Chapter 7

The phone operator on the other end was surprised:

"Mr. Stratton, don't you know? Your resignation was approved with your signature yesterday."

"When did I ever sign such a thing?"

Hearing the anger in her boss's voice, the subordinate quietly replied:

"...Yesterday afternoon, around 3 o'clock."

Fitch suddenly remembered. Yesterday afternoon, his subordinate had brought him a batch of documents to sign, and Sapphire's name was mentioned among them.

However, the subordinate had only said half of what they intended before being abruptly interrupted by him.

He thought Sapphire had modified next month's curation plan, as she had promised him to move Xanthe's work to a more prominent position.

At the time, he was quite pleased. As soon as the subordinate left, he eagerly called Xanthe to share the news.

His mind began to rapidly replay the events of the past few days.
