Chapter 9

At midnight, Vera sent a text message: "Baby, may your happiness not be limited to your birthday!"

I sat motionless in the living room all night, my body trembling.

The next day, she asked me to bring her some clean clothes at the base.

Brady reached out to take them, revealing extensive marks from last night's passionate encounter.

I ignored it and turned to leave.

Vera stopped me, handing me something.

"The pregnancy is unstable, and there's no need to keep a weak fetus. I've already had an abortion at the hospital. This is the baby, you can take it back."

I knew it was because she played too rough last night that the baby was lost.

Heartbroken, I took the fetal remains, intending to bury them.

However, Brady's dog snatched the remains and swallowed them in one gulp.

I broke down crying hysterically, but Vera was unfazed.

"Brady's dog isn't in good health. The baby's already dead, might as well use it to boost Cola's nutrition."
