When they arrived at the café, there was a slight crowd inside. They sat at an empty table by the window. While Hana scanned the menu, Eunwoo had already headed to the counter to place their order.
Eunbi leaned back in her chair and smiled faintly. "Don't you think school went by fast today?"
Hana sighed. "Definitely. But maybe we got too caught up in the details."
When Eunwoo returned to the table, he had three coffees in hand. "I hope you take yours with sugar, Hana."
Hana smiled and took the cup. "Always."
They spent a while talking about ordinary things—teachers, Sera's social media dramas, school events... Then, Eunwoo suddenly smiled and asked:
"So, Hana... Is there anyone in your life right now?"
Hana took a sip of her coffee and raised an eyebrow. "No."
Eunbi raised an eyebrow and interjected. "But there was."
Hana looked at her. "Can we change the subject?"
Eunwoo leaned in curiously. "Really? Who was it?"
Eunbi chuckled lightly. "Don't worry, it's an old issue. It's already closed."
Despite the slight discomfort inside her, Hana tried to smile. "Exactly. No need to bring up old matters."
Eunwoo threw his hands up in mock surrender. "Okay, okay, I'm quiet."
But as Hana took another sip of her coffee, she realized that the strange feeling inside her wasn't going to pass so easily.
After the topic shifted a little, the conversation lightened again. Eunwoo started talking about the sports teams at school, while Eunbi was busy with her phone. Hana, looking out the window, felt a bit distracted.
The topic of her ex had been brought up too quickly, and it had bothered her, but for now, she tried not to dwell on it. Instead, she thought about how the day had gone. Did she feel closer to Eunbi again? Maybe. But it would take a little time.
About an hour later, the café started to empty out. Eunwoo glanced at the time and yawned. "I'm heading out. What about you guys?"
Eunbi looked at Hana and shrugged. "I'll head home too."
Hana nodded. "Me too."
The three of them left the café and reached a crossroads. Eunwoo waved his hand and walked off. Eunbi, however, continued walking beside Hana.
"So, how did you think today went?" Eunbi asked, glancing at her for a moment.
Hana smiled faintly. "Normal."
Eunbi chuckled lightly. "I think so too. But let's see what tomorrow brings."
Hana nodded. "Yeah, let's see."
And just like that, the day came to an end. But Hana's feeling inside told her this was just the beginning.
After leaving the café, the air had turned cooler. The sun was setting on the horizon, and the streetlights were flickering on one by one. Hana shivered slightly from the gentle breeze, tightening her grip on her bag strap.
As they walked toward the bus stop, Eunwoo checked his phone and smiled faintly. "My bus is coming soon. What about yours?"
Eunbi glanced at the sign at the bus stop. "Ours still has a while."
Sera and Eunbi lived in the same direction, but they usually didn't travel together. Eunbi preferred to travel alone most of the time.
Hana, on the other hand, had a different route. She could walk home, which meant it was time for her to say goodbye. "I'm leaving from here," she said, smiling faintly.
Eunwoo nodded. "Alright, take care."
Eunbi waved lightly. "See you tomorrow."
Hana left the stop behind and started walking toward her street. Walking under the city lights always brought her a sense of peace after the bustle of the day. As she thought about the events of the day, she realized some things still weren't completely clear in her mind.
But there was the night to think it over. For now, all she needed to do was get home and rest.
When she entered her house, she lay on her bed and stared blankly at the phone screen. As she went over the events of the day in her mind, her hand instinctively went to the social media app. Scrolling through, she saw a comment Aerin had left on someone's post.
It wasn't really anything important. Just a simple emoji reply... But Hana paused for a moment. She thought about how Aerin had looked at her a few times during the day. Maybe she was overthinking it.
She set her phone aside and closed her eyes. Tomorrow, everything at school would be the same again...
