Elowen's smile froze instantly upon hearing the nurse's words.


"And what surgery? How come I didn't know about this?"


She repeated the nurse's words in a daze, her eyes vacant.


The nurse frowned as she observed Elowen's bewildered expression.


"Are you really the deceased's family member?"


Clearly, the nurse's tone was filled with doubt. After scrutinizing Elowen for a long while, she finally continued:


"A few days ago, the deceased had a sudden heart attack and urgently needed surgery. We made countless phone calls and sent numerous messages..."


"But we couldn't raise enough money in time."


"In the end, before we could gather the funds, the old lady had already..."


The nurse paused, but ultimately voiced the cruel reality.


However, as Elowen listened to the nurse's explanation, her eyes widened, as if she had heard something unbelievable.
