A Monster - Part 3

Days quickly passed or at least I think they did, the other being across from me scratched the walls leaving a mark. I assumed it was their own way of keeping track of time, so after the first day I followed their lead, and they started to quickly add up. Some days they would take other prisoners for what I assume was testing, the reason they knocked me out with a different variant of gas each time.

They strapped me to a rectangular table and sliced up my skin, or at least tried to in some cases but each time they got a little further I adapted. I became more durable each time, even killing a few of them whenever I was let out. Other times they tested my physical abilities, putting me in various large-scale areas and sending out metallic soldiers, some equipped with long-range weaponry other times they went for close combat. It didn't matter though they would be destroyed anyway, and with time I was stuck in my prison.

no longer their primary interest, no longer evolving through each trial forced upon me. They left me alone with my thoughts with my only source of conversation being the being across from me and a blond-haired humanoid wearing a blue suit delivering food. It was simple, but it was nothing like the raw food I used to eat that had a far better taste to it.

It wasn't like they didn't have something good every once in a while, they had this one dish that included raw fish I believe which gave it a nice zinger to it. Over time I did learn the...English language I believe they call it and was able to communicate with this one being named Pete or at least I would've if I had anything to say to an abominable human.

So I tried to talk with my fellow cellmate who I suspected couldn't understand me or at least they couldn't hear me. It wasn't like my voice didn't echo throughout the hallway scarring the occasional guard who tried to find the source of the noise but well I stopped before they could see me.

It was odd seeing a human think I was some dumb animal it could easily imprison instead of the intelligent one I was. They tried to mess with me, to treat me as though I was some form of amusement for them. It never worked though, I just stared at them with my one gigantic eye as the only form of entertainment I had was shifting my dorsal plates around to see what looked/worked better.

That, along with making a scratch on the walls each day, alongside making various sounds and trying to make something out of it.

Another way I passed the time was trying to freak out any new things that came through here. I liked seeing their reactions, some were like those scientists, curious about my existence, and others freaked out and jumped back seeing me.

A few times though...I ripped at the metallic parts of the cage and banged on the energy shield. I just wanted to eat the humans and other beings in front of me so badly, a primal hunger surging through me every time it happened. Then there was another voice stopping me from tearing down this place.

I suppose it was my more intelligent side, my human side as I have started calling it. I already knew I had a bit of human in me, based on what a few scientists I heard talking after one of the tests.

However, I don't think they fully stopped with the test because I do fall asleep every now and again. Whenever I woke up, I found that my skin had become far tougher than before, I had become stronger than before.

Although I did test a few other beings out, the humans probably wanted to either find something to take me down permanently or find out the upper limits on nonhuman creatures. I think I even took down a...what did they call it a Kaiju one time, easier than you'd think once you make a hole in their boy you can rip them apart from the inside out.

I gained much biomass those days, and they were especially delicious reminding me of one of the good things of when I was part of one hive mind. The taste was amplified a hundred-fold at least as we all experienced the flavor together, sharing it together. Other than that though, I enjoyed the carnage, I reveled in the death of these organisms.

Then after so much time passed, it got to be a regular routine and sure I'd see a few people leave this place either escorted by guards or somehow escaping. They'd always come back though, sometimes worse for wear other times exactly the same, a little angry perhaps but still in one piece.

Sometimes they'd up the security...temporarily at least but it always died down eventually.

Then I heard it, I saw the hallway turn red and the guards rushing in, alongside yelling. It was different than usual, they were on more high alert...more distracted as they moved down the hallway and I smiled seeing this. It wasn't just my smile or emotions that were overjoyed but rather both my primal instincts and my more intelligent side were now sharing the same thought.

"Escape now."

I then ripped into the metallic part they so kindly left for me and began ripping it apart rather easily at that. The energy field began to destabilize as I opened it up and let out a blood-curdling roar as the guards were retreating from a closed door. Seeing me ripped through their security freaked them out and they pointed their weapons at me, ordering me to surrender.

I just smiled however and spoke face to face with my first sentient being in quite a long time.

"Surrender? Why would I surrender to food!" I then charged forward as they fired their weapons at me, and it didn't even tickle.

I tore into them, ripping them apart as they tried to escape my little rampage, some abandoning their weaponry to do so. That was their first mistake as I grabbed them by their heads and ripped them off drinking their blood to hydrate me.

Truly a nice bit of fun.
