Chapter 0050: The Beautiful Woman's Subtle Provocation

As Di Ping glanced at the time, it was almost seven in the evening. Through the glass window, he could see the faint smoke rising from the manor, with people in the fields beginning to return to the manor, some of them carrying tools in pairs. Outside the manor, two acres of land had been cleared and transformed into fields, with yellow and dark soil turned over, forming neat furrows.

For anyone who grew up in the countryside, no matter how long they had lived in the city, the attachment to the land seemed almost innate. The freshly plowed earth seemed to represent the hope of a bountiful harvest in the future.

Di Ping, being from a rural background, felt a special fondness for the land. Seeing the fields being cultivated brought back memories of his childhood, when he worked on the farm with his family. Although it was exhausting, there was a deep sense of satisfaction, especially when his father looked at the growing crops with a happy, contented smile, as if the fields were filled with not just rice but with gold. As he grew older, he understood that what grew in those fields was not merely crops but the hope of an entire family.

Looking at the fields now, a similar feeling of hope and fulfillment arose in him. For all these years, he had been consumed by the pursuit of money, only to realize that he was not truly happy. He always felt exhausted and overburdened, constantly chasing after wealth. But at this moment, with everything set aside, he realized that happiness was simple—it came from having hope and fulfillment.

Thinking about this, he felt an even greater longing for his parents, who were far away. He was more eager than ever to go back and save them. He wished he could leave immediately, but he knew it wasn't possible. His current abilities were far from enough to traverse a thousand miles and rescue his parents. In fact, attempting such a journey would likely result in failure—and even death. Therefore, he needed to accelerate the development of the system's functions and grow stronger quickly. He believed that he was getting closer to his goal.

"Mom, Dad, please wait for me. I'll be back soon…" Di Ping whispered to himself, clenching his fists tightly, making a silent vow to speed up his efforts. Time was running out—more than a week had passed since the apocalypse, and the living conditions were sure to be becoming increasingly difficult.

"Knock knock!"

The sound of knocking on the door interrupted Di Ping's thoughts.

"Come in!"

Without turning around, Di Ping replied in a low voice, still gazing at the setting sun.

"Di Ge, dinner is ready!"

The door creaked open, and a soft, sweet voice called out. Di Ping didn't need to look back to know who it was.

Indeed, it was none other than Liu Bingyu, a woman whose name seemed at odds with her appearance.

"It's you!" Di Ping finally turned around, smiling as he looked at the delicate and beautiful woman.

"Who did you think it was, Di Ge? Sister Yu?" Liu Bingyu replied, her tone laced with mild disappointment. However, as she spoke, she seemed to realize her words might have sounded a bit ambiguous, almost like she was jealous. Her fair face instantly turned red.

"Haha… The beautiful Liu Bingyu has come to invite me to dinner? I'm honored! Of course, I'm surprised!" Di Ping couldn't help but tease her, amused by the shy look on her face. After his moment of contemplation, he had opened up a bit more emotionally and felt lighter. Seeing Liu Bingyu blush made him want to playfully tease her.

"Di Ge, you're not just trying to make me happy, are you?" Liu Bingyu, although somewhat embarrassed, looked up at Di Ping with wide eyes, her gaze full of expectation. Her large eyes blinked rapidly, and Di Ping's heart skipped a beat.

"Cough cough… Of course not!" Di Ping, aware that he might be acting a little too lighthearted, quickly cleared his throat to cover up his embarrassment. He nodded enthusiastically.

"Then let's go eat!" Di Ping said, eager to avoid any further awkwardness. He didn't dare to look at Liu Bingyu again and quickly headed for the door, not giving her another glance.

Liu Bingyu, watching Di Ping rush out the door, couldn't help but smile mischievously. Her eyes were filled with a playful glint. She had intended to tease Di Ping, but didn't expect him to be so easy to fluster. He had the innocence of a young boy, and just a little teasing made him blush. Her gaze softened with intrigue. This man was so mysterious, and she felt a growing desire to uncover more about him.

Di Ping, walking ahead, had no idea what was going on. He only saw people through his own perspective and never considered that a woman like Liu Bingyu, who came from a prestigious family in Jingzhou, could be so simple. Raised in such a noble family, she had undoubtedly learned many ways of dealing with others, and was far from being as innocent as she appeared.

He had never thought that Liu Bingyu was simply teasing him for fun.

When Di Ping reached the small dining area on the second floor, the others were already there. The second floor had three dining rooms: one large and two smaller ones. The smaller of the two was the most luxurious, decorated like a high-end hotel with separate rooms. Di Ping and his group dined in the largest room, though it felt quite spacious as only a few people were present. The others were eating in the larger dining room, leaving this one almost empty.

Di Ping had asked Barton to bring Buji and Gina along. He introduced them to everyone, and when the group realized that both Buji, a large man, and Gina, a beautiful woman, had also awakened their potential, they were all surprised and curious about their backgrounds, as well as about the mysterious castle. Though many questions arose, they knew Di Ping would share what he wanted, so they refrained from asking.

The meal was simple, as Di Ping had requested. With food still limited and the fields just recently cleared, there was no quick harvest. Everything was about conserving resources. The atmosphere was quiet, with everyone seemingly lost in their thoughts. After dinner, Di Ping briefly spoke to everyone and instructed them to rest, as he would be leaving early the next morning. The others nodded in understanding and dispersed to their rooms.
