Chapter 51 - A Debt to be Repaid

In the garden, the fight raged on. Both women were starting to show the toll—scratches and bruises marred their skin, but they continued like warriors in war, never faltering.

Wyatt turned to Elijah, his jaw tight. "That's enough," he said firmly.

Elijah tilted his head, watching the fight for a moment longer before nodding. "Agreed."

With the speed of a lightning bolt, Elijah moved. One moment he was on the porch, the next he was standing between the two women, his hands still casually clasped behind his back. Both Anastasia and Britney froze mid-strike, their fists mere inches from his face.

"Okay, ladies," Elijah said smoothly. "You've both made your point. Save some energy for the angels upstairs, okay?"

Britney stepped back, wiping a bead of sweat from her brow. Anastasia hesitated, her fists still clenched, her body tense.

Elijah raised a brow at her. "I said enough, Ana."

Reluctantly, Anastasia lowered her hands, her chest still heaving. But Britney, of course, wasn't done. She crossed her arms, a sly smile playing on her lips.

"I'm owed a debt," she said casually.

The air grew thick with tension. Everyone turned to stare at her, confusion etched across their faces. Everyone except Zython, who suddenly looked very interested in his popcorn. And Anastasia… Anastasia's face darkened.

"What debt?" Wyatt growled, his voice low and dangerous. "What are you playing at, little Babaroga?"

Britney's grin widened. "The one that was agreed to save Matt's life."

Matt's head snapped toward her, his face a mask of shock. "What are you talking about?" he demanded.

Britney's gaze slid to Anastasia, who was glaring at her with murderous intent. "Now's not the time," Anastasia said through gritted teeth.

"Oh, I think it is," Britney countered, her tone dripping with smug satisfaction.

Wyatt's eyes narrowed, his fists clenching at his sides. "What the hell is she talking about, Ana?"

Anastasia didn't respond. Her jaw was tight, her eyes locked on Britney in a silent warning.

Britney stepped closer, her eyes gleaming with cruel satisfaction. "You see, I'm one of Zython's best warriors." She glanced at Zython, who shrugged and nodded in agreement.

"She's right. She is," he said matter-of-factly.

Britney continued. "Which is why I've been selected for this little suicide mission. But I'm not going anywhere until my debt is paid."

Anastasia's voice was a whip crack. "We don't need you anyway."

Zython chuckled. "Oh, but you do. The deal was my best warriors come with us, and she's one of them. Without her, it's just the four of you, and let's be honest—your chances without us? Zero."

Wyatt's patience was gone. "What is this debt, demon? Spit it out."

Britney's grin turned feral. "Matt was supposed to be dead. Ana made a deal… her life for his and I get Matt in my bed. She survived as usual since it seems hard to kill this bitch, but now I'm here to claim my prize."

The weight of her words crashed down on them like a tidal wave. Wyatt stared at Anastasia, his face a mask of shock and betrayal.

"What does she mean, Anastasia?" Wyatt demanded.

Anastasia looked down, shame etched across her features.

"I did what I had to do," she said quietly. "I have no regrets."

Elijah sighed, stepping in to explain. "In the previous timeline, Matt died. Anastasia and his witch girlfriend couldn't bear it, so they found a forbidden spell and went back to save him. She took his place, but because she's part angel, she survived. It created an imbalance. But a private agreement was put in place between the three of them. A deal with the devil humans call it and this is the debt Britney's here to collect."

The silence was deafening. Then Wyatt exploded. "How could you be so reckless? Do you even understand what you've done?"

Anastasia met his gaze, unflinching. "I'd do it again. A thousand times if it meant saving Matt."

Matt's voice cracked. "I can't do this. Not to Jenny."

"Jenny already knows," Anastasia said. "She's known since the timeline changed. I gave her a letter she wrote to herself. She knew Britney would come for the debt eventually."

Matt looked at her, horrified. "You made this choice for me?"

"You were dead!" Anastasia snapped, her voice breaking.

Wyatt clenched his fists. "Where is this spell? It needs to be destroyed."

Zython's playful demeanor vanished. "It already is. I burned it in hellfire. It was too dangerous for anyone to have."

The weight of the revelation settled over them, but Britney wasn't done. She turned to Matt, her smile predatory. "Time's up, lover boy."

Wyatt sighed, his shoulders sagging. He knew, that if you make a deal with a demon, it is as good as an unbreakable contract. If it is broken, all parties involved are punished with an early death and eternity in hell. "A demon's debt must be repaid. I'm sorry son. "

Matt's face was ashen as he walked down the stairs to Britney. She grabbed his hand, her grin victorious as she glanced back at Anastasia and then back at Wyatt.

"Don't worry, Daddy," Britney said mockingly. "I'll have him back before midnight."

And with that, they vanished.
