Just as Hawk and the shadow were locked in a fierce struggle, a loud shout suddenly rang out: "Stop!"
Both of them stopped their movements and turned to look. A tall man appeared at the entrance of the passage. The man was wearing a black suit and a pair of sunglasses, so his expression couldn't be seen clearly.
The man walked forward, grabbed the shadow's arm, and twisted it forcefully. The shadow let out a scream, and the gun in his hand dropped to the ground. Hawk took the opportunity to subdue the shadow and tied him up with a rope.
"Who are you? Why are you helping us?" Hawk asked, looking at the man warily.
The man took off his sunglasses, revealing a resolute face. "I'm Jack. I was a police officer once," the man said. "I can't stand what those powerful people have done, so I decided to help you secretly."
Irene, who was in the trap, heard their conversation and was filled with doubts. "How did you know we were here?" she asked.
Jack replied, "I've been keeping an eye on your actions. When I saw you come to the site of the steel factory today, I followed you. I didn't expect you to really be in danger."
Hawk and Irene exchanged a glance, both surprised by Jack's appearance. But they also knew that this wasn't the time to question these things. The top priority was to rescue Irene from the trap and then uncover the true face of this mysterious shadow.
