A Dream of the Past

That night, I had a dream. But it did not feel like a normal dream. It felt real, like a memory.

I was wearing old-style clothes, long and beautiful. Rei was there too, wearing the same kind of clothes. We were in a different time, a time from long ago.

Rei stood in front of me, holding a golden phoenix hairclip. It was shining in the soft light. Slowly, he reached out and placed it in my hair.

"It looks perfect on you," he said with a warm smile.

I touched the hairclip, feeling its smooth surface. My heart was full of happiness. We were together, laughing, feeling at peace.

But then, the dream ended.

I woke up suddenly, my heart still beating fast.

Without thinking, I got out of bed and went to find Rei. I found him in his study, sitting at his desk.

"Rei! I had a strange dream!" I said as I walked in.

He looked at me and smiled. "Oh? Tell me about it."

I told him everything—the old times, the clothes, the phoenix hairclip, and how happy we were.

Rei listened quietly, his golden eyes watching me. He smiled, but inside, he already knew what was happening.

She is starting to remember…

Lunara was remembering her past life.

But he did not tell me. Instead, he just nodded and acted like it was just an interesting dream.

I suddenly asked him, "Rei, do you have a wife? A queen? Or maybe a concubine?"

Rei laughed softly. "A long time ago, I had one. But she left me first. Since then, I have never wanted a wife or a concubine again. I still can't forget her."

For some reason, my heart hurt when I heard those words. I didn't understand why, but I didn't want him to see my feelings. So I forced a smile and said, "Oh… she must have been very beautiful."

Rei nodded, his voice soft. "Yes, she was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen… That was 600 years ago."

His face looked sad as he spoke.

I didn't know why, but my heart ached even more when he said that. It felt like something was breaking inside me.

But then, Rei smiled again and said, "Don't think too much about it. It's all in the past."

"Oh… yeah," I replied, forcing another smile.

After a moment, I asked him, "Rei, do you believe I have a curse?"

Rei shook his head. "You don't have a curse. That's just a rumor. What happened to your friend and your aunt was just a coincidence."

He was trying to make me feel better.

I smiled at him. "Thank you, Rei."

He smiled back, and for a moment, we just looked at each other.

Even though we didn't say anything more, I felt a strange warmth in my heart.
