman's cold voice came from the doorway, "Someone will come to pick you up at eight in the morning."
Vivienne didn't know that tomorrow's wedding, for me, was an escape.
It was the day I would leave her for good.
Early the next morning, an assistant came to take me to the wedding car.
Just as Brent had said, I arrived at the wedding venue wearing my hospital gown.
Brent's suit sleeve scraped against my exposed wrist as he threw his large coat over my head,
laughing with a snort,
"Congratulations on your wedding, Everett. Did you think putting on a suit would make you the groom? It's just to cover up your blind eyes, so you don't embarrass yourself."
Not seeing the look of despair he had hoped for on my face, Brent was about to lose his temper. Vivienne's displeased voice suddenly rang out beside my ear,
"Where's the suit you prepared, Everett? Are you deliberately trying to get back at me? You're going to marry me looking like this?"
The assistant helped me walk towards the dressing room. I had just taken off my hospital gown,
when suddenly an excited female voice sounded from behind.
"Even though you're blind, you're quite a looker. Be a good boy and don't make a fuss, sister will take good care of you."
I felt a cool sensation on my wrist, it was handcuffs.
The woman's body pressed against me, I was completely powerless and couldn't push her away no matter how hard I tried.
I could only open my mouth and bite down hard on her body.
"You cheap bastard, you're asking for it!" The enraged woman dug the tip of her high heel into my abdomen, her panting breath hot on my neck.
Just as the woman's soft lips were about to bite down on my pecs, a sharp, surprised male voice came from the doorway.
"Bro Everett! How could you do something like this on your wedding day with Vivienne, have you no shame..."
The woman in front of me stopped her movements, panting and speaking disdainfully.
"He threw himself at me, I wouldn't even look twice at a blind man."
As soon as she finished speaking, countless accusatory voices erupted around me, those venomous words attacking me like a swarm of poisonous snakes. "Really, I never imagined Ms. Stratton's fiancé would turn out to be blind!"
"No wonder he's lost his sight, daring to cheat when he has Ms. Stratton!"
"What a shameless adulterer!"
I frantically grabbed at my torn clothes, burying my head between my knees, my entire body shaking violently.
Suddenly, the air fell silent except for the crisp sound of high heels.
"Everett, how dare you betray me!"
My neck was violently gripped, Vivienne's eyes blazing red, filled with hatred.
I used all my strength to painfully utter a few words.
"I... didn't..."
The feeling of suffocation gradually surrounded me. Vivienne abruptly released her hand, instead firmly gripping my chin.
"Everett, after all these years together, you should know I despise betrayal above all else. I think you've lost your mind to be with a woman like that. Since that's the case, you won't be attending today's wedding."
"Someone, take him to the psychiatric hospital!"
As I was forcibly lifted up, my heart instantly sank to the depths.
If I was sent to a psychiatric hospital like this, I'd never be able to return to the Everhart family in this lifetime. With these thoughts racing through my mind, I struggled desperately to break free from my restraints. Once liberated, I took a deep breath and sprinted forward with all my might.
