Four realities were directly connected to the root realm that they were currently in.
It has been five days since training began, the differences between the locals of each reality has been apparent especially in terms of combat.
The Supes, as Isaac noted them as. Locals of the Bechnitz reality are the most physically gifted and strongest among them. They have little access to the system and are only able to check and show their Profile or Status screens. The three members coming from this reality are Travis, Clementine and Vincent. Their leader was Travis, a dark-skinned man who wears an electric blue bodysuit akin to a superhero. He had superhuman strength, speed, stamina and from what Isaac could tell he also had regenerative abilities.
'The other two are similar to him but Clementine relies more on her healing abilities, her specs are far below that of their leader. While Vincent is all in on speed.' Isaac is on speaking terms with them and they are very well aware of their physical superiority to the rest of the group. Isaac has overheard them calling him a "Civ" short for a civilian at one point. The Verund locals can notice their sense of superiority the two groups are often seen to be at odds. Most of the others can feel the tension in the air whenever these two groups are in the same room.
The Verund locals were much harder to deal with than the Supes, they also seem to dislike one another despite coming from the same reality. The elven Archmage, Vanitha who has stated herself to be 431 years of age despite looking like a woman in her early 20s. The orc shaman, Gristlethum green-skinned and as tall as a tree, Gristlethum carries an aura of power that Isaac could only describe as one that rivals Travis. Finally, there was the only human in that group Aarthamion. Aarthamion wears a full set of armor and carries a greatsword, one that he uses to brutal efficiency. Some sort of "Rune Knight" from what Isaac has heard, unlike the elf who looked down on others and the Orc that actively pushes people away this warrior is simply a quiet fellow that keeps to himself.
'From what I can tell, they also have a basic system. If the Supes use the system's profile to check on their damage taken and current status, they use it to track the energy that they use for magic. Either for the orc's spirit summons or that old lady's elemental magic. Either way, contact with them should be kept to a minimum. I can let Maja relay information to them should we need to.' Isaac keeps a close eye on them, but the only ones that have managed to actually speak to them without fail are the guides and Maja from his group.
Third and the easiest ones to deal with were the Terrans. Their leader is a man named Orion, he wears a combat suit and has two extra mechanical arms strapped to his back. There's the doctor, Miss Juno Haynes, she appears to not have any cybernetic enhancements aside from her left eye. Finally to round out their trio, Aris is a teen with the ability to manipulate a whole horde of drones. Aris uses mechanical legs and is often seen using spider-like legs to move around. As far as Isaac is concerned, they are also holders of an advanced system, one that is designed to help them augment their enhancements and create minion-like robots and drones.
The system, as Isaac has observed, can either be advanced or simple. Simple, in that it can only have the "Status" or "Profile" screen which he also has access to. Advanced in that it can be wholly related to an individual's original reality or the individuals themselves. Case and point is the difference between his advanced system and those that are not from earth. He has access to the following commands: Unit List, Building List, Status and the Inventory. While most of the others only hade the status screen and the inventory tab.
His interests, the ones that the guardian was asking about relates to his ability. At the cost of stone and wood, he can construct towers that instantly fall into place. The buildings can also vary and produce or train units. He had the potential to raise his own army, this of course was not lost on Isaac. 'It only means that the threats outside would warrant giving me such an ability.'
The personalized systems of his fellow earthlings were nothing to scoff at as well, in exchange for riches the old general, Antonyo could gamble away gold and turn them into summons. He had access to a unit list much like Isaac except his units can vary from useful to extremely useful. Maja's personalized system relates to MMO-rpgs, she always mumbles something about levels and gaining more experience points whenever he passes by her.
"Mr. Guide, how many more days until you let us out of the training facility? The ones from Bechnitz and Verund seem ready for a fight and those on my end seem to be itching to test their abilities soon." This statement resounded in the lobby, everyone's eyes were on Isaac as he asked the question.
"Twenty five, While I understand the urgency to help, it is far more important for you all to be well informed and well acquainted with your abilities." The guide has been patient with all of them, this time around though his expression was a bit more serious than it usually was. "This facility was created so that you are all fully prepared for what's to come. My role is to guide you until the next batch comes… from here on out I will be showing you the current state of this realm."
—
What can one expect from the end of the world? Nuclear winter? Demons? Aliens? Maybe even undead or the opening of a portal to hell. In the realm known as the Root, the realm that spawned off Earth, Terra, Verund and Bechnitz all of these things occurred consecutively. The guide revealed their current location, they were underground in a bunker that was highly defended.
Cities ravaged by plague, areas littered with demons and undead creatures. The outside world was toxic to whatever it encountered, the locals are scarce if any and heroes like them are sent out once a year to help in defending the realm.
"You have hinted at this before, yet here I am to question you once more. Why must we defend a realm that we did not even originate in?" The voice was deep, Gristlethum's large exterior towered over the guide. He was aware of the reason for why he was here, he said this merely to jest.
"Because this realm is known as the Root. The very root that tethers your realities with one another. Should this realm fall, you can expect the same to happen in your original realms. Do you not have loved ones that are still living their lives?" The guide looked at each of them, one by one. "You've seen the slaughter, You've seen the struggle of those outside. No matter how strong the defenders of your world are, all these events occurring all at once… an invasion coming from multiple other realities… Not even the most powerful among you should be so arrogant as to assume that they can defend that."
"The training drones at this facility are mere foot soldiers compared to the forces of the aliens, heroes of the past decade have come and gone from your realities. Mr. Travis's kin, Sir Gristlethum's ancestors… Those who arrived far before you. My AI was created 300 years ago. Yet here we are, still fighting the same fight. All I ask is for your patience, whether you like or hate one another is none of my business. But all I ask is for you to try, In 25 days I can no longer hold you in this facility. When the time comes, I will be forced to lay dormant as I wait for the next batch of heroes to arrive."
A timer was set, 25 days left until they fully entered the realm. For this they had to be ready and well-informed. Isaac, who was already aware of most of what the guide was saying, now had help in his plans to build a connection with everyone in the group. 'My ability relies on resource gathering, it's unlikely that we'll find survivors outside so I have to get all if not most of them as friendly figures. It's time to put this notebook to good use.'
