Chapter 5

Upon arriving at the Tame Wild Horses facility, the person in charge rushed out to greet me.

"Master Belmont, you're finally here! Our Tame Wild Horses program is counting on you!"

After saying this, he noticed my injuries and hesitated, "Master Belmont, are you... alright?"

I smiled, "I'm fine. The higher-ups said I'll be stationed here from now on. This will be my home."

I've been an orphan since I was little; my parents abandoned me early on.

I used to crave love, but now it doesn't matter whether I'm loved or not.

The person in charge supported me as we walked to the wolf enclosure.

Dozens of wolves were kept in the enclosure. He explained that a local family raised wolves.

However, the wolves were too ferocious and often escaped, injuring people.

So they wanted me to come and tame them.

As soon as I arrived, perhaps due to my presence, the previously howling wolves fell silent.

Some even retreated.

But a few large wolves kept staring intently, their eyes gleaming with hunger, no different from looking at prey.

I scanned the area and found all the necessary tools.

After casually picking up a whip, those large wolves still didn't back down.

"Awoooo—"

The sound was startlingly loud.

The person in charge, Mr.Master Belmont, I know your reputation," Grey said trembling as he looked at me. "You became the nation's first wild horse tamer at such a young age, but these wolves are terrifying. Are you really..."

Before he could finish, several wolves suddenly tried to charge out of the enclosure.

The supervisor screamed and retreated repeatedly in fear.

I calmly walked up to them, my eyes fixed on theirs.

When they still dared to howl, I forcefully cracked my whip on the ground several times, creating loud snaps.

After just a few cracks, the wolves instantly fell silent.

They whimpered as they looked at me.

The supervisor grasped my hand repeatedly, exclaiming praise.

"Clap, clap, clap" - a round of applause rang out.

Levi approached, holding Crysta's rabbit.

"Fintan, you're amazing. I'm truly impressed!" he said.

As he spoke, he stroked the rabbit's fur. "However, taming people is quite different from taming wild horses, you know."

I ignored him, petting the once-fierce wolves inside the enclosure.

Under my touch, they obediently whimpered a few times.

Levi didn't seem to mind being ignored and continued: "A fiery woman like Crysta won't respond to your violent methods. She prefers the gentle type."

"Like me."I stared at him, speechless and choked up. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

Levi replied calmly, "This rabbit is the daughter of Crysta and me. If it weren't for that love letter, do you think we would have missed out on so much time together?"

As Levi spoke, he moved closer to me.

As he approached, the big wolf I was petting suddenly became agitated, its eyes fixed on Levi and the rabbit in his arms.

It was hungry. I instantly knew this wasn't good.

Ignoring the pain from my wound, I lunged at Levi, shouting, "Get away!"

Caught off guard by my sudden move, Levi stumbled backward, and the rabbit leaped from his arms.

Wolves surrounded us, and there was a large hole under the fence.

"Cottontail!" I cried out in terror, trying to catch the fleeing rabbit.

I knew how much Crysta cared for it. How could I not?

After spending so much time with it, I had come to see the rabbit as part of my own little family.

It scampered away in panic, and I tried to bend down to grab it.

But my waist, bitten by the wolf, wouldn't bend.

I could only watch helplessly as the rabbit ran into the wolf enclosure, where several wolves spotted their prey willingly entering their trap.

There was no time to grab my whip. I frantically tried every method I knew to tame wild horses, attempting to make them stop.

But our time together had been too short; I couldn't connect with them at all.I watched in utter despair as the pack of wolves tore into the rabbit's flesh, devouring it alive.

When Crysta rushed over, she witnessed the gruesome scene of the rabbit being eaten.

A few tufts of rabbit fur still remained on the ground.

"Cottontail!" Crysta screamed in anguish, collapsing to her knees.

She frantically clutched at the few remnants of fur on the ground.

She wailed and cried out, finally raising her eyes, filled with boundless hatred.

"You! You killed Cottontail!"
