40 minutes had passed since the hunting trip begun. It took only 40 minutes for Kael to get bored of the trip. He had been able to accurately predict the power level of the Dune Wyrms and he was not impressed. These creatures were at most intermediate grade spires yet the captain spoke of them like they were world ending catastrophes.
The Murion family had a grading system for the creatures that reside on other planets throughout the Galaxy. They were called spires universally, that was one of the few things humanity could agree on as a whole.
Normal none threatening creatures or creatures who's danger levels were abismal were known as Basic tier creatures.
Creatures that could pack a small punch and were powerful enough to kill a few human beings were Intermediate grade spires.
And creatures that had the force and power to destroy buildings, even a single one were known as High grade spires.
Of course the list was longer than that and the ranks went on further but this was the basis, the foundation of said list.
The captain made it sound like the Dune Wyrms were high grade spires when in reality they were only intermediate grade spires. The entire hunt grew extremely boring for Kael to watch but he needed the money he'd gain from the hunt.
He kept count of how many creatures were being killed however when the 40 minutes mark hit and his bodyguards had only killed 300 Dune Wyrms it was time for him to act.
A little further behind Kael, both Vayra and Sariah were stunned terrified. A kill count of 100 hundred was unheard of in Duskwatch's history. In all their numerous hunting trips their highest was 50 kills and that cost them many brave souls. Yet two people had easily decimated 300 of the Dune Wyrms in under 1 hour.
Just as they thought they couldn't be more shocked, they heard footsteps.
Kael walked majestically across the sand like some kind of untouchable god. Both his hands were in his overcoat's pockets as he walked forward. Both Oris and Dren stopped in their tracks as they heard Kael approaching.
The sand crunched softly under his feet but he didn't sink. Three shifting dunes appeared around him and started heading towards the new intruder only to hesitate before attacking.
One of the dunes moved behind him in a zigzag pattern to try and catch any hidden explosives. Another popped its armor plated back to see if there'll be any reaction but there was none.
Seizing the opportunity the three Dune Wyrms rushed towards him with fevor.
Kael lifted his right arm to signal both Dren and Oris to stop attacking the creatures. When the three dunes were close enough, the creatures pounced as their entire bodies were fully exposed.
Making minimal movements, Kael managed to weave his way through the three Dune Wyrms before he seemingly appeared next to Oris and Dren. Grabbing onto their shoulders he nodded slightly to both of them before heading forward.
He managed to weave his way through the entire domain without a single scratch until he got to the center of the Dune Wyrms Domain.
"It's been a long time since I was allowed to use my powers freely. Let's see my progress." Kael said as he lightly tapped the fine sand.
A heavy blue energy burst out in all directions with Kael being at the center as it kept expanding. The force was so large that it carried Oris and Dren back to the starting location while making sure no one else could enter.
The others were forced to spectate what was about to happen.
Kael lifted his leg and took a step into the air. Crystal blue energy platforms appeared under his feet as he climbed the air itself like it was a set of stairs until he was a sufficient distance off the ground. He then dramatically lifted both hands as hundreds upon hundreds of Dune Wyrms were forced to surface due to an unknown force.
Sensing the cause of the unknown energy, the Dune Wyrms all started jumping one by one in a massive swarm to try and swallow Kael.
"Let the game begin!" Kael yelled out.
A swipe of his left hand downward and a slender blue energy pieced through the head of a Dune Wyrm. Another swipe and another kill, Kael started moving his arms around like a maniac killing multiple Dune Wyrms in seconds as more kept surfacing and jumping to their demise.
As hundreds of Dune Wyrms rushed out with tens of them jumping towards Kael only to die. A large bulging dune appeared.
"Bingo, that's the price." Kael said his eyes gleaming with excitement.
He continued killing until his kill count crossed 150 and he got bored again.
"Fine then, if you're not going to act, I will." Kael said as he dove down like an Olympic swimmer.
As he approached the fine sand below his whole body turned transparent as a blue energy outline formed around him and he slipped seemlessly and without issue into the fine sand below.
"I can't see him anymore, why did he even put up the barrier anyway?" Sariah asked.
Everything was going smoothly until Kael stepped into the Dune Wyrms Domain. She couldn't quite understand but she had a feeling that Kael was holding back massively.
They all stood around for a while but nothing important seemed to happen. Then suddenly all the energy disappear along with the barrier.
Confusion and worry took root in the hearts of the two girls. Vayra was just about to go into the Domain to look for him when he was suddenly pulled back by Oris. She wasn't even given a chance to complain as something phenomenal happened.
A gigantic explosion the size of a nuclear bomb erupted covering every inch of the Domain. The captain and most others could see the explosion and a smile appeared on their faces. The captain was happy to have assigned this task to a Murion.
Oris, Dren, Sariah and Vayra were left speechless as they looked at all that power. The explosion died down and disappeared as abruptly as it appeared leaving behind a scorched but hardened land in place of the domain.
The others were looking for Kael when something heavy landed majestically behind them. They turned around just in time to see the end of a large cape fall to the ground and kick up dust without getting dirty.
