CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2: I forbid it!

Evelyn's Point of View

I was petrified, not in fear but in shock. I had always pictured this day in my mind before now but I gave up. So now that it is actually happening, I have no idea what to do. It was like we were both in our own world. I didn't even realize I was in the way until someone tapped me on my shoulder. I had gotten momentarily lost in his eyes. I don't know when I imagined but I didn't think he would look like this in all my life. He had normal brown eyes but I could get lost in them, frowning in the flecks of gold that floated in his irises. I never knew brown was such an interesting colour. As I step aside for the person, he grabs my arm and I can feel tingled travel from that spot to the rest of my body. My mate was holding my arm.

"Come on. Let's get out of the way." He says in a deep husky voice and I let him pull me out of the event, where there is quiet. I let him because I didn't want him to let go. We were alone now and he drops my arm. I was right. The place he held before felt cold. I just stare at him first. I may be in a fever induced this room. He uses his hand to tilt my chin upwards, probably examining me like I was every inch of his face. In case it was a one time thing, I needed to memorize every detail. Soon, his lips touch mine in tr most gentle kiss I have ever received. If I thought I felt sparks before I was wrong. Those were just tinglings this was a firework. Everything was exploding in my body. This was real. When we break apart for air, I finally accept reality.

"Mate." I finally call out. He gives me a small smile and I think that was where I fell in love with him. He was in a suit, typical of this event. I'm glad I wore this dress though. He has a bad boy look to him. Just like me, he looked like he hated being here. He takes my hand in his again.

"I'm Malakai Fang, alpha of the Fang pack." He introduces. I feel like I've heard that name somewhere, maybe from dad. I just know that I know that name. It doesn't matter though. I introduce myself too and I see shock on his de bug he quickly masks it. I don't really care right now because I just want to be with my mate now so I let it slide. We go back to the conference room and we sit together.

I have no idea what was being said at the conference. It felt like I was under water and everything was sounding so far away. I ignored all of Landon's reminders to network and all. Well, I did network and now, at 22, I have my mate by my side. I never thought this day would come. I look at him. He looked so business like and I wanted to trace his chin just to make sure he was still real. I barely eat, already worrying about the time we would part which was approaching really fast. He held my hand under the table as he continued talking. Well, of course he had to take this conference seriously, being an alpha and all that.

Finally, the conference was over. It was as dreadful and boring as I imagined it would be but I didn't wat to part with Malakai. Even his name was beautiful. We walked slowly. He was walking me to my room. E were chatting about something random and I wasn't listening. We stand in front of the room, neither of us wanting to go.

"This is me." I tell him and he released my hand. I bid him bye, he steps backwards and turn to open the door. My heart was already aching at the thought of him leaving. I was about to step into the room with my aching heart when an arm pulled me. He plants his lips on mine.

"You thought you were going to leave like that? Good night, Lyn. I'll text." He says before leaving. My phone vibrated in my hands and I looked to find a text, 'Hey Lyn'. The text makes me smile. I shut my room door and take off my shoes. I saw his number as Kai. We text throughout the night. He asks me to brunch the next day. It was meant to be dinner but the plane is picking me up tomorrow in the evening. I was so excited to see Kai that I barely slept a wink. I had ordered my fit for the date. It's just brunch but it isn't just brunch.

The ringing of a phone woke me up. I realize that I was late. Our date was set for noon and I was just waking up at 11.30pm. I am so cooked. I rush around the room, trying to organise the little I can before the delivery gets here. I take my clothes which were luckily fine and I rush to have a bath. Finally, I was done. I had to style my hair into a high ponytail to save time. I rush to meet Kai. Luckily, I'm only about five minutes late, somehow. It was a miracle.

I greet him and he pulls me in for a quick kiss before guiding me outside to his car. I didn't realize we were going out but thank goddess that I ordered my fit. Brunch is fine. Again, I can't help but think he is too perfect to be real. Well, I finally find an imperfection and it is a serious one.

"What do you mean our packs are rivals and have been feuding?" I ask alarmed. Everyone knows that werewolves have pride. If there's a feud, there's almost no chance for us because no one would let us be together. No wonder his pack name sounded familiar. Oh no. I couldn't be going through this again. I have finally found a mate and I wouldn't let him go.

"Let's figure that out later. For now, we have each other." Kai says, melting my heart. We did spend time with each other. We were inseparable till it was time for me to leave. I kiss Kai bye and board the plane. Just to set the scene, I text my brother about this new development. When I arrive, my dad was waiting for me at the tarmac.

"You will not mate with a Fang. I forbid it!"
