Chapter 16: It's over
Jian was dancing with Ethan and having fun but she kept glancing around she felt a bit anxious
"Where's frank" she asked
"Why" Ethan asked he felt like he was missing something, why was jian so anxious about Frank's where abouts, he just hoped it wasn't what he was dreading
"I'm going to look for chloe" she said instead and dashed off, Ethan was about to follow him when Jacob called him over, he glanced at Jian's direction who was out of sight then at jacob who was waving him over. He sighed he'll ask her later when things calm down. Jian was right because as she got closer she could hear faith screams, she panicked and ran even faster, the elevator was too slow for her so she took the stair, two steps at a night. What she saw when she opened the door made her heart stop, everything lookes like in slow mo, Frank was lifting his fist looked like he put a lot of strength into it, Berlu's head was turned as he wiped the blood on the side of his mouth and chloe rushing in-between them to stop Frank. Jian acted on impulse and rushed to push chloe out of the way, what if frank doesn't stop in time and hit her, instead of chloe receiving the blow or stoping Frank the blow ended up hitting jian who immediately slumped on the floor but before anyone could register anything a hard punch landed on Frank which sent him to the ground too, everything happened so fast, everyone was shocked, hand over their mouth
"You okay" Seth asked as he picked her up, jian was a bit disoriented and her jaw hurt
"I-" she tried saying something but it made her jaw hurt so she just held onto it, seeing that seth turned around ready to give frank another punch to reset his brain but juan held he's skirt as if she knew what he was thinking
"Fine" she completed her sentence hand still over her jaw and cheeks
"I-" Frank began but nothing would come out, he glanced and chloe who was a sobbing mess as she tried to apologize to jian but all her words were incoherent as tears kept rolling down. Jian ended up hugging her and trying to console her instead
"I'm sorry" he mumbled before walking off. Berlu opened his mouth several times but closed it back up he couldn't say anything even though he had a whole speech in his head
"Not now" jian muttered to him
"Chloe, I'm really sorry" he said before walking off too
"You sure you're okay" Seth asked worried as he touched her jaw, she whined in pain and he kept apologized again and again, although her jaw was still paining she really found the way he's brows scrunched up, he's squinted eyes and he's frown amusing, it gave her a sweet feeling in her chest. Another person who was just a spectator couldn't help frown not from worry for Jian's punched jaw but the way Seth was behaving, was she too late, her heart skipped a beat, no way. She took a deep breath and walked forward
"You should ice that jaw and see a doctor immediately, can i take a look" Fiona asked, all eyes turned to her, she smild back
"She's a surgeon not yet but" seth explained and Fiona chickled
"Oh this is J-" he started introduction but Fiona cut him off
"We've meet" she smiled, this time jian felt her smile was a bit off, unlike the morning when she came her smile was actually sweet and polite but now it looked force and felt like it had a underlined meaning. Jian didn't duel on it her jaw was killing her, she let fiona take a look at her jaw, after a while she concluded it wasn't broken, which was a relief, the four of them left to get her to the hospital for a checkup which was safer and better
"I'm sorry jian" chloe apologized again, jian had just managed to stop her crying she didn't want a round two of that
"I'll- beat-you up- if you---cry" it was hard for her to speak with her pained jaw and chloe understood she just nodded and hugged her, trying to hold back her tears, jian didn't want Ethan or Jacob to know about it anyone infact and chloe agreed, they didn't want the wedding's happy atmosphere to be chaged to a sad or concerned one. This was Brianna's once in a lifetime opportunity and they didn't want to ruin it and if Ethan knew hell might as well break lose so jian texted him telling her she needed to get something home and she'll be back ASAP, he volunteered to go with her but she refused and she she already left with chloe so ethan dropped the matter but he couldn't shake off the worry.
Frank found a dark corner to crouch in, he lit his cigarette as she leaned back. What has he done, he hurt her, he wanted to get back at berlu so bad tht he didn't realize he would hurt innocent people in the process. His score was with berlu although berlu did hurt innocent people too, if he did the same how better was he than berlu. All that happened made him think of the past
Sera was the new student at Preston high so obviously everyone's eye was on her not only was she topping the class and beating all the smart kids not only in her class but the whole grade, she was also very reserved and quite but that doesn't mean she was bully material, she once slapped the so called Queenbee of the school after he insulted her father who was the janitor of the school, she was very humble and wasn't ashamed of her background, making her very likable ontop of that she was very pretty with curly brunette hair, dark skin, brown eyes that glowed gold under the sun made everyone guy wanna to be with her, most of the girls wanted to be her friends and the others even though they were jealous of her could admitt she was a beauty with brains. Just like the others guys Frank fell too, the Frank now was different from the Frank then, he was very quiet and unbothered, he was either studying, playing football or doing he's own thing and berlu was popular, he was loud, a flirt and your typical bad boy, the were popular in different ways. Sera's cousin was on thesame basketball team that berlu was on. She went to take him some water and there berlu and he's friends saw her, berlu was known as the prince charming of Preston high, just like how guys flocked to sera and misa, the queen bee of the school, girls flocked to berlu like that too but the only person who didn't look his way even though he tried subtly getting her attention was Sera
"Agh the pain of not getting what one desires" one of his team mates teased
"Really" berlu asked with a smirk, was that a challenge
"You dare" another asked and berlu nodded as he fixed his stare on the retreating figure, he was berlu the prince charming if Preston high, he could absolutely get anyone he wanted and sera was no exception.
"What are you thinking" Fiona had asked one time they were hanging out and he looked out if it
"I have a new target" he said and fiona shook her head, which poor girl was going to fall into his trap again
"Who" she asked not very interested, it was berlu what was surprising about him and women
"Sera" he muttered, at that moment frank and seth walked in and although he wasn't loud frank heard the name, he didn't hear the whole conversation but he could accurately guess what he meant and he didn't like it because he liked sera and knew berlu just wanted to play with her. That night he decided to have a talk with berlu about it and Berlu being the asshole he was just said
"May the best man win" and walked off, Frank applauded himself for being able to hold back and not beat the hell out of Berlu. For a while, frank thought berlu was just bluffing because he didn't approach sera in any way, he was even going to buy drinks to have a talk with Berlu and thank him for taking a step back for him but how wrong he was because just six days after their talk he made he's move and the rest was history, Frank lost before he even tried. So he gave me and didn't hold berlu against it because it looked like he actually liked sera but then one day he came to school late and the whole hallway was in an uproar, students were giggling and mumbling, others had a sorry expression on and before he could ask for way to pass, the students made way and he saw a figure running off, her hands wiping her eyes, it was sera and what was going on. A day before they were playing tennis this time and some of his basketball friends were on the tennis team too and during their break they started chatting about girls until they reached the sera issue
"How's your new girlfriend coming along" one if them asked and berlu smiled
"Good" he answered, he was really enjoying this boyfriend and girlfriend stuff, they even went on a late night walk and he remembered how small she looked in his coat, it was so cute subconsciously he chuckled
"Looks like ahe pulled you instead" another joked and the others laughed
"The mighty prince has fallen" another added and the others laughed even
more
"You think" Berlu asked, he's pride was hurt, him fallen, what a joke
"How do we even know she likes you and it's not the other way around" the first guy said and the others nodded
"Maybe she's playing you" another said in a low voice, sipping he's drink
"Dumb her" the first guy suddenly said and everyone turned to him, wasn't that a bit too much. Berlu thought he was joking at first, he let out a awkward laugh but when he saw everyone staring at him as if they've telepathically communicated and agreed he frown
"Shut up" he said in anger but the others gave him a look before continuing their meals, he could see the glances they gave him and each other as they ate in silence at the end if the meal he couldn't take it anymore
"Fine" he slammed his hands on the table startling the others
"Really" the guys asked and he leaned back with a smirk before giving them a nodd, that night he didn't sleep well and for some reason wished morning never came but morning did and he went to school. Sera actually prepared lunch for herself and decided to take some for him too, she was ready for the school to know they're together she didn't want to hide it anymore she was going to walk into his class and give him the lunch, he was going to be so happy, he has been following her and asking why she didn't want their relationship private he wanted the whole world to know he was her boyfriend and she was his girlfriend, thinking about it made her heart flutter. She didn't want to make it private because senior year was almost over and she didn't want misa and the other girls to give her trouble but she didn't mind now because she knew berlu really liked her, but to her horror she was humiliated when she took the lunch to him and embarrassed she couldn't believe it. Sera never came back to school after that day, her father also quit and no one knew her where abouts. Berlu and Frank searched high and low, going to their house but he was told her left.
"Well job well done berlu, job well done" Frank had shouted at him in anger and he couldn't even defend himself, he fucked up big time. He dropped out of the basketball and tennis team and cut off he's basketball team friends. And used the remaining six months of highschool to try and make it up to frank, thanks to seth and fiona he forgave him and they put it behind them but deep down he still resented berlu for wht he did, but as he say down at that corner, leaned back, bruised up he didn't feel any of that anymore, maybe because he took it out on berlu but at what expense. He intentionally challenged berlu to go for chloe, then made opportunities intentionally to get them together and berlu to fall for her and then he swiped in and stole her and wasn't planning on dumping her like berlu did, he was just going to be with her just to hurt berlu but then chloe found out about he's plan and everything and things just went south from there. He decided then and there he was done, he gave up, he wasn't going anywhere near her, he hurt her enough with that conclusion he couldn't help but cry and scream just letting all his frustration out.
Jian was exteemined and just like fiona said thankfully it was just really painful but her jaw wasn't broken or dislocated which was a relieve, she was checked up and given some meds before they left
"I'm really sorry" chloe apologized with a pout holding back her tears, jian just hugged her back showing that she forgave her for whatever she was apologizing for. By the time the four got back, it was already past ten and some of the older guest were leaving, leaving the youngers ones there who were going to have their own wedding ceremony, they're own style.
"Jian" they heard some called with concerned and they could guess that Ethan
"Are you okay" he asked pulling jian closer to him
"Berlu told me what happened" he said as he gently put his hand on her jaw
"Ugh that guy" she muttered trying to put on a smile to dispell some of his worries but her smile was anything but convincing it only made Ethan more worried, Fiona who was observing everything silently couldn't help but smile so this was the situation here, she thought
"Let's go" seth whispered to her grabbing her hand, it looked like thwy were interrupting some stupid couple moment, he scoffed. Jian turned around and saw the two walking off hands together she looked up and her eyes meet with Fiona's who smiled at her she was about to smile back as a thank you but she saw how she held on to Seth's hand even tighter, jian couldn't help think that was a warning of some sort, looks like she still had feeling for her ex-boyfriend. Berlu and frank didn't attend the rest if the ceremony, Berlu was in the venue but didn't just, he was ao bumped out he didn't feel like doing anything he just wanted his peace and quite to think abd for Frank he went back home that thesame night.
