Chapter 11: Digital Duel – The Hacker’s Game

Rules of the Game

Kai and Zero sat across from each other in the VIP lounge, their cyberdecks linked to a private server. The moment the challenge began, the neon lights dimmed, leaving only the glow of holographic screens illuminating their faces.

Cipher leaned on the couch, watching with a smirk. "Oh, this is gonna be good."

Nova crossed his arms. "Let me get this straight. If Kai wins, she helps us break into Titan's network. If she wins...?"

Zero grinned. "I decide later."

Nova sighed. "I hate this already."

Kai cracked his knuckles. "Let's go."

A countdown appeared on their screens.

3… 2… 1… Begin.

---

Hacking Like Hell

The server burst to life.

Data streams crashed into each other like cybernetic waves in a storm. Zero was fast—no, ridiculously fast. She launched an onslaught of firewalls, decoy signals, and logic bombs that would've taken an average hacker hours to counter.

Kai wasn't average.

He was a ghost in the system.

He darted between digital traps, bouncing his signal between phantom nodes, slipping past decoys before Zero could block him.

Zero's smirk widened. "Not bad. But…"

CODE BREACH DETECTED.

Kai's firewall collapsed—she'd already anticipated his next move and flipped his own trick against him.

Cipher winced. "Ooooh. That's rough."

Kai gritted his teeth. Zero was playing dirty—but that just made it interesting.

He switched tactics. Instead of brute force, he started dismantling her defenses from the inside out. Tiny exploits, unnoticed weak points—he hit them all at once.

Zero's eyes flickered. "Oh? Clever boy."

Nova whispered, "She's enjoying this way too much."

Cipher grinned. "It's basically flirting for hackers."

Zero suddenly shifted gears.

Her counterattack came fast. A full-system takeover, hijacking his interface controls.

For half a second, Kai's screen blacked out.

Then—

// SYSTEM RESTORED //

Zero's eyes widened. He'd played dead.

BAM.

Zero's security shattered.

Cipher laughed. "Ohhhh, he got her!"

Zero threw her head back and laughed. "Okay. That was fun."

Winner Takes All

Kai leaned back, grinning. "Looks like you owe me."

Zero smirked. "Guess I do."

Nova looked between them. "That's it? No dramatic betrayal? No sudden backstab?"

Cipher shook her head. "Dude, this is foreplay for hackers."

Zero stretched. "Fine. A deal's a deal. I'll help you crack Titan's encrypted servers."

Kai's smile faded. "Good. Because what I need to find isn't just Titan's secrets."

Zero raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Then what?"

Kai hesitated.

The truth. His family, the experiments, the encrypted data in his brain.

Zero leaned closer. "You're hiding something big, aren't you?"

Kai met her gaze. "Let's just say... I'm not the only one with secrets."

Zero smirked. "Now I'm really interested."

Nova sighed. "This is going to be a problem."

Cipher grinned. "A fun problem!"

Zero stood. "Alright, sweetheart. You won. But don't think that means I'm gonna make this easy for you."

Kai chuckled. "I wouldn't expect anything less."

Zero winked. "Good. Because I like my challenges... personal."
