Two days passed in the blink of an eye as the Vanguard class crew ship approached a mid-sized planet.
Staring in awe at the display screen, Kael moved quickly into his room where he requested for information on the planet they were approaching. As he waited for the information to be uploaded to his workstation logs, he opened a display on his command desk and took another look at the planet.
"This project is already in trouble." He mumbled to himself.
After a few seconds, the information was uploaded to his workstation database. He opened his logs where he could clearly see the information on the planet.
"Why wasn't I informed of this, I would have been better prepared. Why is this even my starting planet mom." Kael complained.
The Murion family through their hard work had built up a powerhouse, The shrouded hearts which was the name of the faction they built up from scratch. As was the tradition of the Murion family. All pure blooded Murion descendants inherited a Vanguard class crew ship, a planet and a few subordinates as their humble beginnings when they turned 16.
The descendants were sent into the planets with the sole purpose of building up their power until they could gain a footing in the Galaxy. They were allowed to contact the main family faction, The shrouded hearts for any kind of support but they would not receive any permanent members or military forces other than the one they started with.
In the first place, Kael didn't have that many subordinates due to him wasting most of his preparation time trying to unravel the secrets of his infinitely tricky Axionis trait despite this he wasn't above the rules of the tradition. He had accepted that fact with grace and elegance. What he couldn't accept and comprehend was the planet he inherited.
The planet was usually kept a secret until the descendants got there and scanned it themselves which was what happened to Kael but there was no need to scan the planet.
From the display screen in Kael's room, he could see a medium sized golden orange planet. One could feel the hit within their soul just by looking at the planet but his mother wants this to be his starting base of operations. The information didn't do justice to the planet either.
Planet Overview
Classification: Terrestrial (Desert-Wasteland)
Size: Medium-sized
Climate: Arid and extreme
Atmosphere: Thin but breathable; oxygen levels are slightly lower than normal, requiring minor acclimatization.
He quickly had his AI assistant search for as much information on all planets with this constitution within his home system but no results came which meant his mother was hoarding the information.
"Mother, yes, I should contact her. VIREN, contact Aetheris Prime's main HQ. Request Miss Murion." Kael said to his personal AI assistant.
"Affirmative captain." It replied.
After a few minutes, someone finally answered. They were a good three hours away from the planet.
"Kael, how nice of you to contact your dear mother. It's been a while, how are you?" Miss Murion started.
"Mother, with all the information at your disposal including why I have so little subordinates. Why would you give such a planet to me?" Kael asked.
"What are you talking about Kael?" She asked in confusion.
"VIREN, send over the scan report to Miss Murion." Kael ordered to which the AI did effectively.
"That's weird. First off that wasn't the planet I prepared for you. Secondly, that planet has a small operational outpost belonging to your sister. She's been researching that planet for a while now so I can't hand it to you if I wanted to. There has to be a mistake somewhere. I'll send over the coordinates of the outpost since you're already there along with the coordinates of your originally designated planet. Sit tight my son, let me get to the bottom of this." His mother said before abruptly ending the call.
"That was weird." Kael said staring into space.
In the first place only the main Murion family members should know about the tradition, when and how it's conducted, therefore if anything, his mother is supposed to know about this arrangement. That was the main reason why he didn't contact her after he realized his assigned planet was that close to home.
Kael had been living on one of his sister's most developed planets. His sister took over that planet specifically to build a home for him on it and he's been living alone in his mansion since he was 5 years old.
Kael now realized how stupid he was for not informing his mother before taking off. All his family members, which were his two sisters and his mother owned a solar system each. He should have guessed that he'd be sent to a remote system so that when he grew, he could become a powerhouse just like them.
Although united under the banner of the shrouded hearts, the family rarely interfered with each other's systems unless it was to help in one way or the other. They all respected whatever decision they took regarding their planets.
Him not receiving a remote system should have been his first clue of contact. At any rate he needed to return back to reality as his ship had already entered the planets atmosphere and was making it's way towards the settlement.
He looked at the display at the center of his room as his ship flew high in the desert sky towards an unseen outpost. Even though he was looking at the display, he wasn't paying attention because he was deep in thought. He still couldn't understand how or why someone got information about the family tradition to redirect him.
The Murions have always been very good at hiding it. That's how they elevated the power and reputation of the Shrouded hearts faction, every system that fell was always under the banner of the Shrouded hearts which meant most people wouldn't even have the dots in order to connect them.
It was a wide known fact that every system that fell was placed under the supervision of a Murion but it was always stated to have fallen by the power of the faction, not the individual family members.
Kael kept thinking about the situation until he say something on the display. A gigantic tower could be seen far off in the distance.
