Chapter 13: Blade and Bullet – Kai vs. Seraph

The Standoff

Seraph's red cybernetic eyes locked onto Kai with a gaze sharp enough to cut steel. The hum of her energy gauntlets filled the server room as she took another step forward, her body radiating lethal intent.

Kai raised his hands casually. "Now, before you break me in half, can I just say—"

Seraph punched.

Kai dodged, barely.

Her fist hit the server behind him, metal crumpling like paper. Sparks exploded in the air.

Zero whistled. "Wow. That's some top-tier rage. Did you ghost her or something?"

Kai rolled under another punch. "Not helping!"

Seraph didn't hesitate. She dashed forward, faster than a human eye could track, a blur of black and red.

Kai barely blocked as her armored knee slammed into his forearm. The impact sent him skidding backward.

Seraph's voice was cold, controlled. "You broke into a Titan facility. That's treason."

Kai exhaled. "Treason? Come on, it's not like I'm here to steal—"

Zero chimed in, still crouched near the terminal. "Actually, we're literally here to steal classified Titan data."

Kai groaned. "You're really not helping."

Seraph's eyes narrowed. "Then I don't need to hold back."

She vanished.

A moment later, Kai's instincts screamed.

He twisted just as a plasma blade ignited inches from his face.

"Oh, hell no—"

---

Fists and Firepower

Kai improvised.

As Seraph's blade sliced through the air, he grabbed the nearest thing—a loose server panel—and flung it at her.

She slashed through it instantly.

"You think that'll stop me?"

"Nope. Just needed a second."

Seraph's eyes widened. Kai had already closed the distance.

He palm-struck her wrist, redirecting her blade. Then he pivoted, bringing his elbow toward her head.

She dodged. But barely.

Seraph's expression flickered with something other than cold precision.

Surprise.

---

A Battle of Equals

Their fight became a blur of flashing blades, deflected strikes, and rapid counterattacks.

Seraph was stronger, armored, and cybernetically enhanced.

Kai was faster, unpredictable, and knew how to fight dirty.

The room trembled as they exchanged strike after strike.

Seraph's plasma blade carved through a pillar.

Kai dodged and kicked a broken piece of metal toward her face.

She blocked—but in that moment, Kai slipped past her guard.

He caught her wrist, twisted—

And pinned her against the wall.

For a breathless second, neither moved.

Seraph's red eyes flickered. "…You got faster."

Kai smirked. "You noticed?"

Zero, still hacking, muttered, "Wow, just kiss already."

Both of them snapped, "Shut up!"

The Turning Point

Suddenly—

ALERT. EXTERNAL SECURITY BREACH DETECTED.

Seraph stiffened. "What? That's not you?"

Kai frowned. "Uh… no?"

The intercom crackled.

"Titan Industries personnel, this is not a drill. A rogue unit has breached Sector 3. All enforcers, prepare for combat."

Seraph's eyes narrowed. "Something's wrong."

Kai nodded. "Yeah. And I'm guessing whoever's out there? They're not on our side."

Seraph stared at him for a long moment. Then, reluctantly, she deactivated her blade.

"We're not done."

Kai smirked. "I wouldn't dream of it."

Seraph sighed. "Damn it. You're such a pain."

Zero grinned. "Welcome to the club."
