"She must be very tired, it's very usual of her to sleep at work "
I heard faint voices as I gradually regained consciousness.
Everywhere looked unfamiliar, 'Where am I and what am I doing here?'
"You are awake, you got us all worried?" A slightly older woman smiled at me.
"Are you ok? I have never seen you sleep at work; you can take the day off if you feel unwell." Another unfamiliar face added.
I looked around searching for clues, where exactly is this.
The last I remembered was that I had blacked out after hearing the conversation between my husband and his mother.
'Am I dead? Why do I feel so healthy? Is this heaven? How am I at work,? This is not my office, what the heck is going on?"
Then there he was, the man that I had married who had shown me hell on earth.
He approached me with all smiles, looking young and fresh, the look kind of look he gave me before I agreed to be his wife.
—The kind that made a girl's toe curl and made her feel wanted.
"You are awake? I checked on you earlier, and you were deeply asleep; I got you a cup of your favorite coffee."
Then it dawned on me: this man standing before me had agreed to use my treatment money on his deadbeat company.
"No... No, don't come close to me." I screamed attracting the attention of the whole office.
"Babe, are you ok?" He asked, still trying to get closer; by now, everyone had left their business and focused on us.
"Is she ok? Why is she shouting at him that way? Poor boy,, he's too much in love with her and can't see that he's being disrespected."
I heard people murmuring around. 'Well, I don't care. I would do anything as long as this monster does not come close to me.'
"Get away from me," I screamed as he attempted to touch me again.
—I started running as fast as my little legs could carry me; what was going on? I couldn't comprehend anything.
'Where did I get the energy to run at all, talkless of this fast. I have been weak and almost bedridden for months and now it suddenly feels like I have the energy of a hundred people in me, like I was still in my prime.'
'Or am...am I dead? Did this scum still follow me to torment me even in death?'
"Watch out!" Someone screamed before I knew it. I had collided with a handsome-looking man, and we both fell down.
"I— I am sorry" I felt his soft hand gently pull me from the ground.
"Are you ok?" He asked gently
I didn't wait to answer his question before running almost out of breath, and I stood up immediately to continue.
—Where exactly am I headed to, even the streets looked unfamiliar, the cars looked different.
'Why is Liu Zhao Wei's advert being played on the big screen across the road?'
He was my high school crush, everyone's sweetheart. I remember having loved and was obsessed with any brand he advertised because of his face.
Seeing him being displayed in all his glory was, however, strange.
He had been reported to have been a bully while he was in high school and had been canceled by all brands, his agency even had to drop him when they could no longer control the trolling they received.
The last anyone heard of him was when he left the country for some charity work to revive his image. Nothing has been heard or said of him since then.
I was still trying to understand why his ad was being displayed when I saw a magnificent political poster of the NOP on display.
NOP had been merged in 1996, which had caused great turmoil in the political world and was part of the greatest reformation in history.
Nothing seems to be aligning.
"Excuse me," I said approaching a young lady who had just come out of the office.
"What is today's date?"
"16th September," she replied.
"No, I mean the year, I said, looking anxious."
"1990."
"Ooh thank you"
I sat down on the stairs, confused 'about where exactly am I and what am I doing here. Why is everyone behaving so normal, am insane?'
'Did I reincarnate? Such insane things only happened in the movies, but how else would I explain all these unfamiliar scenarios unfolding before me.'
"Are you ok? You look lost."
I looked up and saw the handsome man that I had hit earlier in the office.
"Em— Errrh I really do not know where and why I am here. Nothing looks familiar. The date, the town, the billboards, the building, and even myself feel strange. It feels like I'm crazy. I'm sorry for disturbing you with my problems, I will be fine."
"It's ok, just calm down it probably just shock you would find your way out of it. Just give It time."
'He doesn't even understand what is going on with me, I barely know him, so I can't trust him.'
"Thank you. Yes, I guess I was just a bit stressed; please, would you be willing to share a few information on where I am? I kind of feel very lost."
"Sure," He replied, smiling sweetly.
As he continued talking, I let myself drown in the sweetness of his sonorous voice, barely grasping anything.
Even in my confusion, I am still a hopeless romantic. I cannot resist a sweet man.
"Sorry did you just say I work here at Plexi?"
I said suddenly jostling up to reality.
"Yes you do"
Plexi was the first organization I had worked for after I left college.
It was there that I met the monster who later became my husband.
Then it struck me, nature has given me a second chance at life.
I had traveled back in time!
Armed with knowledge of the past, the present, and the future, I'm determined to make every second count and retrace my steps.
Never again will I live such a miserable and pathetic life as I did before.
