While this fruit lacks top-tier raw power, its versatility, regeneration, and mobility make it extremely troublesome to deal with.

When Awakened:

All previous abilities are enhanced to near-limitless potential, alongside drastic stat increases.

"For this Devil Fruit, how capable is the shapeshifting? Can it give me the powers and abilities of those I transform into? And would my clones also gain the powers and abilities of whoever they turn into?" Lucy asked, frowning at the vague description.

Valkora opened her mouth to answer but hesitated, closing it just as quickly.

"I can't access detailed information beyond what you see," she admitted helplessly. Lucy sighed, then shrugged. Fine. He picked the Saru Saru no Mi, Model: Sun Wukong. The fruit's awakened state sounded ridiculously overpowered, and he wasn't about to pass that up—even if he had no idea what awakened actually meant.

"After this, I won't be able to contact you until it's time for you to leave this world," Valkora warned, her tone unusually serious. "Keep your eyes open. I don't know when the fruit will appear near you. If you're lucky, it could be in a few days. If not… you might not see it for fifty years."

With that, she vanished, leaving Lucy standing there, stunned for a moment, but deep down he was jumping for joy. That was a big act he pulled off, but it paid off in the end.

Time snapped back to normal, and Lucy found himself standing in the exact same spot. It was as if everything that had happened was nothing more than an illusion.

Shaking off the surreal feeling, he turned his attention to the window and waited. Moments later, Uta appeared below. Without hesitation, Lucy opened the window, drawing a confused look from the librarian.

But that confusion quickly turned to horror as Lucy jumped out of the second-floor window.

"Hey! Kid!" the librarian shouted, rushing to the window. He leaned out, eyes scanning the ground—only to find nothing. Lucy had vanished without a trace.

Meanwhile, down in the street, Uta was already on his back. "Give me the book! How do you expect to climb the wall while holding that?!" she cried, reaching out to take the book. They were moving so fast that to the people around them, they were nothing but a blur.

"I want to do it with one hand holding the book," Lucy said with a grin. "But let's head to the other side of the wall. I don't want the city guards showing up in the village looking for us. We should take the long way."

Uta paused for a moment, considering his words, then nodded in agreement. Without wasting time, he sprinted toward the opposite side of the wall from where they'd first entered. Once there, Lucy wasted no time. With far more ease than before, he stabbed four fingers into the wall and, with a single pull, launched himself upward.

It only took a few repetitions. Each grip and pull shot him higher, and within moments, he reached the top of the wall. From there, he entered a free fall, plummeting toward a trash-filled alley below.

Lucy had already planned for it. Mid-fall, he jabbed his fingers into the wall, slowing his descent until he landed softly on the ground. Without skipping a beat, he sprinted around the perimeter of the wall.

After a while of nonstop running, Lucy and Uta finally made their way back to Foosha Village, the precious book still clutched tightly in Lucy's hand.

"Where have you two been?" The moment Lucy and Uta stepped foot back in Foosha Village, one of Shanks's crew members spotted them, his eyes immediately locking onto the book in Lucy's hands.

"I went to get a book. Well, now I gotta learn how to read," Lucy said casually. Uta's face darkened instantly. All that trouble… for a book he can't even read?!

The crew member frowned. "You didn't cause trouble, right?"

Lucy shook his head. "Nope. Everything went smoothly." Without missing a beat, he launched into a quick rundown of how things went down. of course, glossing over the parts about Valkora, and the devil fruits.

"Like a true pirate," the crew member muttered, shaking his head with a laugh. Without another word, he turned and led them back to the bar.

The moment they stepped inside, Lucy froze. His eyes locked onto Shanks… missing an arm.

"Dad!" Uta screamed, horror etched across her face as she bolted to Shanks's side. Her gaze darted to his shirt, now stained with blood.

"It's alright," Shanks said with an easy laugh, waving his remaining hand dismissively. "It's just an arm."

"Just an arm?!" Uta cried, tears welling up. "How did you lose it?!"

Her father wasn't weak. She knew that. Shanks was strong, Captain Shanks, the man she believed was the strongest in the world. So who, or what, could take his arm?

"A Sea King took it," Shanks said with a gentle smile, his gaze soft as it drifted toward Luffy. "I chose to lose it to save someone dear to me."

Luffy stood frozen, guilt written all over his face. His usual energy was gone, replaced by the crushing weight of responsibility he was far too young to bear.

Lucy sighed, already piecing together the story. Of course, Luffy caused this.

"My apologies," Lucy said, giving a slight bow toward Shanks. It wasn't just the Devil Fruit Luffy had taken from him today, it was his arm too.

And it wasn't just a limb. For a pirate like Shanks, someone who wielded a sword with expert skill, losing an arm wasn't just an injury. It was a crippling blow to his strength, his fighting style, his way of life.

Lucy glanced at Shanks's easy smile and couldn't help but admire him. To lose so much and still laugh like it's nothing…

"Haha!" Shanks's crew burst into laughter at Lucy's overly formal apology, some doubling over while others slapped their knees in amusement.

Shanks chuckled along with them as he stood up, walking over to Lucy. Without warning, he ruffled Lucy's hair, much to the boy's annoyance.

"Luffy said he wanted to become Pirate King… it'd be a waste for the future Pirate King to get eaten by a fish," Shanks said, his tone light but sincere. "I'm investing in the two of your futures. My arm? It's nothing compared to how far you two will go."

Lucy blinked, momentarily speechless. His respect for Shanks had already been high, but now? It had skyrocketed. What kind of person shrugs off losing an arm like it's spare change? It was clear as day, that Shanks wasn't just strong in power, he was strong in spirit.
