All Knowing Witch

Chapter 3: All Knowing Witch

Noah leaned down and picked up a small, polished golden crystal shaped like a diamond. It looked too exquisite to have dropped from a rodent. Upon looking deeper into it, he received a system message that obscured his view.

[You have found a golden ability crystal.]

[Golden Ability Crystal: A crystal from which a random ability can be obtained. Its color and shape ensure there's a chance to obtain an ability from higher trials! It disappears upon usage, and its skill is branded to the one who activated it.]

"Uh, oh, an ability from higher trials… I need to learn more about them, so I'll use this crystal and pray for the best."

He hadn't received much love or attention in his life, so he no longer cared if he was greedy and wanted the best for himself. Shameless could be his second name for all he cared.

One thought was enough to activate the crystal. As soon as Noah wished to use it, it shone and slipped from his grasp, swirling before him until its golden light drove away the cave's darkness.

Noah instinctively closed his eyes. The bright light stung, so he rubbed them while the crystal finished its work, branding itself to his soul. At last, the burning pain faded, and he opened his eyes to see the (1) next to "Acquired" in his status window.

Like before, he pressed his finger on the system window.

[All Knowing Witch's Savior: Noah Night has formed a link with All Knowing Witch, Eleonora, and therefore is the only one who can bring her out of the Universe Library.]

"…what's that, a summoning ability?" Noah asked aloud. "And it's spoiler-free?"

It seemed he had to learn more from Eleonora herself. He wasn't sure if this was a big catch from the higher trials, but summoning sounded pretty advanced.

He used the All Knowing Witch's Savior ability.

A bright light like the sun materializing appeared in front of him, hurting his eyes again. He stepped back, covered his eyes with his forearm, and sensed the light converge into a stunning figure.

"Ah, I love that you didn't wait to summon me! Speaks volumes about trust! You hit the jackpot by getting me, and now I'm head over heels for you!" said a mature voice from across Noah, though he still couldn't open his eyes. "Eh, where is the handsome man who saved me?"

Noah unconsciously slipped into the darkness, still unable to see. It was as though the darkness protected him, leaving Eleonora confused as she looked for him.

He waved his free hand, so she noticed him. "Here you are! Don't hide your handsome face, my husband!" she said, skipping over to grab his shoulders and shake him. "Let me see, let me see!"

When Noah finally lowered his arm and peeked at her, Eleonora gasped and stepped back, pressing her thighs together. "Mother of all knowledge! So damn handsome! That hawk-like stare is making me hot! Fortune favors us both! Husband, I'm the All Knowing Witch who sneaked into the Universal Library, stole their knowledge, and hid away from those monsters, waiting for my destined one!"

Noah listened carefully, and now that his vision was back, he felt the need to ask questions. For starters, Eleonora didn't look like a witch at all. She wore a black suit that failed to hide her large chest and hourglass figure, had long blonde hair in a ponytail, and possessed sharp features like a bold businesswoman.

She overwhelmed Noah right away.

"You don't look like a witch," he said. "If not for that thick book, you'd have nothing in common with them, right?"

"Ah, yes!" Eleonora nodded. "I need my hat!"

Her book flipped open on its own, pages fluttering. It soon spat out a hat, which Eleonora placed on her head. "Now, I look like a witch," she said.

The problem was, she wore a white baseball cap instead of the big pointed hat witches had in stories and movies. Seeing Noah's stare, she gasped. "You don't believe I'm a witch who stole the universe's knowledge?! Look, I know your name, Noah Night, age eighteen, you're a Night Elf, you have two abilities… two abilities…"

Her expression fell. "I don't know what abilities you have… but… how come?" she asked, slowing down and growing flustered. She was supposed to know everything in the universe, yet she couldn't see through Noah's skills.

That meant she was limited.

The realization made Eleonora sink to her knees, ball her right hand into a fist, and pound the ground. "All that work and time wasted to be limited like this?! I'm so useless! I don't even know how much knowledge I have left! Since I'm so useless, my handsome has no reason to put up with my weirdness! No love, no contract, no shared ambitions!"

Tears dripped down her pretty face, and she sobbed like a lost puppy. This happened so suddenly that Noah didn't know what to do.

He knelt and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You're weird, but I find that adorable. I'm even jealous of how honest and expressive you are," he said.

Those words triggered something in Eleonora that Noah didn't expect. Two golden, furry ears popped up on her head, blowing her hat off. Three fluffy tails emerged behind her, probably ripping her suit. They swayed excitedly like a puppy's tail.

She jumped at Noah, pressing herself against him, rubbing her face on his cheek and purring like a cat. Except she wasn't a cat woman but a fox woman with a unique lineage.

"Ah, handsome, you heart stealer! Mmm! It's not so easy to capture me! So many courted me, but I shot them down with just a stare! Mmm!"

Whether she was really hard to get was debatable, but Noah felt relieved she had regained her cheer. He admired how open and expressive she was, both in her speech and actions.

He had held himself back all his life and missed so much. How could he not envy Eleonora? Now that she liked him and he had changed, he grew bold enough to try new things with her.

"Ah!" Eleonora yelped when Noah returned her affection, rubbing his cheek on hers.

He still couldn't believe someone called him handsome, but he was enjoying her style of affection. He even felt daring enough to pinch and pull her cheek.

She giggled and licked his face. "I marked you, handsome!"

They both sank into their own world, drawing closer to each other.
