Not Jealous… Totally Not

Rina scrolled through her feed during lunch because, apparently, every single person in the city had turned into a Zane fan overnight.

"The Hooded Hero!"

"Who needs the military when we have HIM?!"

"Captain Hunter was lucky he showed up."

Rina leaned back in her chair, chewing on a protein bar with the enthusiasm of a brick.

She waved her phone at Briggs, who was equally glued to the news.

"Look at this. Our entire unit busting our asses every day and this guy punches one junkie, and he's practically getting his own statue."

Briggs smirked.

"You sound jealous."

Rina shot him a look.

"Jealous? Please. I'm thrilled. Maybe he can handle paperwork too. Super-speed those reports right into HQ."

They laughed, but under the sarcasm, Rina felt that itch.

Not jealousy just suspicion… and maybe a tiny bit of annoyance.

Because heroes like Zane?

They didn't just "show up."

Not in this city.

Not in her world.
