Chapter 39: the color Yellow
Jian just got home, after the breakfast date she had with Seth she decided to pass by the beach, it was sunny and quite just what she wanted. She couldn't help smile she enjoyed the breeze remembering the kiss she shared with Seth she squealed falling on the sand, she lay there enjoying the sun. She wasn't a plant but she does enjoy the sun especially when its cold. As she got ready to leave, she opened her purse to get her phone and call an uber that's when she saw a flash drive, she frowned that wasn't her's, was it Seth's she wondered, when she realized she now had a reason to call she got her phone and immediately dailed his number, she wanted to know how the confrontation with Fiona went too. He picked up on the second ring as if he was waiting for her call, turned out she was right it was indeed his flash drive and she accidentally picked it up from the table at the restaurant after finding out that he sorted things out with Fiona, she ended the call. Jian was looking forward to Fiona apologizing the girl looked like she carried herself with a gold cloud, well according to her lifestyle and wealth and just everything she might aswell, she called and the uber came after 20 minutes it arrived, her plan was to initially good home but she decided to go to her mom's bakery, she haven't visited for a while and missed the pampering the aunties there gave her so she called chole to check if they were still at her place but no one was picking up, she called Ethan too but no one picked up aswell Ethan did leave her a message though, saying he had somewhere to be but he'll be back before 5 so they can have their tradition of celebrating there birthday the three of them, chole told her she had to go escort her dad to the hospital, he had food poisoning but it wasn't serious and she would be back and she legit believed them, they had good reasoning. She decided to go to her mom's bakery and kill time before 5 when she'll have her own little party with her friends and family.
On her way to the bakery she received a call and it was bianca she nearly screamed
"Babyy" bianca called out immediately jian picked up, she apologized for her late wishes jian teased her about having so much of a fun time she forgot about her. After chatting for a bit, bianca told her she already delivered her gift to her mail house it was from her and jacob the guy was still sleeping even though the sun was still up, even though he wouldn't normally. After saying her thanks and they're goodbyes jian let the newlyweds be.
She missed her big sisters, Bianca was off enjoying her honeymoon and Stephanie went to Italy in her words 'to relax' the girls had teased her that she's going there just to find a husband for herself since she left they've only talked on the phone once and the times they've chatted can be counted using one hand. She checked her messages and Wondered why Stephanie didn't leave her a birthday message how busy was she, she sighed she'll definitely put a dent in her wallet when she comes back for not wishing her happy birthday.
"We're here ma'am" the driver informed jolting jian back to reality
"Oh thank you" jian said with an awkward smile, she was embarrassed she was caught day dreaming but the guy just chuckled after paying she walked in to the bakery and immediately was overwhelmed with love, they must have seen her through the window because the moment she walked in she received the loudest birthday song ever which overwhelmed her she was literally on the verge of tears
"Awnn our baby is all grown" one of the aunties said giving her a hug and the rest followed in suit
"Come" another said leading her to one of the tables, they all went to the back and came out each holding a gift including her mother, that was eight gifts in total
"You guys" Jian said trying to hold back her tears
"You deserve all the love sweetie" Her mom said giving her hug, the rest of the afternoon went perfectly, jian got to eat whenever she craved she was the VIP of the moment and they spoilt her, she was there until around 2 when Susan politely tried driving her away, she was suspicious why her mom wanted her to go back so bad but when she told her she'll need time to get ready before her friends would come and drag her to every place dragable in the name of celebration, talking about her friends they didn't send her anymore messages after the last conversation they had about their whereabouts, she sighed everyone is really busy these days she thought to herself as she packed to raculently leave, Ethan told her by five she might aswell go pick out her dress and get ready they'll come she positively thought
"Bye guys" she waved after packing all her gifts in a bigger bag, she called an uber the uber arrived 25 minutes later by that time it was 2:58 almost three by the time she got home it was already 3:15 she threw herself on the coach. Thinking about it she's really tired from sleeping late the night before to waking up early then going to meet Fiona who not only made her wait for a very long unnecessary time but just gave her headache with her audacity. She needed a bit of rest but as soon as she was catching that sleep her phone rang, she was about to reject the call when she saw that it was Seth the sleep immediately left her eyes and she was sitting straight and coughing the awkwardness and sleepiness off her.
"Hello" Seth said immediately the phone was picked up, he was at the flower shop after collecting Jian's gift and he realized he doesn't even know her favorite flowers, he didn't want to buy the wrong flower or worst what she was allergic too. He was told flowers were important to woman and he didn't want to mess this up so he came up with an idea, he was going to ask her favorite color and pick a flower baised on that, he just prayed he wouldn't mess it up
"Hey" Jian answered as she lay back on the coach
"Did i catch you at a bad time" Seth asked when he noticed the grogginess in her voice
"No just a bit sleepy" Jian answered honestly as she yawned making Seth chuckle
"you're so cute" he complimented leaving jian flustered but baffled aswell what was cute about her being sleepy and yawning
"Look whose in love" jian teased and had to bury her face in her pillow to hide her screams after what Seth said next
"And his proud of it"
"Whatever" she coughed trying to change the topic and not totally lose her composure, Seth noticed which made him laugh
"Oh what's your favorite color" he asked getting back to the main reason why he had called in the first place
"Me?" Jian asked, why was he suddenly asking for my favorite color was he preparing a gift, the thought gave her butterflies in her stomach, seth hummed in response indicting he was asking for her favorite color
"Yellow and pink, why?" She asked and heard silence on the other line and the atmosphere turn a bit odd
"Is everything okay" she asked only then did Seth realize he was still on the phone the color brought an unpleasant memory of the past
"Yellow huh, how peculiar" he teased and jian couldn't help roll her eyes, everything was back to normal
"It used to be my favorite color" he said in a bit if a sad tone
"Why is it not anymore" jian asked the teasing atmosphere had doubled down and things got a bit serious
"It caused some bad things" seth answered
"Fiona has xenophobic because of it, like was abused and stuff" he added with a sigh jian noticed he didn't want to talk about it and it wasn't his place to tell to so even though she was curious, she didn't pursue the matter.
"I'm sorry" jian Said she didn't know whatelse to say, but she did feel bad for Fiona, the girl may have an audacity as big as the sun and being all bratty but she could tell that Fiona was all barks and no bite she was really nice and was only trying to fight her because she thinks she's taking something she owns, maybe she was a bit delusional aswell but overall she was nice to her the day they meet she only turned hostile after the Seth issue
"Oh its okay, she's better now" Seth said when he noticed the depressing voice jian used, she didn't want to change the happiness on someone's birthday because of something that happened in the past
"Yellow it is" he said
"Why do you ask though" jian asked but seth refused to say anything infact when jian kept pressing him for what it was, he said his goodbyes and ended the call
"Asshole" jian cursed, she stretched and checked the time it was 3:27 she decided to catch some sleep until 4 when she'll go collect her mail and gift that Bainaca sent in her mail locker which was just about a minute or less walk from her house.
Mina was pissed but by the end of the call she had that surprised look when you receive good news look on her face, her plan was she'll be the one to hint at Jian about Fiona's phobia then she'll creat a moment for them to fight, she knew for sure Fiona's apology won't go well because jian is a woman who stands her ground she'll demand a proper apology which could send fiona spiralling even if they didn't fight they'll argue and that will set the tension and a motive, then she'll use the hacking she did in Jian's phone and text Fiona to meet then she'll text jian from Fiona's phone then delete it. Fiona would reach the yellow room first and her goons would scare her turning everything yellow, mina went as far as to give them some of her trigger words to get her more traumatized then jian would walk in because she'll hear the commotion which would prompt everyone to walk in, her goons could escape through the back door, Fiona in her state wouldn't remember a thing and could believe anything ecoed to her and that would perfectly work to her advantage in twisting the narrative. But now the fact that Seth was the one that told jian made it even better, one thing about fiona she hated her phobia because it made her weak and she hated being weak so Seth telling her biggest darkest secret to someone she doesn't obviously like would forever have a dent in their relationship and seth he'll be so pissed at jian, that would be the end of they're so called love story. Jian wouldn't even have the time to explain herself she'll makesure of it. Now all she have to do is stir the pot and watch it boil.
"Wonderful" she said almost jumping around
"Hey-" Brent who watched from afar the girl jumping around like a kid who finally got candy got curious and walked towards her, she didn't even notice him in her excitement so when he tapped her she screamed startled
"Oh My God" she yelled at him, hand on her chest trying to regulate her breathing
"Woah sorry" he apologized
"I'm in a good mood so its fine" she smiled at him
"Sorry we have to cut this short, i actually have a birthday party to attend" mina added, Brent told her its fine and they spent enough time together to fool their parents, they shared their contacts with each other before mina went inside to inform her parents she was leaving.
"See you around" she waved at Brent who waved back before she hopped into her car and drove off.
