William walked down the path the catalyst directed him to.
[Task: Assassinate the Wendigo and harvest it's soul core]
[Intel: Wendigos are born from souls consumed by hunger and despair, their existence a curse born of relentless starvation. While they cannot reproduce naturally, this particular one is a tragic anomaly—a child who succumbed to the curse. Once human, their fragile soul was shattered by desperation and an insatiable need to feed, twisting them into something monstrous. Unlike older wendigos, whose minds are wholly lost to hunger, remnants of the child's former self may still linger within, buried beneath layers of instinct and torment. This fusion of innocence and corruption makes the creature unpredictable—perhaps more cunning, perhaps more volatile, but undoubtedly dangerous. Proceed with caution.]
He saw the entrance to the cave. He looked around the crystals which were shown with all the beautiful colors of the rainbow.
[You have no essence of your own or not really anyways so i shall loan you some of my own take a few minutes to learn how to use it.]
[You need to mentally grab at the soft blue energy inside your body]
William searched and found the energy. This was insane! When he closed his eyes to harness he could see the energy it filled his body to the brim! It was so rich that he couldn't see where it ended nor where it began. It was just there, the beginning or end just there. He envisioned his hand reaching out and dipping inside the blue substance.
He awoke in the real world and took a stance and slashed the air. The energy went into the blade and out when he completed the slash. The energy took form and slashed the world.
The cut lingered in the air for a brief moment before fading, the world returning to normal as if nothing had happened. But William had felt it—the shift, the sheer force of the energy leaving him and obeying his intent. It was exhilarating. It was terrifying.
[Good. You learn quickly.]
The Catalyst's voice curled through his thoughts, neither a tone of appraisal nor approval, just an observation. William exhaled, steadying himself. His grip on the weapon tightened as he turned his attention back to the cave. The crystals bathed the entrance in shifting light, their colors refracting off the damp stone. It almost felt peaceful. Almost.
