Chapter 10

One year since their last encounter, Vera's appearance hadn't changed significantly.

However, her demeanor no longer exuded the same confidence and ease as before.

With reddened eyes, she spoke softly:

"I knew it... you were still alive... How have you been... all this time?"

I turned my head away, indicating I didn't want to engage with her.

But she kept moving closer, causing me to frown and step back.

Nora stepped forward to block her: "How dare you show your face to us, you bitch!"

"Get lost!"

Nora shouted at Vera without any courtesy.

Vera, reading the situation, retreated.

"Zephyr, I avenged you. I killed Brady with the same gun he used to shoot you."

Her voice was choked with emotion.

"It was my fault. I shouldn't have used you as a living target. I was so afraid Brady would leave me again."

"Before, I had caused him to suffer abroad. If he had gone to Northern Myanmar because of me again, I might never have forgiven myself."
