Chapter 67: The Sudden Appearance of Divine Light and the Search for Help

Yue Lie and Liu Han began to suspect that they had somehow crossed into another world and were no longer on Earth.

Their disbelief was understandable; what they had witnessed today defied more than two decades of their comprehension. What was the glowing light on that sword—was it magic or martial arts? Additionally, there was the speed resembling teleportation and the powerful, superhuman strength. All of this seemed like something straight out of a fantasy novel, leading them to question whether they were truly on Earth.

Jina glanced back at the two men with a look of disdain, as if they were country bumpkins entering the city.

However, when her gaze shifted back to Di Ping, her eyes sparkled with admiration. She thought to herself that her master was incredibly handsome, far more impressive than any senior at her academy. He didn't even seem like a first-tier warrior—he was simply too strong and ferocious!

Watching his imposing figure standing in the middle of the street, she felt her gaze slowly become misty, her expression soft and tender as though she were about to melt.

Di Ping slowly turned around and looked at the corpses of the mutated dogs lying on the ground. A strange, indescribable feeling surged within him. At first, he had been chased by a few mutated dogs, constantly running for his life, but now, in less than a minute, six mutated dogs had fallen at his hands. This was a monumental improvement, and to think it had taken only a few days—he felt as if he were dreaming.

He was satisfied with his performance today. The summaries after each battle and his relentless training had enabled him to master his strength. Although he hadn't achieved perfection, the progress he had made thus far brought him a sense of fulfillment.

He firmly believed that he would continue to grow stronger and survive in this apocalyptic world.

Suppressing his excitement, Di Ping's face returned to its calm expression as he walked toward the mutated wolf dog's corpse. With a swing of his sword, he cracked open its head and searched for the core. In just a few motions, he retrieved a small, jade-like orb no larger than a fingernail, then proceeded to do the same with the other dogs.

Jina noticed his actions and quickly descended the stairs. She pulled out a small knife from somewhere on her body and began helping him.

"Lao Lie, what do you think they're looking for?" Liu Han, now recovered from the shock, asked Yue Lie. They had been standing some distance away, only catching glimpses of the white object Di Ping and Jina were handling. Curiosity overtook Liu Han, and he could no longer suppress his desire to know what was going on.

"I don't know," Yue Lie replied with a gruff tone, still in shock. He had calmed down a little but was still dazed by everything happening. "How should I know what they're looking for?"

"Let's go take a look?" Liu Han insisted, unable to quell his curiosity. He grabbed Yue Lie's arm and tried to pull him forward, as though the situation had suddenly reinvigorated him.

"I… I don't think I can," Yue Lie muttered, his legs feeling weak. The aura around the man and woman was too overwhelming, too mysterious. The unknown was always the most terrifying, and his instinct was to recoil.

"You're useless! What's there to be afraid of? Come on, let's go!" Liu Han was persistent, dragging Yue Lie along.

When they reached the scene, Di Ping and Jina had already extracted the cores from all six mutated dogs. Jina handed the cores to Di Ping, who cleaned them with some water from his bag before carefully storing them.

Liu Han and Yue Lie could only see a few white objects, and Liu Han shot Yue Lie an irritated glance, seemingly blaming him for walking too slowly and missing the chance to see anything.

Initially, Liu Han had wanted to ask, but upon seeing the pile of mutated dog corpses on the ground, he decided to stay silent. Despite his usually thick skin, he wasn't a fool. His curiosity was still bubbling, but he had to push it down.

Yue Lie's eyes were fixed on the mutated dog corpses scattered around. His mind raced, thinking about how these creatures, which had once instilled fear in him, were now lying lifeless on the ground. His thoughts were in turmoil.

Who were these two? How were they so powerful? They made killing mutated dogs seem as easy as chopping vegetables. Their presence was shrouded in mystery, as though they belonged to a world beyond understanding. Were they from Earth? Were they aliens? Or were they hidden martial arts masters?

Yue Lie's mind was in chaos. His usual sharp intellect, which had made him the strategist among his group of friends, seemed insufficient to comprehend the situation at hand. His thoughts were scattered, and his mind couldn't focus, a stark contrast to his usual self.

His gaze shifted to the man standing in the middle of the street, holding a long sword with a posture as upright as a pine tree. Despite the brutal combat, his clothes were clean, and he had not a single drop of blood on him. Yue Lie's heart skipped a beat, and his eyes grew fiery with admiration. It was as though he had just seen the sun break through after a storm or a ship had found land after days at sea.

Di Ping noticed Yue Lie's intense gaze as he finished storing the cores. At first, he felt a small sense of relief that these two hadn't disappointed him. But when his eyes met Yue Lie's intense, almost feverish look, he felt a shiver run down his spine. It was as if something uncomfortable had brushed against him.

Is this guy into something unusual? Why is he looking at me like that? Di Ping thought to himself. He had no problem with different preferences, but the way Yue Lie was looking at him was definitely making him uneasy.

Suddenly, Yue Lie's expression changed, as if he had made a decision. He quickly ran a few steps toward Di Ping, his demeanor now determined.
