Kael opened his eyes and the first thing he noticed was how dark the place he was in was. He tried to move but couldn't as he realized something kept his arms from moving, he had a killer headache.
He breathed in deeply and immediately regretted his decision as a reeking scent invaded his lungs. He couldn't even breathe properly as the realization that this smell was everywhere slapped him across the face.
Paying more attention to his environment, he could hear multiple dripping sounds from all around him. He could move his legs a few centimeters but that was enough to realize that the ground he stood on was ankle deep in water.
The darkness and the smell made thinking impossible but he still tried nonetheless because there was nothing else to do besides that.
After thinking for a while is when his memories finally came and realization dawned on him.
"If I collapsed in front of the door, won't that mean they found me, where even am I." Kael asked himself.
As he continued to think some more, he heard footsteps. A door opened at the other side of the room shining some light on his situation.
Metallic chains bound his arms and legs to the wall behind him. His arms were spread out at the same height as his shoulders. He was in a large metallic room with what looked like a very small metallic wall about knee high in front of him with a metallic door at its center.
He quickly looked around him only to find that the liquid he was standing in wasn't water but a large amount of blood with more leaking from above. Looking upwards, he saw large bloody sacks, about a hundred of them filled with an unknown bloody substance.
Looking forward, he finally saw who had come to visit him.
"You should be lucky you're still alive. I was about to kill you myself but my boss wanted you alive. He said your power would be very useful to him. He wanted me to place you in a cell but after what you did to my sister, you deserve more than this. If you were wondering what those bags were, their the remains of your people, keep that in mind if you refuse to corporate." With that, Vaylan left.
Vaylan had visited this cell multiple times to see if Kael had woken up. Over the past week, he'd been planning many different ways to torture him, to humiliate him, to make him pay for what he did to his sister.
Kael had been out for so long that all his intentions had just escaped his mind. He was still grieving over the loss of his sister but ultimately, he knew it was his fault for leaving her outside to guard the tower.
Walking back upstairs, Vaylan was sent back to that day.
The day Kael had first been introduced.
Vaylan had started to resent the Murions for failing to help his people with their problems. He had never sent a formal request to ask for help but it was the Murions, they should have known his outpost was in trouble, but they sat there doing nothing.
Vaylan had not known of Kael's situation. He didn't even know that the Murions had a tradition like so.
One day, a foreign connection had been formed between the Titan Spire and an unknown source. He was personally informed about a coming war that aimed to end the Murion family and was recruited as an inside man.
The instructions were simple. A Murion was heading his way, he was to assign an assassin and an analyst to the Murion, the analyst would judge his power and figure out the best way to kill him while the assassin would kill the Murion with the information provided.
He decided to use his sister, a very skilled assassin and Sariah, his second best analyst. Their first contact with the Murion, the captain tested the Murion's morals before deciding to continue with the plan.
What he didn't expect was that after the second maybe third contact with the Murion that he would perform a miracle. The Murion did the impossible. He forced an awakening between his sister and Sariah.
Kael Murion was the reason why Vayra and Sariah had gained abilities in the first place. After their first mission, Sariah concluded that Kael was unbeatable but Vaylan didn't take her words seriously.
He spent his own time and energy training the two women. The plan was supposed to be simple. Act shady and rash enough for Murion to send his two guards away with their retreating outpost members. The whole operation was supposed to be secret up until the reinforcements he was informed about would arrive.
A force of 5000 seasoned warriors would descende onto the outpost, making it seem like they were attacked on the outside and the Murion lost his life. From there would he inform his people that they were joining forces with the 'enemies'.
He sent his people on multiple useless missions to keep them busy and did the same with the Murion so he would be away when the massacre of his forces occurred. The Murion would then return only to be ambushed.
Vaylan never expected that the death of his members would alert Kael and because he knew his sister couldn't stomach it, he lied to her that she was protecting the tower from the Murion.
The whole plan was a little complicated but would only lead to the death of the Murion and his forces, keep the outpost members innocent and not involved with the betrayal just in case the Murion's struck with full force and if successful would put him in charge of a force of 6000 people to set a stronghold on the planet.
But everything went wrong, everything went so very wrong.
