Chapter Two: The Ghost of Ryuu
Ryuu stood in the center of the shrine, his eyes narrowed, scanning the darkness. He knew Kaito would come for him. He had been waiting for this moment ever since he had betrayed the clan—ever since he had sold his soul for power.
"Why did you leave me, Kaito?" Ryuu muttered, his voice a mixture of anger and regret. "Why couldn't you see the world as it truly is?"
Kaito, hidden in the shadows, listened. His grip on his shuriken tightened. Ryuu wasn't just speaking to the night. He was speaking to Kaito.
"You chose the wrong path," Kaito finally spoke, his voice sharp and cold. "I didn't leave you, Ryuu. You left us."
Ryuu turned slowly, his eyes flashing with bitterness. "Then it's too late to turn back now, Kaito. The warlords are my allies now. You, the last shadow, have no place in this world."
With a sharp movement, Ryuu threw a kunai into the shadows, forcing Kaito to leap from his position. The battle was about to begin.
