Rina sat at her desk, fingers tapping lightly on the metal surface as Briggs slid the data slate over to her. His face was serious no jokes this time. That meant trouble.
"Got your Viper." He paused. "She's not just some street dealer. She's a ghost from the old circuits."
Rina raised a brow and picked up the slate, eyes scanning the file.
The name hit her first.
Victoria Quinn.
Aliases: Viper, ZeroWraith, Cipher Queen.
Her image flickered on the screen a woman with sharp features, cybernetic lines faintly glowing along her temples, black hair shaved on one side, and eyes that had that hacker glassiness like she saw the world in code.
"Tech-head," Rina muttered, reading further.
"Technologist, infiltration specialist, ex-corporate security, ex-black ops cybernetic systems engineer, data thief."
Briggs nodded.
"Built custom augmentations before the bans. Rumor is she even designed combat-implants that could override pain receptors. Full body enhancements. She was ahead of her time… until she got burned."
Rina's eyes narrowed.
"What happened?"
Briggs leaned in.
"Classic fall-from-grace story. Last gig went sideways. Botched heist on a corporate military vault. Partner turned on her. She got pinned, left bleeding out on the grid."
He swiped the slate, pulling up another image a prison facility surrounded by water, concrete walls like a fortress.
High-Max Detention Island.
"She's locked up there now. Life sentence. Middle of nowhere."
Rina exhaled.
"So… who's running her serum trade if she's caged?"
Briggs's face darkened.
"Sybil."
Rina's head tilted slightly.
"And Sybil is…?"
Briggs tapped the screen another file, but this one was thin.
"Sybil's her right hand. Trusted companion. Operative. Enforcer. Nobody knows her real name. Just that she's dangerous as hell. She didn't get caught when Viper fell. She went underground and stayed lethal."
Rina stared at the screen, memorizing every line, every detail.
Viper might've been caged… but her fangs were still out there.
