Rina gritted her teeth as she swerved through the wreckage, her comm crackling with Briggs' voice.
"Captain Viper building top floor there's a damn helicopter"static "—I can cut her off—"
Rina slammed the brakes.
"Briggs, I swear to God—" she growled. "I told you to stay with your family!"
No response.
Her knuckles whitened around the steering wheel. Stupid. Stupid, stupid. She didn't have time to argue he was already in deep.
Without hesitation, she leaped out of the vehicle and sprinted toward the building. The sky was dark, wind howling as the distant helicopter blades thundered overhead.
If Viper escaped now this whole damn city was screwed.
And so was Briggs.
