Chapter 15: The love triangle.
Chole and Berlu walked in silence, as if telepathically communicating, they ended up on the rooftop and leaned against railings.
"I-" they both said together, they glanced at each other then chuckled
"You can go first" chloe said, the atmosphere returning to serious, Berlu took a Deep breath
"I'm sorry chloe, i truly didn't mean to hurt you i-" chloe who was going to listen to he's side of the story then say hers and then they'll go their separate ways but when she heard berlu say he didn't mean to hurt her, she just had to pause him
"Oh you didn't" she said sarcastically.
How all this started, was when her Councilor adviced her, that if she wanted a boast up in the job market in the future, she might as well gather some experience while still learning. She decided to take her advice for it, she applied to small companies in her area but then one day she went to a seminar and the vice president of Sonic safe was giving a speech and she decided I'll apply to that company, Sonic safe and co wasn't a small company it was a leading company in America with branches all around the world, when she went home that night she even laughed about it with her cousin and jian who came to visit
"It was like when i applied for havard" Mia joked and the three laughed even more, she never ever thought they'll accept her the first few days she actually had this hope that maybe just maybe but as time passed, one week, then two her hope began to diminish but then the third week she received an unexpected email and she was accepted to intern at sonic safe and co for a year and after 6 months if she did a satisfactory work they'll add another 6 months of internship with bonus payments. At that moment she was so excited but then her experience there wasn't very pleasing, from bullying which she didn't take lightly, if she wasn't the bully she wasn't going to get bullied, at first it was just small but then when berlu started to be nice to her it was worst, she didn't take it laying down but that didn't mean she liked it or it didn't affect her then frank came along and everything was a mess. She remembered the first days it was actually peaceful just stressful, lots of bring this and bring that, meetings here and there but she enjoyed the corporate life. Berlu began to notice chloe during his visits to he's uncle, who was he's mentor too and the vice president of sonic safe and co. Although he's father didn't own the company, he had the biggest share apart from the chairman who happen to be he's father's best friend so he was like a boss there. Berlu have been actually noticing chloe but never just approached her, she just reminded her of someone, her fiesty attitude, her quite and reserved personality, how she wasn't playing around and wouldn't let anyone bully her regardless her situation. He saw how she wasn't playing around and won't let anybody step on her, she even once talked back to his uncle even the CEO won't dare to talk to him like that, since then he's uncle have always been praising her but he wasn't interested in her if anything he was envious the one he's uncle is Praising for being quick-witted and smart was that girl instead of him. His uncle had them work together a few times and when realized that they make a good team he assigned Berlu to look after her and she should go to berlu when she needed anything, he was like a direct senior but they didn't have any interaction that wasn't necessary but berlu liked spending time with her, at that time he didn't know he was catching a crush. Until the day he wished to change so much was when he came with his friends to borrow his uncle's private jet they were going to a private island to celebrate Seth's birthday and say farewell for he was going to a special program that every one in his family attends, it was a mixture of training, learning the family business and extra.Chloe at this point has been working at sonic safe and co for about a month
"Whose that" Kiel asked as he noticed berlu staring at someone with a smile as she applied what he taught her, explaining to a co-worker, Frank noticed too
"Oh a friend" he replied
"Should i go for her, doesn't look like you can" Frank said it looked like a joke to others, they even laughed but Berlu didn't
"Bet" he said with a smirk and that's where everything went south, Berlu was determined to get Chloe to be his girlfriend and Frank saw the perfect opportunity for payback, Berlu was a jerk whether he turned a new leaf or not, Frank didn't care he was going to give him a taste of he's own medicine. The next day he came to collect the keys as he's uncle had agreed to let them have the jet and use his private island. He meet chole being bullied, he decided this was the part he acts prince charming and boom she'll fall for him. Perfect he thought, but before he'll step in she saw her slap the co-worker after she said some nasty things about her family background, he was surprised she looked so timid like a shy type, when ever they were together she was always quite and polite. He didn't expect her to retaliate like that,
"I think that's enough" Berlu said holding her colleague's hand who was about to slap her back, both girls were surprised but her co-worker who happen to have a crush on him like half the females in the office couldn't believe he was defending chloe a new comer over her, they've known each other for about 8 years at that point.
"Those documents wouldn't print themselves" berlu said letting go of her hand, earlier she had asked chloe to print those documents 100 times, chloe knew that wasn't necessary at all but she didn't want to fight her, she was in a higher position than her and it is rumored she was in a relationship with one of the shareholders. Whether true or not Chloe didn't want to take her chances, what if she said something and gets her fired so she quickly took the documents to print but looked like the girl wanted her rilled up and she succeeded. She picked up the documents gave Chloe a glare before walking off, that's when it hit her, what if the girl made trouble for her, she just started and already took a year off university she was sure she'll finish her six months and get the other bonus six months but looked like that was going to be just a delusion now. She slapped the girl who is said to have alot of influence and backup.
"What have i done" she had murmured
"Don't worry, i have more influence and a bigger backup" berlu had whispered to her with a smirk
"Then i can relia on you" she asked and berlu nodded with a smile. And that night was the first time they started chatting and built a close friendship.
"What are you cooking" Seth asked Frank as he noticed he's menacing smile he gave the oblivious Berlu as he cut he's apples
"Just building the stage" he replied, Seth just looked at him weird back then, no one knew what he was cooking then. The day they got back from their private island he set he's plan, Berlu was already caught in his web. Whether she liked chloe for real or he was just trying to win the bet and prove that he is indeed berlu he can pull any woman he didn't know but he was coming to make sure in the process of proving himself, he'll actually begin to like her and that's where he'll come in.
"You literally only started to be nice to me to win some stupid bet" chloe yelled thinking about all that happened she just couldn't help me burst out. What did they talk about when they meet, how stupid she was for falling into their trap, how gullible she was. She couldn't help but start laughing as tears started flowing down her cheeks
"I- I'm sorry but i did love you chloe, i know i messed up at first i-" he began to choke up too, he did regret it
"I know i messed up Chloe" he said holding her hands as she sobbed
"All I ask is your forgiveness and I'll make it up to you all-" he was cut off again by Frank's abrupt entrance
"Chloe" he called out, he was looking for chloe and jian with Ethan then he bumped into a friend that Friend happen to be with another friend who told him he saw chole walking with Berlu to the rooftop. He was scared Berlu was going to make his matter worst, he messed up big time and he didn't need berlu to make it worst.
"Oh look whose here" Berlu couldn't help but be sarcastic
"Oh shut up" Frank retorted
"Leave" Berlu took a deep breath, he was really trying not to blow up on Frank, the audacity this guy has
"What if i don't" frank said walking closer
"I have something to say to chloe too" he added, taking Chloe's hand and that was Berlu's breaking point he swung he's fist, catching frank off guard, hitting him in the jaw. Frank didn't take it laying down he swung back and the two began fighting, chloe kept screaming for them to stop but it was like her words were air and they couldn't hear a thing.
