All heads pointed towards the pile of blood and gore. A member of their team, someone they'd known for more than six years, was just reduced to a red paste in less than a few seconds, why, because he spoke up.
It wasn't panic or realization that set in first, it was pain. A sudden burst of pain within every single members chest. Some were too shocked to react while others moaned and groaned.
Sariah stood there for a few seconds, unable to move as a distinct type of pain set itself in her chest. She groaned as her hand subconsciously landed on her chest.
"What the hell are you drama queens doing, we haven't even touched you yet." Captain Vaylan stated before he realized that whatever was happening was affecting Sariah.
Paying closer attention, he noticed a slight blue glow within everyone present's chest as realization dawned on him. Whatever was happening was affecting all the people affected by Kael's power, which meant more than likely that Kael had been affected.
He took a few seconds to think of what to do, as a smile blossomed on his face.
"It's a damn good thing I posted Vayra outside." Captain Vaylan said to himself as he stepped forward.
He stood in front of the mass of groaning subordinates as he spoke, his voice booming with immense authority, grabbing the attention of everyone.
"You will all now return back to work and if anyone so much as grumbles a complaint, you will end up like the first guy." He stated like it was fact.
He then turned his back to the people as he intended to head towards the elevator. But that's when everything popped off.
The person at the forefront made his move. He ran quickly and appeared behind Vaylan as he struck a punch with all his might.
Sariah reacted quickly as an unknown force descended onto his body, keeping him in place. Vaylan felt the shift in tension behind him and turned around only for two feet to strike his head from his left and right as someone tackled the first attacker out of the zone he was in before he suffered the same fate as the person who complained.
Captain Vaylan tried to grab the two feet only for them to retreat quickly as a heavy force slammed into his stomach.
He was sent back a few centimeters as the people quickly shuffled themselves and got ready to fight.
"Alright, I see how it is." An uninjured captain Vaylan spoke. "If death is so much what you want, it shall be granted to you."
He spoke as Sariah appeared by his side with both arms in the air. A heavy gravitational force descended onto everyone other than Sariah within the Titan Spire's first level as it threatened to crush them all.
Suddenly, blue energy erupted and enveloped the bodies of all 99 remaining subordinates. They all had not been lucky enough to awaken an ability, which would have been bad in this situation.
But they worked for Kael. His ability granted them a boost in physical strength, and, because they lacked abilities, a Nullborne energy core was established within them which granted them all single pseudo idiospec.
The ability to shift between dimensions without existing within a single one for ten seconds allowing them to ignore the laws of the prime dimension for ten seconds but could only be used twice a day.
The gravitational force suddenly stopped working on the 99 subordinates as their bodies started to glow a little. Taking advantage of the skill, they scattered and surrounded the two opponents ready to attack.
The glow soon dispersed as the group rushed forward. Suddenly, they all crushed into an invisible barrier that took up the entire center of the first level and slowly expanded. The gravitational force had disappeared at this point.
Those closest to the captain were pushed back while those further back were stopped as the barrier continued to expand. In only a few seconds, all of them had been stopped and were being sturdily pushed back.
A heavy impact struck the barrier as it halted for two seconds before resuming.
"Ahh I see, am guessing you're the one who struck me in the stomach earlier weren't you?" He asked looking directly at the crew's representative who had a fist out.
He struck the barrier again as it halted again and an annoyed look appeared on Vaylan's face. Before the representative could strike a third time, Vaylan waved his hand as the representative fell through the barrier.
The representative erupted with Nullborne Matter as he got up and dashed forward towards Vaylan only for a heavy gravitational force to suddenly halt him in his tracks.
"There are two of us remember, you must be the leader of your little group of subordinates. Tell me something, why are you wasting your talent serving those cowards. People who would rather sit at home while their people die to serve them." Vaylan asked the representative.
"Master Kael, c-can never leave us to die, not while he's still alive. We are his lifeline, we're not just his subordinates, we're his friends." The representative stated while struggling against the gravitational force.
"Then where is your master Kael now, asleep somewhere on his ship. You're not his friends, you're replaceable." Vaylan yelled at the representative before punching him in the face.
"Think, if you were so important to him you'd still be safe back on the ship. He would be here suffering with you guys. Instead he's probably planing on going out hunting for spires that have nothing to offer him whatsoever." Vaylan yelled some more.
"Get, Out, Of, My, Head." The representative stated while struggling as he managed to force himself out of the small gravity well as he changed his targets. He would aim for the most troublesome person.
"He granted us this power. We were the weakest and most useless members of the faction but he saved us, made us who we are, we are nothing without him and will serve him until our dying breathes!" The representative stated as he slammed his feet into the ground using the force to shoot forward towards Sariah.
His momentum was immediately halted by an invisible barrier as he slammed into it. All the others started pounding onto the invisible barrier around the three as it started shrinking, albeit very slowly.
